Reviews for Conch Inn Marina
Nice stay - but no Laundry, 2017-07-11
Captain: , Pompano Beach, FL (190)

Saw people complain about the conditions of the bathrooms, but other than not being airconditioned I thought they were clean and fine. The pool area was nice. I do agree that not having Laundry on site is a negative. We took our loads down town to the coin laundry which was affordable, but we had to pay the cab ~$10 each way. The marina is always well attended with staff since the charter boats all run from here. There was always someone around to assist which makes the service level quite nice. Fuel was also affordable.

Nice but..., 2017-04-16
Captain: , Gulfport FL (80)

There are pros and cons here. The docks are in good shape and the dock help is friendly. They can accomidate cats and this is a plus for us.
However, the previous reviews on the poor wifi, the mediorcore bathroooms and lack of laundry facilities it true. They need some updating.
The office staff can be hit or miss. They are sometimes a bit curt as they are probably a bit worn down from the busy charter customers comming and going.
Expect a fair ammount of dock trafific on the weekends due to the charters comings and goings.

Great Staff, 2017-03-23
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (1234)

Enjoyed our stay here - nice dock master and office staff. Fuel dock was easy on / off, but busy, as this is the Moorings base. Water PPM tested a bit high, but that's par for the course. Wifi unusable. Facilities were dated but clean. Lost power once for a few hours during the 4 nights we were there.

As mentioned earlier, as this is a Moorings base, expect peak activity on Fri / Sat / Sun as most charters seem to come / go on the weekends.

Hail a cab on VHF6 and go to Island Family Restaurant, where the locals eat!

Conveinent water fuel dock, 2016-04-19
Captain: , Forked River, NJ (604)

Easy to approach fuel dock. Fueled @ $3.82/gal diesel & water @ $.20/gal. Note water tasted fine. Helpful dockhand. Note this is the charter boat base.

Dont Drink The Water, 2016-02-18
Captain: , Road Harbour - BVI (789)

We ducked in here to dodge some weather. We topped off the water tank and thought the water tasted a little strange. We tested it using our TDS (total dissolved solids) meter. It tested as undrinkable. The meter returned a result of 1700 PPM (This measurement is the mass of a chemical or contaminate per unit volume of water). The US EPA standard recommendation is to not drink any water testing above 600 PPM. The World Health Organization says that water with a TDS of 1,000 PPM is %u201Cacceptable%u201D and less than 600 PPM is %u201Cgood.%u201D

At check out, we were told we had to pay for an extra day because it was 1pm and the checkout time was 11am %u2013 seriously. While I understand we needed to extend the check out time (we needed to leave at a higher tide), I could see a charge of $20, or so. Charging a full day rate is asinine. And, it wasn%u2019t like they needed the space. The marina is only about 50% occupied.

Terrible Wi-Fi. We were located by the fuel dock and had a lot of trouble getting a Wi-Fi signal, even with our booster. We obtained strong signals from surrounding marinas. When we did get a signal, the data transfer rate was very poor. We ended up purchasing Bahamas WiMax.

The bathrooms are falling apart. The door locks are either inoperable or falling off. The faucets are about to come out. Toilet paper and paper towels were hit and miss. For the most part, they were clean. Some $5 locks would go a long way here.

No laundry facilities (only a service at $12 per pound)

The dock staff was helpful and friendly.

The power supply is consistent and clean. We experience a few power outages during our stay.

Next time around we will opt to stay at Harbour View %u2013 It%u2019s a little more money but well worth the additional cost. They have an excellent Wi-Fi and a nice laundry room. They are also a little closer to town.

This area has some of the most expensive fuel. Consider Green Turtle Club for prices up to $1 lower per gallon.

Evaluating this facility against others in the area, we have found, The Bluff House, Green Turtle Club and Treasure Cay to have superior amenities and much lower rates (especially for extend stays).

Nice Facility, 2015-07-20
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

We needed to pick up someone at the airport, so decided to pull in here for the night. Very helpful staff. Reasonable laundry service. Easy to get a taxi for provisioning, etc. Good wifi. Good restaurants within walking distance. Wouldn't hesitate to stop again.

Enjoyable stay, 2015-06-27
Captain: , Treasure Island, FL. (60)

Nice facility with a friendly staff. Good free wifi on the docks, nice pool, great location. Was unable to reach the dock master on the radio so we just took a slip. The dock master came over as we were docking and helped us in and said our choice of slip was fine. We did have issues with power. We were tripping 50 amp. breakers pulling only 27 amps. Had to try several different plugs and pedestal before we came up with a working combination of using 2 - 50 amp. power cables. Had dinner at Curlytails, food was excellent (best seafood pasta I've ever had). Did not use there restroom/shower facility. Very nice grocery store within walking distance.
If they would correct their power issues I would give them 4-5 stars.

Nice Marina, 2015-06-06
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

We stopped for fuel before going to our slip. Dockhand was great - fueled us up and met us at the slip to help tie us up. The docks are great along with power, water, heads, pool and free Wifi! A short walk to grocery, liquor and hardware stores as well as several restaurants. This seems to be the place for sailboat and catamaran charters while Harbor View has the power boats.

Very nice with set power and water rate, 2015-05-15
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (972)

The slips are very large and nice, power and water were a set price, great pool, clean showers, and Curly Tails restaurant and bar on site. Curley Tails is very nice with great food and a view of the harbor from the upstairs bar. We enjoyed our stay and liked it better than across the harbor because it is in the settlement and easy to walk to the grocery store, auto parts, hardware, shops, and restaurants. They manage The Moorings, have many charter boats, and have a very professional staff.

welcoming place, 2015-04-28
Captain: , tangier (40)

Came in when another marina would not hold up to the Reservation we made 2 days before arriving. Conch inn & marina welcome us with open arms even after 5:00. Showers great, piers great, people great. Internet not so great.

nice marina , 2015-03-28
Captain: , Kingston ON (80)

We will be here for 2 nights. Arrived in 25 kts winds this afternoon. We were assigned a slip over the radio, we asked for docking assistance, but no one there to take a line.
The front desk staff were very nice, helpful.
Showers great, hot, lots of water, clean. There are only 4 showers for a very large Marina. There were people lined up to use them tonight.
Curly Tails restaurant is a favourite, good food good service.
Wifi works well for us even on the docks.

very friendly staff, 2015-01-02

We anchored out our first night in Marsh Harbour and came in by dinghy. They let us tie up to their dinghy dock free of charge for as long as we wanted. We ate at Curly Tails. The restaurant for our New Years Eve supper. Good food and drinks. Great service.

Nice TUI facility, 2014-01-27
Captain: , north kingstown (341)

Started our charter here... The motel rooms were clean and comfortable.. Pool area real nice to sit by while waiting... Marina staff very helpfull solve breakdown problem over radio... Fun to watch dockhands park boats

Focus is on the charter business not the cruising community, 2014-01-11
Captain: , San Diego (10)

This is a nice marina with some great views into the harbour, however, the focus of this marina is on the charter business not the folks renting the slips. The slip fees here are also higher than surrounding marinas. No laundry machines to use (must pay $12/load for walsh/dry and fold).

Friendly services, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Westport CT (83)

We docked. Very helpful with paperwork and getting customs and immigration to clear us. Dockmaster competant and helpful.
Open many hours due to charter operations on site.
Convenient to stores and restaurants in Marsh Harbor.

Hotel and Marina, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Oakton, VA (349)

We chargered with the Moorings and stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed meeting Fritz, the dockmaster, who took good care of us, as did the rest of the Moorings staff. The only thing that was not excellent was that the pool had a bit too much chlorine, but only a minor issue.

All is well at the Conch, 2013-05-15
Captain: , Sandusky Oh (615)

Perhaps the storm damage was worse than expected last fall and had not been yet put back together when the previous poor reports when written.
We found help while docking to be very good, the pool was fine, the restrooms although small was clean and had toilet paper and hand towels.
The restaurant was open and serving a fine Mother's Day meal for all. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Our stay was pleasant and we would go back again if coming this way.

Bit disappointing, 2012-12-13
Captain: , Toronto (80)

We stayed here for a couple of nights in December, as we had friends charti g from sun sail.
On the plus side , the curly tail restaurant was very good, pool was nice, proximity to town very good.
On the downside, washrooms and shower cleanliness is sub par, dock staff not always there to assist in arrivals. It is a busy marina focused on the charter business

So Disappointed, 2012-11-17
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL, USA (590)

Granted, Hurricane Sandy sent a surge into the Harbour which beat up many of their charter boats. But we arrived three weeks later, and after tie-up we felt as if we were just in the way. On sign-up we had to ask for the shower key. Pool was being re-tiled. Wmployee in the office said it was due to the Hurricane, but this pool is twelve feet up! And, it was closed the last time we were here in '09. Shower rooms were so-so. One had no power to the electrical outlet and one had no toilet paper. The restaurant staff advised they would be closed Monday night and suggested we come back the next night. Then they were closed for both lunch and dinner that next day. This was not our first visit to Conch Inn Marina, but it will be our last.

Good marina in Marsh Harbour, 2012-06-12
Captain: , Nashville, TN (290)

The Conch Inn Marina is very good with good dock facilities and helpful staff. It is the Moorings base so it is busy. Restaurants are very close. Town is a short walk or take dingy over to dingy dock maintained by Royal Marsh Harbor Yacht Club for closer access.

Helpful staff and convenient location, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Utica, Ohio (245)

A kudos for Fritz, who is the marina technician. He helped me after hours on what turned out to be a quick fix, but his eagerness to be helpful and his friendly demeanor were very much appreciated.
If you have to be in Marsh Harbour (it's not for everybody) it's hard to beat this facility. It's close to everything, has plenty of slips and is clean.

Friendly and helpful, 2012-03-15
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1304)

Nice Marina with a pool near the businesses of Marsh Harbor. You are walking distances of three liquor store, 1 fish store, and 3 resteraunts. Laundry is $12 a load folded. Grocery store can be walked , but need a cab for lots of stuff(1 Mile). Ask for quote on per foot rate before coming in.

Very Nice Place, 2011-08-27
Captain: , deale md (181)

Charter base for Sunsail and Moorings. Clean and well kept.

Nice shower facalities and close to resturants, etc.

Very good marina..., 2011-04-13
Captain: , San Francisco CA (1301)

This is the home of the Moorings and Sunsail, so its a busy marina, but it is friendly and a good spot to check in if you come straight to Marsh Harbor from the states. Because of the charter boats, the fuel here is always quite fresh ... I would buy here before anywhere else. The restaurant and upstairs bar Curly Tails is a great spot to sit and look over the harbour.

They will do your laundry for you here, but they mixed part of mine in with a bleach load and destroyed the color in towels and a couple of other items. Worse, they didn't seem to give a damn ... but then, sometimes that's life in the islands.

Restaurant Curly Tails at Conch Inn, 2011-03-10
Captain: , Sioux City, Iowa (50)

We have never been disappointed with the excellent, gourmet class meals we have had here. We may go to nearby restaurants for social occasions, but this one when we want to be assured of something better than I can cook.

Great local Marina, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Hernando Beach, Fl (300)

This is in a great location in downtown Marsh Harbor. Easy entry into a large harbor. Great helpful staff. nice pool and lot's of shops, restaurants and groceries nearby. They are one of the only marinas in the Abacos that includes water with the dockage fee. a great place to wash your boat and fill your tanks.

Good Place to Refit, 2010-11-24
Captain: , Hampton, VA (423)

Arrived here as part of the Caribbean 1500 Bahamas fleet. Nice marina and helpful staff. Well protected. Season just getting started so lots of slips available. Moorings and Sunsail fleet located there so support for a wide range of repairs in the area. Restrooms and showers were ok but not great. Water included in slip cost. Bakery out to left of the marina and a new, very nice supermarket has just opened in town. Getting there is a longish walk but well stocked. Concky Joes, just past Snappers in a small floating shack has very good conch fritters and cracked conch.

The Moorings, 2010-09-24
Captain: , Carrabelle (364)

We chartered a sailboat from the Moorings which is located at the Conch Inn Marina. The rooms at the Conch Inn were clean. They were not elegant but that is not what we were looking for. There is also a laundry room and showers for marina guests. Both were very clean. There is a pool with picnic tables around it. The pool was in good condition. The staff was very helpful. Find and get to know Ronale, a customer service rep, for local information. Curley Tails, the on-site restaruant was expensive. I recommend Snappas, a very short walk. Snappas has happy hour with free appetizers 5PM to 7:30 PM.

Not as expensive as Boat Harbour and it has a very nice restaurant and Bar. Service is OK unless your a Mooring Charter customer.
