Reviews for Collins Bay Marina
Good place to stop for a day or two, 2016-07-30
Captain: , CFB Trenton (30)

Collins Bay is a well maintained marina with lots of good docks for transients or for reciprocal clubs.
The staff and manager are very good.
The bathrooms are clean, fresh and pleasant to use with fresh cut flowers in both the women?s and men?s bathrooms.
The grounds are well manicured with a park next door that has miles of trails following the waterfront. Unfortunately there does not seem to be anything else close by for entertainment.

Good place to stop for the night, 2015-12-15

We stopped here for an overnight returning down river from a trip to the Bay of Quinte. The facilities were in excellent shape, both the docks and the washrooms. the staff were freindly and helpful enough. There is a large conservation area to walk around, but we were disappointed to find no swimming available. There was no restaurant nearby, but free coffee and muffins were served by the marina in the morning which made up for it.

Only 3 stars because it was stiffling hot in the summer with no swimming hole and noisy from the train, highway and airport.

Some cool islands nearby to explore if you have a tender.

Great Experience...Trains, Planes and Automobiles, 2015-07-01

The marina is well maintained and easy to get to through a marked channel. The staff is friendly and courteous. The restrooms and showers are modern, clean and well maintained. I'd give it 5 stars but, the noise from the planes overhead and trains nearby keeps me from doing so. If you are a member of a reciprocal yacht club, the Collins Bay Yacht Club is located inside the marina and offers a free night's stay. We will come back to CBM.

spent two nights here as a layover while waiting on parts for repairs. There is a chandlery across the bay in but a long walk to get there and 10 bucks for cab fare each way.
The trains blow horns almost every few hours 24/7 and planes almost sound like there landing on you.
Park was nice, as were trails but once walked,,, well you know.
Marina staff was great, helped with docking and getting cabs. A little pricey at 48 a night and no power or water. Docks are safe and sturdy, nice pet area.

2013 update
new owners have taken over , showed up during a storm just after 5pm and tried hailing on VHF down the bay. tied to dock and walked to office and found owner. asked for a slip and told him I was 25 ft he grumbled and then hesitated in finding a spot as I didn't give 24 hrs notice and then said they were closed and this was not the approved manner to get a spot. cost me 70 for a slip was charged for power which I could not use. seems if your not a 9-5 sailor you don't fit in.

Great locale, excellent service, 2012-03-08

The marina offers a sheltered and well serviced berthing area. Very well maintained. Just a six minute walk to a grocery/pharmacy.

Collins Bay Marina, 2012-02-11
Captain: , Blighsburgh (205)

Probably the best marina we have ever stayed at. Great facilities and very friendly, helpful staff. Grocery store nearby but a bit of a stretch for carrying groceries back. One of the dock guys lent us his personal car to get groceries, his idea. Now that is what I call excellent. Well protected, pay wireless internet available. A nice change from the noise of downtown Kingston marinas. Can be tough to get a dock as they are full and just rent out permanent docks as available, call ahead. Just a great place, we'll be back for sure!

Update summer 2008 - internet is now free! Woohoo! Just another nice thing from a very nice place.

Update 2011 - change of ownership. Will miss Hub and Michelle who provided so many thoughtful touches for us on our many stays here. New owners seem nice enough, hope they continue the tradition.

A nice place to stay, 2011-08-05
Captain: , St. Catharines (498)

It looks like this marina caters mostly to sailors. They were very helpful to find us a slip on a very busy summer weekend.
We had power and water and were well protected from the wind.
There are busy traintracks nearby and you are in the approcah/departure patch of the Kingston airport. i enjoyed watching the planes land and take off, and I'm used to train whistles :)
Staff were excellent and willing to assist with docking.
There is a "no Frills" grocery store about a 15 minute walk away. It's uphill both ways :) We only stayed one night, so we didn't have time to explore anything else. Apprently there is a nature conservation area close by.

Mostly sailboats, 2011-07-22
Captain: , Calgary, Alberta, Canada (854)

Although this marina mostly caters to sailers, not cruisers, we had no trouble staying for a month in a slip with power and water well protected from the wind. Nearby trains were noticeable only on the first night.

Staff are excellent and more than willing to assist with docking.

Owner arranged with local contractor for repairs while we were away from the boat and checked periodically to see that everything was okay.

Very nice Marina with only one flaw, 2009-08-19
Captain: , Montreal, Quebec, Canada (253)

I enjoyed my visit to Collins Bay Marina. The facilities are very well maintained and docks are very substantial and solid. The location is also quite picturesque but the one flaw related to its location is the noise from air traffic and trains. Collins Bay Marina is situated right beside Kingstons airport so there is a considerable amount of overhead noise. It ends at nightfall however, but that is when you really notice that you are beside a major rail line. I am told one gets used to the train traffic, which also includes train horns throughout the night, but if you are not used to such disturbances at night you might find it a little disturbing for transient dockage. Otherwise a fine faciltity.

Kingston is probably a better stop as Collins Bay really isn't near anything. Nice facility with fuel. Restaraunts are a cab ride away

Long but protected bay to navigate in and out, expensive. Not very multihull friendly.

Excellent facilities, 2008-09-16

Great, friendly, family owned marina. Dock staff assist with docking (even in the pouring rain). Clean washrooms and showers. Bit of a walk to do your laundry though. Would go back in a heartbeat.
