Reviews for Columbus Marina
Five-star attitude, 2017-07-14
Captain: , Panama City, FL (409)

While you sort of have to reserve 5-star ratings for places with all the rimmings like fine on-sight restauarnts and plush lounges, you can't find a more can-do crowd than these guys at Columbus Marina. We limped in here a week ago with a broken down 34-year old Onan generator, and manager "T" Caldwell said on the phone thathey could handle it. He took a look as soon as the engine room cooled and called the Glen Miller his go-to mechanic to disassemble the beast. They identified two problems and had totally unfindable parts on the way in a day. While awaiting parts deliveries, I watched T and Glenn dive an eighty foot yacht with a bent propeller, send the captain with the 36-inch five bladed prop off to the prop shop a couple of hours away in the marina work truck and then put the prop back on a day later. If T tells you he can do it, trust him. I had no real expectations of a thorough-going success for my repair, but this was a great place to limp into. Thanks. T.

very nice marina, 2017-06-08
Captain: , Seabrook, Yexas (112)

Friendly helpful staff. They talked us all the way from the river through the channel to the marina, and were waiting at our slip. Nice courtesy car and new floating slips. We spent three days, and will come again. Definitely worth a stop.

Great stop, 2017-06-07
Captain: , Pensacola (510)

Got everything we needed. Needed groceries and a break. Refueled and filled water tanks. Couldn't be easier getting in and out. Friendly staff and very helpful. Used the car to get to the hardware and grocery stores.

Welcome shelter in a storm, 2017-05-04
Captain: , Litte Rock (253)

Stayed 2 nights, April 29-30, 2017; second night was due to severe weather, including tornadoes to the north and south of Columbus.
Get directions coming in. The channel is a dogleg, and even though it's marked with green and red buoys, you'll want advice about how close to favor each.
Friendly staff. Long-time employee Jimmy greeted us and helped us the afternoon we arrived; owner T Caldwell looked after us the second day. Had several open slips and room on the south face dock for 3, maybe 4 boats, depending on their LOA. A big yacht in the 70 foot range stayed overnight at the fuel dock.
No nearby restaurant any more. Use courtesy car to go into town for dining, provisioning, other shopping.
There's a pleasant Corps of Engineers day-use park a short walk away. Laundry room has 2 washers and 2 dryers; payment is on the honor system, $1.00 per load. Dog friendly. Free wifi that is open access. Dockage was $1.00/foot plus $5.00 fee for 50 amp.

stayed there 1/21-23/17, 2017-01-25
Captain: , Alabama (252)

call for good directions getting in, plenty of water once you get to dock. good WIFI, courtesy car availibe, nice docks, great place for dogs

Good place to stop, 2017-01-20
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (462)

Stopped here for 3 days to let a storm pass that ended up petering out but it as a decent marina with plenty of food and shopping a few miles away; has a courtesy car as well. Clean restrooms and shower too.

Good service and good repairs, 2016-12-07
Captain: , Ft. Collins, CO (331)

We arrived to be met by T and his staff at the dock. T also talked us in by radio advising us of the dog leg channel and of a shoal near the fuel dock. Our windlass was not working and T had Miller Marine service come in and repair it. An old motor no longer supported but a local motor shop cleaned it good and said it should work. Put it all back together and work it did. We will be back here next time through.

Columbus Marina, 2016-11-25
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (722)

We stayed over Thanksgiving with three other Looper boats. Four other Loopers left their boats here and went home for the holiday. T and the staff took off at 2pm on Wednesday and returned Friday morning. Laundry has two washers and two dryers, all in very good condition. $1 per wash, $1 per dry. Coins not needed; just settle up when you are done. Excellent loaner car and shopping, e.g., WalMart, Kroger, liquor store, PetSmart, Starbucks. We focused on food preparation for our feast but we understand there is a lot to see and do in the area. City water and good pump out machinery; diesel (Shell) was $2.69/gal. Facilities in generally good repair. Bathroom suites: one men's and one women's; would wish for more but not a problem off-season. We will be back.

Nice stop, friendly staff, 2016-11-18
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

We saw no less than 8 feet of water from the entrance to our slip. This is our second visit here, and it certainly won't be our last.

great stop, 2016-11-17
Captain: , Panama City (40)

Plenty of water, great dog area, ship store has lots of goodies and supplies. Nice people operating the marina and very helpful. Scenery is beautiful. Courtesy car available with only a couple of miles to local restaurants and Walmart. Will be back.

Great Stay, 2016-11-15
Captain: , Oregon, WI (80)

What a great staff and lovely marina to overnight. T Caldwell and family are great and we enjoyed talking football and boating with all. Nice, clean marina with well stocked ship store. Restrooms are limited but the views are great! We will be back....

Columbus Marina, 2016-10-27
Captain: , Harrison Township Michigan (380)

The folks at this marina are wonderful. We pulled in here with 11 boats in a line. They had a organized system of getting us to slips in a timely manner. A lot of help on the docks also. They set out a BBQ dinner for us also. Can't say enough about this marina. Staying an extra day.

Good Stopover!, 2016-10-27
Captain: , Milwaukee, Wi. (798)

Worth the stop! Marina had BBQ and all the fixens for all the loopers the first evening we stayed here! Just an all around good Marina to stop at just like others have said!

Nice marina with lots of Loopers, 2016-10-27
Captain: , Baltimore (529)

We stopped in for a few days and enjoyed the marina, the fellow Loopers stopping through and the town of Columbus. T (dockmaster) is a character that is fun to listen to.

Going in, there is low water off the fuel dock but fine beyond that - follow the instructions. The marina is floating docks with power/water/pumpout. The marina office/store does not have much in it.

The courtesy car is a van that comes in handy. Sign it out in advance for 2 hour slots. We used it to tour the Waverly Mansion with another boat. We also used it to tour the Tenn-Tombigbe Museum in Columbus and do shopping/dinner.

This marina really needs a resturant.

Good stop with friendly staff, 2016-10-20
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

Small Marina with very nice friendly competent employees. T and his staff took excellent care of us. Safe and quiet. Very nice courtesy car to re supply at many local stores (Walmart, Lowes, Kroger, Enterprise, etc) Two enjoyable stops, Cafe on Main, only open for lunch every day, but closed Saturday. Great southern cooking, fried chicken, fried okra, turnip greens etc. We also highly recommend the tour of the Waverly Mansion, a step back in history. Melanie gives the tour, she has lived at Waverly her entire life. Her dad was raking leaves, he is in his 90's. Very enjoyable. We also toured the Lee Mansion, as well as Tennessee Williams boyhood home. Plan to stop at Columbus!

Had a great 2-night stay, 2016-10-19
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

Unlike others, we found no shallow water except about 7 feet at the fuel dock, where we stayed. Manager, T, was a great guy. The courtesy van was one of the nicest we have ever used; shopping in nearby Columbus was a pleasure. Competing for shower use can be tough if there are a lot of transients. Really enjoyed our stay.

Good Stop-Over, 2016-05-27
Captain: , Oshkosh, WI (212)

Excellent staff: proficient, attentive and responsive %u2013 they know what they are doing. Shower facilities fine/clean. Ship%u2019s store carries the basics. No restaurant on site or within walking distance but courtesy car available to go into town. Contact the marina on approach as they will guide you in %u2013 stay close to the red nuns to avoid shallow water.

it's ok but, 2016-02-02
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

staying on the fuel dock. Courtesy car, laudry, wall mart, enterprise rental and shopping with car.
Dockmasters not experts at helping to tie up, you might not want to depend on them

Great Stop - Great Service, 2015-12-05
Captain: , Prattville, AL (300)

This is a great stop for those traveling the Tenn-Tom.

It's easy to find, but be careful as you round the corner to the fuel dock, as you can steer yourself into the mud in the blink of an eye. If you're on your way into the marina, hug the red nun marker as you turn right and stay as close as you can to the fuel dock. Follow the same route on your way back out.

The channel that connects the main river with the marina is marked and obvious. We saw only 12-feet or more under us until we reached the marina (December 2015).

The transient rates are typical for the Tenn-Tom, and the staff members are very helpful and more than willing to share their knowledge of the area.

This marina would easily rate 5 stars if there were only a few facilities within walking distance -- e.g., a restaurant, a store for provisioning, etc.

Nice town, ok marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Getting in is very tricky. You literally turn 100' before hitting the lock wall and head in following the marks. Unfortunately, both the channel and the marina are loaded with hyacinth. Some of the slips looked like the boats were held up by the stuff. That said -- we had a huge rain storm while there and were under cover so were very well protected. As said before -- Huck's in town is a terrific restaurant. We also got BBQ from Hanks which appears to be iffy. By that I mean, if you ask T (the dockmaster) to call his good friend Hank and ensure that Hank is cooking that day -- then the BBQ is some of the best you'll ever eat. If, however, you just drop by and Hank wasn't cooking that day you may get a sub par meal. We also toured many of the historic homes in the area. Really sad as most are badly in disrepair -- and we can't see any way they'll ever return to their splendor.

Nice Marina, 2015-11-12
Captain: , Paducah KY (183)

I found the entry to be easy to follow and the staff was great at giving directions to other boats entering the harbor I overheard the staff checking to make sure that all of the boats that were cominin for the night were in and secured before leaving for the evening.
Great southern people. The only thing missing is a resurant.

Great Location, great service, 2015-11-07
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Tricky coming in so be sure to ask for directions. Water hyacinths, Stennis lock, mooring cells and odd placement of channel buoys can lead to confusion. Once in, the place is professionally staffed with friendly people and the docks etc are in excellent condition. Courtesy cars are also in good shape and the nearby town of Columbus is worth a visit. Some good restaurants as well.

I would stop here again, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Portland,Oregon (330)

Yes, those floating plants are all over, but the depth is fine. Follow the marked channel and don't cut the green as you go in. Courtesy cars to go into town that has everything you need. My dog even got a great grooming at Petco. Friendly people here that bend over backwards.

They charge for about everything, 2015-11-02
Captain: , Beaver Island, MI (291)

Average marina but in a location that most will stop. Unfortunately they are like the marina of Spirit Airlines finding every way they can to charge extras. Extra to plug in, extra to pump out, extra to pay with credit card (they call it a cash discount). Anyway they are the only ones on the loop that does such petty charges. Good depth going in seeing no less than 7 feet (water level does not change here)

Good marina, spoiled by a couple issues, 2015-11-01
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Great location, and the only town along with Tenn-Tom with full services. However, the water hyacinths have taken over and there's shoaling right near the fuel dock that makes spinning a boat around more difficult than need be. Would be 5-star without these issues.

Columbus Marina, 2015-10-21
Captain: , Alexandria Bay, NY (20)

We were very pleased with our stay at Columbus Marina. Great, helpful staff and other boaters were very friendly. We were able to use the courtesy car and had a great shrimp and grits dinner at Huck's in town. There are many stores and services in this area.

A Sleeper , 2015-10-21
Captain: , Austin, TX (51)

OK. The Marina is great. Recommended. What was difficult for us to find out using marina personnel, Google maps and trip advisor was how much history and how many antebellum homes are available for tour year round in this town. The key to seeing this town's history is the Tennessee Williams home and welcome Center. Call or better yet visit there. You may or may not be interested in Tennessee Williams, but this is where you find out about everything else in the area. Many historic homes available for tour not just during Pilgrimage or when "scheduled", but anytime. We planned two nights here, stayed five.

Nice Stop Interesting Town, 2015-10-14
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

We spent 2 nights with our MT50 arrived 10-12-15. We had a nice T-Head all to ourselves. Covered slips look brand new with many nice well kept boats. Very Friendly Office Staff enjoyed Meeting "Jimmy" and "Randy" Nice Big and clean rest rooms. Good Courtesy Van. Local tenants shared a lot of "local knowledge" about going south on the Tom-Bigbee Waterway, anchorages etc. This would be a great place to winter a boat in open or covered slip. Wind moves water hycanths back and forth daily. We enjoyed our stay. Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ!

Great marina, 2015-06-22
Captain: , charleston (771)

Second time to visit this marina. Firendly helpful staff. Courtesy car available to visit Columbus. Neat city. Covered slip was a welcome relief to 90 plus temps with sun beating down.

Great Place!, 2015-05-14
Captain: , Cincinnati, OH (110)

Friendly helpful staff, nice docks, wifi, but the best part is going into town via the courtesy car. Per suggestion of the Harbormaster, We had dinner at Huck's and it was wonderful. This Marina is a welcome stop if you have been spending nights on the hook.

Great marina, 2014-12-29
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

We have stayed here several times and always been totally satisfied. Great staff who will go our of thier way to assist you. Nice courtesy car with Columbus having anything you need. Has both covered and open slips and if you have an RV/etc, they have covered storage for that also. Marina grounds and facilities are well kept. We will return.

Spent ten days here, 2014-11-29
Captain: , Bay Springs, MS (120)

Lots of vegetation getting into the marina but plenty of water. Good service, nice head and shower. We had to go home for a week, and they put us under cover for that time. At $2, this was the most expensive marina that we encountered.

Friendly and close to shopping, 2014-11-13
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Marina staff very helpful. Courtesy car available to take to shopping and lots of restaurants close.
See about making the trip to West Point and Waverly Plantation Mansion, it is worth the trip.

Four stars on the River is different than on the ICW, 2014-11-01
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

I have found that the Marinas on the River are a lot different than those on the east coast ICW. With docking fees at $1.00 it is a bargin. This marina for the river is four star, but by comparison is a three. A long walk to the facilities and only one restroom with shower for each gender. So if someone is in the shower it could be a wait and vice versa. The staff is friendly and the ride to town can be an enjoyable visit. Tennessee Williams home is nice to visit and lunch at hucks is good o;ld fashioned souther cook'n.

Columbus Marina Nice place to stop, 2014-10-28
Captain: , little current (272)

We struggled a bit with depth leaving the river to enter their channel, not very well marked at the beginning. Lots of floating mats of vegetation to cut through when we came in. Staff very friendly, facilities nice and as reported. Washrooms/showers could be cleaner. Columbus was nice. Dinner at Harvey's was very nice, great food adn service

Very Good Stop with Big Town access, 2014-10-22
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Protected, easy access, and very convenient to Columbus City with all normal city conveniences. Need to make a reservation in peak seasons as fills up fast. Nothing has changed still top notch now give 5 stars.

Another Winner, 2014-10-22
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (983)

Easy entry, prompt radio answer, easy pump out, great courtesy van, great staff, help with the lines and major shopping nearby. Definitely a preferred stop.

Very nice Marina, 2014-10-19
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (100)

Great place to stop. Marina is tops, has all the amenities. Very nice courtesy car. If you do stop here you must go to Huck's Restaurant, you will not regret it. Be very careful coming in, you need to be right at the lock break wall before you turn in,if you turn before the wall you will run aground. Make sure to give the red nun at the fuel dock a wide birth. Jimmy is fantastic, true southern hospitality.

Nice Marina, 2014-10-13
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

The marina itself was very nice with 2 courtesy cars and lots of restaurants and shopping rel close. The staff was friendly but the bathrooms were not what I'd expext here. The ladies had mold growing hslf way up the shower curtain. And they are a hike if your not right in front of them.

Nice accomendations, 2014-08-29
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

We had two extended stays here the first was for a month to return home. Pump out was DYI at your slip, just hook up and call the office so they would start the pump. The second was after we returned when we tried to leave we broke down so we awaited parts and repairs T. was very fair with us both on the repair cost and not charging for our second stay. Their car was always clean and almost new.

Awesome Marina! - again!!, 2014-08-27
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2350)

The facilities are top notch...floating docks - covered if you're staying more than a day or two. Pump out on the docks, laundry and shower on site with a courtesy car (new model mini-van) to take you in to town. Best part is the staff - they are super friendly with all the info you need - they will insure your stay is great. Don't miss this marina on your travels!

2014 - We stayed here for a month this time...the locks above and below were closed for maintenance. So, we stayed in a covered slip for a month and did 'maintenance' on the boat - lots of boat projects. Still a great place to stay, still a great staff - all in a peaceful, quiet location. (Be warned - if you stay in a covered slip you will deal with some spiders)

Really nice stop, 2014-08-24
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

We stayed one night 8/22. Two people helped us tie up and pump out. Used the courtesy car to go to downtown Columbus. Great downtown - lots of people out (it was Friday night). Had a good meal at Huck's downtown- good food, reasonably priced.

Quick Turn, 2014-05-31
Captain: , Somerville, TN (201)

This is usually a must stop marina, however this year we needed to "fuel and go".

We were met at the fuel pumps and quickly added our several hundred gallons, paid and left!

These guys set the standard in customer service!!

Great Marina, 2014-05-06
Captain: , Spring City, TN (40)

T. Caldwell met us at the fuel dock and provided for our every need over the next 3 days. T. and staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Glenn Miller, the onsite mechanic, did a great job fixing several things for us. Pricing is reasonable and service is well above average. Would liked to have stayed longer, but have to move on to Florida before it gets too hot.

Top Draw location, 2013-11-11
Captain: , Meredith, NH (638)

Wonderful marina & very helpful people. Enjoyed the conversation around the free coffee in the morning

T Runs a Tight Ship!, 2013-11-06
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

Columbus Marina is a stop you can make with confidence. The facilities are well maintained with all the amenities you need for your stay. T manages the staff like a pro ensuring the dockhands are well trained and know how to handle your boat. He misses nothing offering helpful direction when it's needed and making sure your stay is a good one.

Columbus is a lovely town with lots to do. There's a courtesy van you can take for 2 hours to do your provisioning or have dinner out. The marina arranged for a group of us to have dinner at Hucks downtown and the courtesy van easily held all 6 of us. This is not a one night stop, you should stay a few days to enjoy the town. There's even an Enterprise if you want your own car to explore.

Great stop but a LOT of vegetation, 2013-11-03
Captain: , St. Petersburg (749)

We stopped here for 2 nights in late October, 2013. The only negative I have to say about this marina is the overabundance of hyacinth in the narrow channel coming into the marina and all throughout the marina itself. The m arina staff was very friendly and the Waverly Mansion is a must see in Columbus

Good marina, 2013-11-03
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1997)

Stayed here 5 nights - tucked away close to the dam easy access if you follow markers give red at fuel dock extra room if you have a deep draft.
Close to shopping 4 1/2 miles enterprise rentals will pick you up.
One of the best qulaities is "T" the marina manager was super helpful and cooked a big dinner for boaters on Halloween. Good area for dogs.

Great staff, 2013-10-31
Captain: , Chicago, IL (1056)

Called on channel 16 as we entered the channel, guys were waiting on the dock to catch our lines and help us tie up. Channel was easy to follow. We ate at Hucks Place in downtown Columbus, good Creole/Southern food. Good water pressure, clean facilities, friendly folks on the dock.

Great Service in all areas, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

Stayed here 2 nights. Owner/Dockmaster T. Caldwell is very customer oriented. Had a minor engine problem and he scheduled his mechanic to look at it first thing the next morning - fixed with fair rate. Insure you coordinate leaving with other boats if going thru the lock. One of the better marina stops on the Tenn Tombigbee.

Good Marina, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (640)

We enjoyed our stop here. In the afternoon we used the very nice courtesy minivan to visit Waverly Mansion. The tour guide shared stories in an interesting manner and the architecture was beautiful. We ate out at Harvey's and had a delicious meal.

Excellent Customer Service, 2013-10-25
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (330)

Stayed two nights. Great place to layover and recharge. Clean facilities. "T" and Jimmy were great in assisting us. Courtesy car to town and good resturants...good not great resturants. Definate stopover here.

Great Staff, 2013-10-24
Captain: , Racine, WI (371)

We stayed last night and should have stayed another, good place to restock, friendly staff, great management. First class marina on the TennTom. Showers, laundry are handy the on premise resturant is closed but dining is 4 miles away and very accessible using the courtesy car a restfull stop.

Good stop for the essentials, 2013-09-20
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1422)

We pulled in late in the company of Sunshin Lady. Fueled, pumped out (law mandates $5 charge), Did aload of laundry, showered and left next day. Good people. Good restaurants in town,
by report.

Good decision to stop here!, 2013-08-19
Captain: , Murfreesboro, TN (360)

Neede a stop over for a month or so to go back home. Demopolis or Columbus? Great decision to stop in Columbus. Facility has everything we need. Fuel at a reasonable price, clean shower and head, park for walking dogs, close to stores and restaurants and rental car. Reasonable mechanic, as well. Really cannot fault this marina!

Almost as good as Kingfisher Bay, 2013-06-03
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Reviews by the other captains says it all. It really is that good. Very friend;y staff and lots of them. Very reasonable fuel prices. Covered slips. Courtesy car. Narvey's in town is a great restaurant. Try their Prime rib with crawfish suace and bread pudding with Bourbon sauce. Entry to marina is right after (if northbound) the Stennis Lock. Channel is well marked with private red/green stakes. saw 10 feet the whole way. Floating docks with pump out on the dock.

Columbus Marina, 2013-02-04
Captain: , Perry, Kansas (317)

Excellent facility, though the onsite restaurant is closed, quality courtesy vehicles available and plenty of restaurants available in town. The Dam was dumping a lot of water and underpowered boats may have problems getting into marina from river channel.

First class marina, 2012-10-20
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Has everything on site except pool & restaurant. Columbus has 2 excellent restaurants. Good place for extended stay; faciliy is secure and safe. Dock management is first rate and courtesy car lets one fill every need. Plan to visit Waverly Mansion (try to meet owner) which will take 2 hours to drive there and do tour.

Lives up to its reputation!, 2012-10-14
Captain: , Oneida, TN (415)

We'd heard it was a good stop. We stopped at the fuel dock first and were swarmed with assistance. Got fueled, pumped out and iced, lickety-split! Then they pointed us to our slip and were there to grab our lines. A little bit of a walk from the slip to the amenities building, but everything was great. Very secure! Stop here with confidence!

Love this place, 2012-10-12
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4187)

"T" and the guys here are great. When we arrived they kept asking if there was anything they could do for us. Left the boat for a month when we had to return to NJ for a family medical situation. Enterprise RentaCar is right up the road, as is WalMart superstore and other things in Columbus.

Good Marina, 2012-10-03
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Agree with all the previous reviews. Treated will, dock was 1.00 per foot and diesel was 3.55 per gal. Nice loaner vehicle and town had everything you would need. Wal-Mart, groceries, restaurants. Water depth good on approach and at talk. Was there on 10-2-12.

Good Respite, 2012-09-11
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

Well protected floating docks. Great dock master. Good rest room/shower. Four miles or so from anything else (and further to downtown Columbus) so you need to use courtesy car (marina has one very nice courtesy car) or rent a car. Restaurant near marina is closed. Several very nice restaurants in downtown Columbus. We patronized J Brossards (upscale and excellent) and Huck's Place (also good). We also went to Hanks BBQ (closer to marina than downtown) and liked it. City is very attractive - has lots of antebellum homes and is birthplace of playwright Tenessee Williams. We also recommend a tour of Waverly Manner (a former plantation home) about a ten minute drive from marina.

Great Layover stop, 2012-07-22
Captain: , Collierville TN (977)

Four visits, last June 2012

Deep Water, One long transient dock, easy acees to fuel dock, plus slips with 70 ft fingers and 20 feet wide. Very friendly, coutesey car. Town has a great historic offering. Beautiful antebellum homes. Enjoyed a great dinner at Anthony's Market in nearby West Point MS. Good gumbo, and seafood stuffed steak.

An excellent experience, 2012-07-10
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (245)

This year, 7/06/2012, I came through in my new boat, a cruiser and found that nothing had changed, Stil one of the best-run marinas for customer service and facilities anywhere!

We (2 sailboats enroute Guntersville, AL to Pensacola) stopped at the end of a long day and met two very friendly and helpful guys, T. Caldwell and Jimmy, the service staff of the marina.

We stayed overnight, did laundry, they made reservations for us at Huck's, a very good local restaurant, loaned us the courtesy car (the new minivan described in previous) and had an excellent experience.

Definitely plan to arrive for a day or two!

Well managed, friendly,clean, 2012-05-18
Captain: , Absarokee Mt (1228)

This is one of our favorite stops, we have used this marina for over 6 years of going up and down the Tombigbee. Newer dockage and infrastructure so the power is dependable, docks are safe with no loose boards. T. Caldwell is a real gem, very knowledgable and can fix anything.
Pricing is about average for what you see further south and the facility is nicer than most of those.
Great resupply spot, Walmart and Sears in town. Woody's resturant next to the marina is world class!.

THE Stop on the TennTom, 2011-11-16
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4247)

Three line handlers at fuel dock, competitive fuel prices, choice of covered or open slips, clean electricity, nice and low priced laundry, well protected, the best/newest courtesy car, good provisioning stop with Kroeger/Walmart, downtown with good restaurants and historic homes. Discussed location with cruisers who have traveled the TennTom multiple years, and they all agreed that this is the best marina.

Great stop, close to town., 2011-11-16
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

Lots of help on the fuel dock and also getting into slip. Covered docks are gated, good price for fuel, laundry. Large area to walk your dog. Newer courtesy van, but town can be reached with easy bike ride. Greeted with a nice welcome bag with local info, discount book, freebies.

Great Stop., 2011-11-04
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

A very good stop. Too bad the restaurant is closed. It was great! We stayed in a covered slip and this makes an incredible difference - 40 days of 90+ weather. Helpful people, great facilities. Worthy of a couple of days layover. Stayed there twice in 2011 and it continues to be a great stop. The proximity to a real honest-to-God city makes reprovisioning great.

Great Marina, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

We carried a minimum of 8 ft. of water into the marina, and it has plenty of water for even the big cruisers. This marina is a good place to keep your big boat during hurricane season, but it is also a great stop for Loopers on their way south this time of year. Management works hard to greet each boat and get you into your slip. Columbus is nearby which is convienent with the use of their courtesy car. It is also a good place to rent a car or get to an airport to fly home. Nice place.

Very nice facility and helpful owners, 2011-10-29
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (141)

Had a bad experience on the river and the owner cooperated with Towboat US to save the day. THe place is highly recommended! Eat at Hucks in downtown!

Great Marina, Great Service, 2011-08-22
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (323)

T. Caldwell couldn't be more helpful, bending over backwards to help in any way he can. It's good to be under a shed in the heat, and we like the floating docks. Good courtesy car, shower and laundry facilities fine.

12 Good Reasons to Stop Here, 2011-05-29
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (539)

Lots of reasons to stop at Columbus Marina, which is just above the Columbus Lock:
1. Easy in and out. 5 foot draft no issue. 2. Good floating docks, but put fenders out first. 3. Competative fuel price. 4. All shopping available a short drive away. 5. Courtesy car is nice nearly-new van. 6. T. Caldwell, the manager, and his sidekick, Jimmy, pulled my starter, took it to shop for repairs, back in boat 4 hours later. 7. Columbus is known for dozens of pre-Civil War homes. Drive to the old downtown (10 minutes) for lunch and see the homes. 8. Walmart, Sears, Kroger, and all maner of eateries are 7 minutes away by courtesy car. (too far to walk.) 9. WIFI is fast and free. 10. These are NICE Southern people. 11. The water at the dock is so soft it leaves no spots on yur boat. Good to drink too. 12. Plenty of space for Fido.

The only reason it is not a 5 star is there is no golf, tennis, or pool. Well, if there was, the prices would not be so reasonable.

Nice marina once you find entrance channel, 2011-05-17
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1293)

We arrived late in the day with swift current and lots of debris at entrance to channel. Channel was very poorly marked and our 6' draft required several passes to find the best spot to exit the river and enter marina channel. (Lots of shoaling in this area.)

Once at the dock, staff was very helpful and friendly. Facilities were very clean and had been repaired after a recent storm. Lots of grassy areas to walk dog (numerous ducks and geese to attract her attention).

Nice people, 2011-05-13
Captain: , Foley, AL (985)

This is our 3rd time here in 2 years and were treated with great service each time.

Helpful Staff, 2011-01-04
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Nice marina close to the Locks. Staff is helpful and friendly and the facility is newer. Nothing on site but town is close and car is available

Great place!, 2010-11-23
Captain: , Havana Illinois (10)

Our boat, "Sea Jay" is there now. We have been treated very well.

Friendly marina, 2010-09-25
Captain: , Silverthorne, CO (419)

"T" and other staff friendly and helpful. Courtesy car available as Columbus is four miles away. $5 charge for pumpout, and separate charge for electric for transients.

Don't miss this marina., 2010-06-30
Captain: , Tampa (190)

The staff and "T" work hard to be one of the best. Service and satisfaction are their goals. Great restaurants and sightseeing in Columbus. An all around five star stop.

Great Marina, 2010-06-18
Captain: , Rockport, Texas (167)

We spent the winter here. Mgr. "T" Caldwell and staff are very friendly, courteous, helpful and go out of their way to ensure that your stay in Columbus is a great one. The entire marina is clean and in good repair. There are pumpouts on all docks that access each slip. A courtesy car was available for trips into Columbus for shopping (Walmart, Lowes) , restaurants, etc. The laundry and restrooms are clean and modern. The restaurant at the marina was closed and up for sale at the time of our visit.

Columbus Marina, 2010-05-20
Captain: , Grand Haven, Mi (2283)

Columbus Marina is one of our favorite stops on the Tombigbee River. The staff is very courteous and helpful. T, the manager, will help you with any boat problem you may have and have any parts you need in a day if so desired. The laundry and heads are modern and kept clean. The courtesy car is available for trips to town at only 3 miles away and WalMart is only 3.5 miles away. Actually the marina is in the City Limit and if you like bike riding, shopping is a short ride away. We like to anchor but when we find a gem like Columbus Marina we take advantage of it at only $1.00 per foot. The restaurant at the marina is closed and up for sale.

Nice little marina, 2009-10-07
Captain: , fairland (2653)

Very protected. courtesy car to walmart, others and lots of restaurants. Also restaurnat on site. Laundry is honor system

Best Stop in the upper river, 2009-09-28
Captain: , Burnt Store, FL (489)

We pulled in late Sunday evening with a blow out generator raw water impeller. By 8:00 Monday morning the staff had removed the defective impeller and ordered a replacement (and a spare!) to be delivered overnight.

Very courteous and competent service is the norm. Use of a courtesy car to nearby Walmart and oter stores makes Columbus Marina a good stop.

Columbus, MS Marina, 2009-08-21
Captain: , Texas (80)

In a word, "Super". Mgr. "T" Caldwell and staff go out of their way to insure that your experience in Columbus, is a great one.

Covered or uncovered slips for nearly any size boat. Pumpouts on all docks are a real "handy" feature.

Woody's on the Water, bar and restaurant are on the Marina complex and are well worth a visit. Woody and staff will treat you well.

If you choose to visit Columbus; the Marina offers a courtesy car. Columbus offers shopping, more good restaurants, and a rich history. The folks in MS are friendly, helpful and gracious.

We stopped for a month in June (2009) and are still there in August.

Good marina, but along way from town

Columbus Marina, 2009-02-19
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Nice well maintained marina. They have a courtesy car.

The price appears to have come down. When we stopped in fall 2007 it was $1.50/ft. At $1.50 it is a little pricey for the area. At $1.00/ft, it would be a good deal.

Nice, clean, helpful Marina, 2009-01-26
Captain: , Knoxville, TN (1788)

Staff was very nice & helpful & accomodating. Marina was very nice, clean and well-kept. Marina is right above Stennis Lock - so this is the perfect place to stay going downriver, if you want to lock thru 1st thing the next morning - call the lockmaster before you depart the marina so you will know when he is ready for you.

great marina, 2008-05-23
Captain: , Bon Secour, Alabama (22)

New manager as of May 2008. Very helpful. Arraigned for delivery of pump when I called from down river. Great restaurant next door.

Excellent, 2008-01-20
Captain: , Hampstead, NC (12)

We have been coming here since 2004 and when we had an emergency mechanical problem, they stoppend and helped us immediately, and had us going the very next day. Have kept our boat here for the winter and they took excellent care of it cause there were cold days and nights that required turning off water.

good facilities but not friendly management, 2007-10-31
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (84)

We've stayed here and even kept our boat here for several months because we had friends in the area. The management is not very friendly and often rude. We will not be returning there again -- ever! A much nicer place is Midway Marina near Fulton, MS. That's were we keep our boat now and the people couldn't be nicer.

Good Marina, 2007-07-08
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1306)

As of 7-1-07 there was a very good restaurant onsite.
Good facility. Chuck can do or get done almost anything mechanically.

Very Nice Marina!, 2007-02-22
Captain: , Snellville, GA (162)

One of the nicer marinas of the middle Tombigbee River, Fairly new and very nice people.
