Reviews for Club de Yates Antofagasta
Great location, 2015-05-19

YCA is tucked into the SW side of the bay, the NW side being home to the fishing boats. Although there are many breakers outside the breakwater, there was not much surge inside.

The 2 floating docks are pretty broken up and can only accommodate fairly small boats. I would guess 25 ft or less. Other boats can anchor near the marinas; you will need a bow and stern anchor if you are heavy (we are 70 tons). There is one set of 2 mooring balls available for average weight boats.

The staff and dock manager (Theo) are very accommodating and went out of their way to help us with various things.

They are unable to fuel at the marina, unless you have a small enough boat to tie to the dock. And in that case, you are likely using jerry jugs anyway. Fueling in the Port is possible to arrange. However, if you are over 25 tons you are required to use an agent, and the fees approach US $1000!

Within walking distance there is a large mall, supermarket, Home Depot-type hardware store, and the Armada office (to check in & out). Also a gas station nearby if you need to fill fuel jugs.

Restaurant at the club is excellent, lots of fresh fish serviced just about any way you want it.

If you have time, rent a car and go visit the Paranal Observatory (2 hr drive); the most important telescopes on the planet are there. Tours on Sat/Sun only; you must register ahead (online).
