Reviews for Cockrell's Marine Railway
Excellent Facility and Workmanship, 2014-10-14
Captain: , Heathsville VA (80)

We have kept our 46' Grand Banks at this marina for several years and kept a Legacy there before. This marina goes way back: my father kept his boat there in the '50's. The Cockrells are capable, competent, hard-working, knowledgeable, and entirely pleasant. Any and Myles have managed or organized many different types of repairs or upgrades for us over the years, always with great skill and integrity. I would highly recommend their services.

New multihull hauling capability, 2012-10-30
Captain: , Ophelia, VA (849)

Cockrell's Marine Railway recently made some modifications to their docks to allow multihulls up to 25 ft wide to access their marine railway. We had Pretty Penny hauled there for bottom painting and some minor keel repairs. It was the smoothest haulout we have had. Andy and Myles did an excellent job, probably the best bottom paint preparation and application we have had. Myles also did an excellent job repairing a soft spot in the port keel, actually a poor fiberglass job done by some previous yard. They cleaned and waxed the hulls and did a really nice job of cleaning up a nasty vacuflush head problem. Their price for the haulout and bottom paint was slightly less than other yards we have been to. I would highly recommend them as a repair yard for multihulls and large trawlers. They also have a travel lift and allow DIY work. They are certified to repair several types of engines and have pleanty of expertise available in the area for any engines they are not comfortable with.
Disregard the one bad review; he has an attitude problem.

Great, But, 2012-02-05
Captain: , glebe creek (13)

They do superb work and their expertise is wide ranging. But . . . get a firm, written estimate before you start. They are also pleasant to deal with, but be sure to get a firm, written estimate before you start. Also (and not their fault): the entrance to the Little Wicomico can be extremely dangerous in a NE blow, with large breaking waves at the outer end of the jetties. Both entry and exit from the river are hazardous under these conditions.

Never, ever bring your boat there. They tried to rip me off and have ripped off many boaters and still do.

I had my boat hauled there once ... very fast service, competent repair done by knowledgable folks and the price was extremely reasonable. If you are in this area and need repairs, my suggestion if to go here.
