Reviews for Clifton Marina
very nice marina, 2017-08-16
Captain: , Seabrook, Yexas (112)

Small marina, but plenty of room for a few large boats (50+). Transient dock had 10' at summer pool. Very nice helpful people. We took the courtesy car to dinner, even though they offered to cook for us at the marina office. Well protected and quiet. We will definitely be back.

nice stop for the night, 2016-12-05
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

Arrived Oct 29 for one night. Staff very friendly and helpful. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment. They lent us a courtesy car to go into town for dinner. They do have a small restaurant on site. Not much in town. Churned up a lot of mud when maneuvering around fuel dock and transient dock but had enough water. We are 50' but only draft 3.5'.

Great Small Town Stop, 2016-12-04
Captain: , Traverse City, MI (95)

We stopped after a long run from Little Crooked Creek SB. Arrived at last light which was 17:15. They waited. They threw some burgers on the grill while we were still shutting down.

Could not have been nicer or more helpful.

11/21/16 Nice stop for the night, 2016-11-23
Captain: , warm waters (828)

Cindy was very responsive and helpful by both phone and VHF. There is a short, narrow entrance channel and a tight turn to starboard to the transient dock. It was 7.9' deep at the dock during winter pool (-5'). Our 4' draft churned a bit of mud but never touched bottom. Ocean Dancer (48' M/V) made an easy exit in the morning.

Small friendly marina, 2016-10-27
Captain: , North East, MD (385)

They had live music on the patio the night we arrived. Their cheeseburgers seem to be famous. If you land on A dock, it is a long walk to the restrooms. One shower, two restrooms, one washer and dryer. We walked 2/3 of a mile to the "must see" village, only to find nothing open except a bank. Call before walking. We used the courtesy car to drive 20 miles to shopping in Savannah TN. Marina charges 20 cents per mile plus gas.

Nice marina. Needs more heads and showers. nice staff. They had live music for loopers on a Thursday.

Caught them on a bad day, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (320)

No radio response coming in. Another looper found out where we were to go, hailed us on the radio and helped with our lines. Pedestal kept tripping but was stable when we plugged in to other side of same pedestal. No help from marina staff. Turned out there was one poor overworked woman who was cooking, working the marina store, running the restaurant and in charge of dockage. Only employee on site! She was very pleasant but one person can only do so much. If she were not so nice, would probably give one star. Witnessed a lot of confusion as several boats came in within about 30 minutes.
One bathroom for both sexes - one toilet and one shower; washer and dryer in same small room.

Helpful, Friendly Staff and Well Protected, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Norfolk, VA, USA (185)

We called the marina by telephone after being unable to hail them on the VHF which was apparently having issues. Sonya asked us to stand by right outside the entrance while she had some boats move that were tied to the transient dock. She then asked us to come in with clear instructions and met us on the dock helping us get tied up securely. They have a courtesy car but another boater had left with the keys 2 days earlier and they were waiting for them to be returned. She offered us the use of her personal vehicle which I thought was over and above what should be expected.

The entrance is easy to negotiate and the depths were as advertised. We would stay here again if in the area.

Excellent mom and Pop operation, 2016-09-23
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Great place to stay midway between Barkley and Pickwick. Sonya and her staff will make you feel right at home. Even has home cooked meal specials and the BEST cheeseburger I've had in a long time. Would definately stop here again.

one of my favorite spots on the river, 2016-01-23
Captain: , Florence, AL (21)

I try to stop here every trip through. Sonya makes a mean cheeseburger and some great chilli. She and Gene are always so nice and accomodating.

Great family atmosphere!, 2015-10-25
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (728)

We stayed here 10/9/15 with about a dozen looper boats. Staff did a great job of getting everyone in and gave us a covered slip for the night. Marina restaurant served a nice dinner and opened early for breakfast the next morning so we could get moving toward Pickwick lake.

first stop at clifton, 2015-10-23
Captain: , paris, tn (50)

the staff was great, very helpful. seems to be a regular stop for many traveling and i can see why

GOOD stop, recommended, 2015-10-03
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Stayed for a quick overnight. Pulled in while raining. Got help docking. Good power and floating dock. Tight space but about 10 looper boats were moored. Had a nice dinner at the Marina restaurant. Good over night stop. Left early in morning.

Great Service!, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Nashville (40)

We stopped in to meet a friend, didn't get fuel or stay overnight but they let us fill our water tank and drop off our trash anyway. Sonya was super sweet, made us lunch, and chatted with us. It's small but it seems like a very nice, clean marina.

The river was down and it was a bit shallow coming in but we made it OK with 4.5' draft.

Nice little marina., 2015-09-20
Captain: , Illinois (2471)

We enjoyed our overnight here. Amy checked us in then manager Sonja visited with us later. We enjoyed a very good hamburger prepared at their grill.
One of the quietest nights at a Marina we have ever experienced.

Excellent stop on way/from Pickwick, 2015-03-01
Captain: , Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4666)

Delightful little marina with easy access and accomodating folks. Nice stop over before facing current and tow realted dealays at Pickwick, or before facing long haul to Pebble Isle or Paris Landing. Call ahead for reservations, especially if over 50 ft.

A Great Stop After A Long Day, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

This was a planned stop. Long day 8 hrs 45 min, Cold day. Entering at 4:30 P.M. driving into setting sun was a challenge. Wi-FI would not stay connected and we tied alongside next to dock office. If a Marina can be cute, this is one. Cove like setting, Quiet, Calm and freindly helpful staff. Three fellas met us to receive our dock lines. Call ahead for a reservation. Limited space for 50 ft boats like ours. T.V. they have a large Flat screen inside or outside on the patio. Nice sitting areas under cover. Neat place to kick back after a long day and just relax.. Capt Helen and Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ!. MTOA, AGLCA, USPS, USCG-ARC

Small marina that makes it up on service, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

Very happy with our brief stay. We were just off the fuel dock, close to the store. Well stocked, had everything that we were looking for. Fuel prices were average for the river. Dock was $1 a foot and the wi-fi worked well.

We took the marina car into town (5 mins) to eat at the Pirate Lair, good NOLA food, get the gumbo.

Hidden gem is the little "general store" where they hand cut steaks. We got two 12 oz ribeyes that were tender and juicy when they got cooked up. At $10 it was a deal, we wish now we had bought more.

nice little marina, 2014-10-18
Captain: , Holland (270)

not a big place but had 2 50 footers and me for the night. used courtesy car for trip to nearby town and fee was 50 cents per mile. diesel was $4.19/gal. Victorias Mexican restaurant was very good and a 10 min. walk or less. marina is in dry county, you can buy beer but not wine or spirits. have to go to the town with walmart to get those.

Great Spot, 2014-10-17
Captain: , Belleville, Ontario (410)

Very sheltered - good depth through entrance and consistent in the marina basin. Good amenities and a very nice patio / restaurant.
First time since on the lake, south bound that we got good Version reception in a marina
Extremely helpful staff %u2013 overall a great spot to stop.

Awesome stop. , 2014-10-17
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (100)

This place has got to be the friendliest place on the whole river, Sonya and Gene are fantastic. Called ahead and let them know we were coming and they stayed late to make sure we got settled and let us take on fuel. Showers and Laundry are adequate and clean. Will definitely stop again.

This Is a Good One, 2014-10-16
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (983)

Easy access and very friendly. Several boats in due to coming bad weather and Sonja did a great job fitting everyone in. The food served at the dock was outstanding.

Easy and friendly, 2014-10-11
Captain: , Russellville, AR (133)

This is a state run marina and prices were below average and service was above average. A credit to the people that run the place. The marina store is open 8 to 8 every day and they'll cook up a good hamburger if you want one. Not many slips available but felt very welcome at the spot. Not sure if they could provide repairs.

Very nice, clean and protected., 2014-10-03
Captain: , Colchester, VT (120)

Small but well protected and the staff just can't do enough for you. Bad weather forced a lot of boats looking for shelter and the staff worked very hard to accomadate as many as they could. Small grill is a real treat.

Very Nice Place, 2014-09-18
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2350)

We came in on an unscheduled stop due to generator issues - the folks here couldn't have been nicer. Great docks, great protection from the river wakes & winds, good liittle grill on site. There is a courtesy car (on it's last legs) but not much to see in the area. There is a Dollar General for limited groceries and a pretty good Mexican restaurant just down the road.

Great Marina, 2014-08-31
Captain: , Meadville MS (76)

Stayed here on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Great service can not say enough about the staff here. Good deep water. Great place to start the College Football season off.

Really Nice, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Paducah KY (183)

Call ahead and they will have your dinner ready when you arrive.
Sonya and the crew will make you feel like family.

Great Marina, 2014-06-19
Captain: , scottsboro, Al. (141)

Sonya the manager and the crew there will make you right at home. There is a courtesy car, restaurant and ice cold beer. This small marina will assist you with what ever your needs are if at all possible. Great, friendly first stop when heading down stream from PicWick Lock.

Clifton Marina, 2013-10-31
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

Great, friendly, helpful, protected marina with competitive diesel price, small boat parts store and short order restaurant.

Give the cook a break!, 2013-10-29
Captain: , Nashville, TN (206)

I've been going here for years and always get the best service. Small but first rate. The grill is used for cooking up some pretty special stuff. My suggestion would be to call ahead, maybe even a couple of days (I missed the homemade chicken 'n dumplins by a day) to see what might be cooking around there. This is especially true when cruising spring up and fall down for a season.

Good Place, 2013-10-25
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (330)

Made reservation and they were there to get us settled. Very helpful staff. Clean restrooms, Would stop again.

Wonderful Stop, 2013-09-29
Captain: , Vermilion, OH (144)

Stopped at 8am for fuel and wanted to stay all day. These are the nicest people around. Small marina with good depth at 8-9'. Diesel 4.20 / gal.

clifton marina, 2013-06-07
Captain: , Louisville, Ky. (200)

nice stop with plenty of depth; protected as it is off river; hard to get supplies as stores not within walking distance; good food at marina;

Good stop super friendly staff, 2013-03-24
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1997)

Pulled in at dusk and the current was ripping but once inside nice and calm. As stated earlier Sonya is great and very accomodating.

The showers were so good with plenty of hot water at 5 am that I left my soap and shampoo behind by mistake.

Nice marina and a good waypoint to Pickwick, 2012-11-17
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

Very nice clean marina. Small but very adequate. The transients dock is an angled finger dock on the riight directly after you enter from the channel. The right side of the dock is deep and wide-ish. Boats with very wide beams at the waterline should use caution. Our beam is 15 and we were fine. The left side is fine. There is a pump out at the transient dock. Sonya is a southern belle.
Great waypoint to set you up for Pickwick if you get out early and not delayed by fog. Our route was Green Turtle Bay to Pebble Isle, Pebble Isle to Clifton, Clifton to Pickwick and Aqua Yacht Center, though the last leg did get hairy due to fog delay at Clifton and 2 hour delay at Pickwick. Ended up navigating at night to get to Aqua.
There is what looks like a very good anchorage at Diamond Island mm 195.5 if you want to pull up short of Pickwick.
Overall this is a nice place for one or two nights, strictly transient.

Nice place to stop, not more, 2012-11-15
Captain: , Hamburg,GER (310)

Shopping is difficult after the grocery store has burned down. Only place to get supplys is a Dollar Store and a gas station. Both only reachable with the curtesy car. Very small downtown area and for any sort of useful supply the curtesie car has to be taken off city limits (special permission required by marina stuff). Clifton itself has not much to offer. Personaly I can not see why Skipper Bob recommends this place so highly.

Great Place to Stay, 2012-11-07
Captain: , prospect, ky (415)

Very nice new marina. Gene and his staff are great! Good food in the restaurant.

Great food, Great Owner and Staff, 2012-10-25
Captain: , Kuttawa Kentucky (410)

Spent 3 days here. Was always entertained by all the friendly owners and staff. Ate some Great Gum-bo and spagetti cooked by Sonja.. Gene was always coming by to see how things were going. No grocery store close except Dollar store about 1.5 miles away. I will stay here next spring on my way back home. Be a nice place to stay year round.. Thanks Gene, Sonja, Coach and Cindy.. A definite place to stay.

Clean, friendly folks, and a nice spot for overnight, 2012-10-18
Captain: , Eagle Creek, Kentucky Lake (88)

Our favorite marina between Paris Landing State Park and Pickwich State Park on the Tennessee River. Small, well protected from wind, waves and weather, all around great facility with a friendly staff always ready to assist.

Well Maintained Marina, 2012-10-08
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

Friendly staff. Docks in excellent condition. Minimal transient dockage. Courtesty car was in use when we arrived. Walked to town. Not much there. Since it was a holiday, the historic library and museum were closed. Noticed a sign that the marina is for sale.

Great Spot With Wonderful People, 2012-10-03
Captain: , Corpus Christi, TX (106)

We spent three days and had a great time. Sonja, the manager, is wonderful as well as the other locals that stop by. We used the courtesy car and drove the thirty miles to Shiloh Battle Field. Well worth the trip. Just a mile from the Shiloh, we stopped at Hagy’s Catfish Hotel for a great meal. Clifton was an interesting stop.

Really neat spot, 2012-10-01
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Lots of water, easy access, 1.00 per foot, good power. Open late, very cordial. Previous good reviews all accurate.

Simply great., 2012-09-13
Captain: , Lighthouse Landing (10)

This is one of the most hospitable, best maintained, and service oriented marinas on this section of the Ky. Lake/Tennessee River. The restaurant has good sandwiches and the locals who hang out in the evenings are friendly and colorful. This was one of the best stops of a recent 200 mile trip.

Great Little Marina, 2012-08-13
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

We came here to spend an extra day and rest, due to weather we ended up staying another day. The marina staff is the best we have ever come across. No one docks without the help of their dock boy; everyone was out scurrying when we came in ahead of 4 other boats, even the owner was helping out. Just as a heads up call for a slip ahead of time, dock space could be at a premium. We%u2019ll stay here again on our trip back north.
Capt. Frank

Clean & tidy. Staff love their jobs., 2012-07-21
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Just a joy to stay at this marina. The transient docks are convenient and staff very helpful. Small town but somewhat interesting walk to visit. Courtesy car to grocery in town. Will return.

A great stop, 2012-06-02
Captain: , Kettering, Ohio (250)

Good water, great staff, competent help docking. Very friendly people, reasonable price, well protected. Will not pass it up on return...

Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

These folks have it wired. From the owner to the marina staff, these folks are about as friendly and helpful as they come. The marina is in great shape and everything you need is there. They have a courtesy car and everything. I wouldn't think of passing this marina without stopping.

An unexpected treat, 2011-11-04
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

Small marina with a great attitude. Good facilities, great laundry and convenience store & grill. They really try to do it right and they succeed. Stayed there twice in 2011. Very good wi-fi.

Very Friendly Marina marginal bathroom, 2011-10-21
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Smallish very easy in and out and very, very protected. Folks are very friendly. Strategically located for slow trawler from Peeble Is marina going upstream. Also good for reaching Pickwick Lock and lake as well as Yellow creek or beyond. Bathroom is accessed after hours via key pad and is in one small 8X8 room with the one shower and washer and dryer.

Small, friendly marina, 2011-10-16
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

Staff there to help us in. Small marina with limited room for transients, but there were four the night we were there. Courtesy car for short trip to grocery store in town. Restaurant on site (but we didn't try it) Overall we liked Clifton a lot.

Not fancy but very nice, 2011-10-08
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

Nice convienent Marina. Only room for 4-5 transients of 40' range, but they are very helpful. Great staff. Courtesy car available. We had 6-7 ft. in the channel and harbor.

Great Stop, 2011-09-14
Captain: , Marooned (135)

Couldn't ask for a nicer or more hospitable staff. They will literally go the extra mile for you. Happy hour get togethers are not to be missed.

Facilites are not luxurious, but quite adequate.

Friendly, good stop, 2011-06-15
Captain: , Collierville TN (977)

June 2011, third visit. Always good service.
Walmart 15 miles by courtesy car. Entrace is well marked but easily missed. Deep harbor. Our DeFever 49 (5ft draft) no problem.
Very sheltered. Our first stop after leaving Pickwick.

Make sure you stop here., 2010-10-19
Captain: , baltimore md (644)

Every thing you need and the BIG PLUS, Sonja will fix dinner for all of you. They handled 13 transit boats mid Oct. 2010. They took very good care of us.

Another Great Marina, 2007-07-09

Very good small marina. You can bike to town. Also a great Golf Course about two mile from marina. The marina let us use the car to play a round of golf.
