Reviews for Clearwater Harbor Marina
Recommend this marina, 2016-08-28
Captain: , St Petersburg, Fl (202)

We stayed here on Aug 26-27,2016. We reserved a slip using the online reservation system which worked well. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The docks are kept in excellent condition and are floating docks which make tie up very easy. The gates are locked for security and there is an overnight security guard who was also very polite and helpful. Showers are clean.

There is a small ferry that runs from this marina to Clearwater Beach where there is an abundance of restaurants and of course the beach itself. The aquarium with "Winter the Dolphin" also has a ferry boat that runs to the aquarium that leaves from the marina.

First Class Stop, 2016-04-24
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We arrived on 4-22-16 after a 25 hour run from Apalachichicolak, FL. Very tired. On-line reservation worked welll before departure. on arrival Dock Master Mike selected a great slip F3, secure, tie along We stayed 3 nights. All employee's very professional. They are very orgainzed registration right at the boat and credit card run on phone. Simple and convenient.. Rest rooms Large and Spotless but a hike to them. Local Jolly Trolly $2.50 all day Senior pass took us to DunEdin, Fl and Tarpon Springs. The Pierce Market Saturday at top of dock. This is a very great stop and one Clearwater,FL can be proud of. Would have rated 5 Stars if they had cable T.V. Wi-FI worked Great/ Capt Helen and Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ! Also MTOA Port Captain and AGLCA Harbor Host Ron Matuska 15 min away in DunEdin, Fl is a gracious host and a great help

Great, but not perfect, 2016-04-16
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (164)

A conveniently located facility with great docks, run by the friendliest people you've ever met. Several nice restaurants to choose from right up the street, a Publix just a 10 minute walk away, and even a nearby Starbucks. No noise at all from the nearby bridge, which was quite a surprise. The Jolly Trolley has a stop at the marina, and for $5 you can ride it all over town all day, and all the way up to Tarpon Springs or Dunedin for sightseeing. There were only two things that we didn't like about it. The way the marina is laid out, it seems like a mile walk to get to the marina office where the restrooms, showers and laundry were located. It was so far that we didn't bother using them. And the town of Clearwater is apparantly the world headquarters for the Church of Scientology, and all the church members wandering the streets at all hours of the day and night, all dressed alike, carrying clipboards and peering in windows and writing things down contantly, gives the town a very weird vibe. Not that they were a problem. They wouldn't interact with us at all. It just seemed really odd.

First class facility; first class staff, 2016-03-13
Captain: , Louisville, TN (20)

We can't say enough good things about the quality of our experience. In addition to being a top notch facility with top notch staff, it is convenient to downtown Clearwater's theater, restaurants and Publix market. Also, the bus service provides access to Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, St. Pete and the beach. The new ferry service took us directly from the marina to a choce of two Clearwater beach areas or the Aquarium, Publix and Island Way Grill. Only their wifi needs significant improvement; however, I understand that they are working on it.

Great organization at a friendly marina, 2015-12-10
Captain: , Galena, Ohio (50)

We stayed 5 days in this clean, friendly, well managed marina after crossing from Port St. Joe. It is quiet and very different than Clearwater Beach Marina. Walking distance to Publix, close to the Jolley Trolley stop. We enjoyed all staff and would like to mention RoseAnn and Tom. RoseAnn insisted on driving me back to the boat on her golf cart with my laundry. We were asked so many times what they could do for us, I felt like we should come up with something just to keep them happy! Say hi to the young captains of the Ferry that dock near the transient slips. They are good guys too.

Easy place to stop after a wonderful crossing, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

After an 18 hour fanatastic crossing from Carrabelle we settled in here. It's a very easy place to dock with great concrete docks and very nice and handy help to tie up. At first we were worried that being under the bridge we woud hear traffic all night -- but somehow they've built a quiet bridge -- we never once heard a car or truck! Amazing. While the town is very accessible, in the end I'd recommend going across to the Beach marina if you're looking for access to shopping and restaurants -- as the better ones are located there. That said -- we did find a fabulous spot for lunch -- Kara Lynn's. She makes perhaps the best chicken taco we've ever had and every one of the five of us raved about our meal. Definately worth a stop (or two).

Terrific Marina in a Terrific Location, 2015-08-29
Captain: , Venice (208)

Wife and I spent seven days here earlier this month and thoroughly enjoyed the Marina and the city of Clearwater. Their 'Stay five night and get 2 free' offer makes the stay economical. The Marina and facilities are kept super clean and the staff (Mike and Austin to name 2) are courteous, professional and very helpfull. We had a peaceful and quite stay; not at all like the city's Beach Marina. Floating docks with electric and cable included in the dock fee. Pump out is free too. The seperate heads and showers are spacious and kept super clean also. It was not as much of a walk to these facilities as some reviews said.
There are plenty of things to see and do in and around Clearwater. Downtown is just up the hill with shops and restaurants and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a free trolley ride away and is well worth a visit. On weekends the county runs a trolley North to Dunedin and the Greek community of Tarpon Springs with lots of restaurants and shops.
This was the highlite of out vacation.

Great Overnight Spot , 2015-07-06
Captain: , Palm Harbor, FL (30)

We spent the weekend of the 4th and enjoyed front row seats to Clearwater's fireworks. The staff are always helpful and the floating docks are nice. If there is a drawback it's the hike to the bathrooms and showers.

Second stay in 2 weeks!, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (20)

This is a great marina. Up to date and ready to handle just about any boat. The staff is kind and incredibly helpful. Take the new Clearwater water taxi to the beach. This place is great!

Great Stay! Great Docks! Great Staff!, 2015-05-31
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (10)

We stayed here for a week aboard our 40' Bristol with 5.4 draft. Easy in/out access to the Gulf. The staff was top notch! The floating docks are such a breeze.

Top notch facility, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Coconut Grove, USA (121)

We stayed one night on our way down to Venice. Tom waited for us and helped us at the dock, loaned us a cable splitter, he was great help. The floating docks are really nice to avoid dealing with the tide. Easy going in and out.

The bathrooms are a short walk away, didn't really bother us.

Several restaurants a few blocks away and a nice dog park right next to to the marina.

We arrived after crossing the Gulf on Wednesday. Arrived at Clearwater Harbor Marina just at dark on Thursday. We draft 6 feet and had no issues getting in. Security guard was there waiting to guide us to slip and help tie up. Wind and current were pushing us into dock. We were both tired and hungry and she suggested a pizza place up the road. Of course, by then it was after 9:00 pm and they closed at 10:00. So... much to our surprise while we were getting all tucked in she got on the phone and called to tell the pizza place that she was sending a couple of boaters over so please wait for them. How incredibly kind!! We had great pizza at Tonys and a wonderful nite at the Marina. You can get right off you boat and walk right into town - library is right across the street. Clean, secure and very easy access. Definitely would recommend to any boater!!

Great spot, 2015-02-08
Captain: , palm harbor (160)

Just moved in here and it is a great spot only a short distance from Clearwater inlet. Mike and Tom worked hard to get me a spot as there are only 3 slips that accomodate my beam. Floating docks in great shape and once inside the currents are manageable. Looking forward to a long stay here. Only bad thing is it is a long walk to the bath/showers. Since we live close by this is not really much of a concern for us. The park adjacent to the marina has different shows/festivals throughout the year and it is good that we can listen from the boat. Although not a liveaboard marina, they allow I believe 6-8 stays per month.

Great Marina sper area, 2015-02-06
Captain: , Fisherville,Ky (40)

This is almost a 5 star for me. Awesome Dockmasters Mike& Tom willing to help with everything. The only drawback for was the office/laundry/Bathrooms were located a 1/4 mile away. hope they can address this shortfall.

great stay, 2015-01-19
Captain: , Pensacola,Fl (80)

Easy access (watch the current), quiet, well kept floating docks, secure. Able to walk the downtown area, less than one mile to Publix, Jolly Trolley to Clearwater Beach, Dunedin and Tarpon Springs, all deserving a visit. Pump outs on both the north and south docks. Negatives are the walk to the bathrooms, about 300 yards, but clean and nice and fuel is only available across the bay at Clearwater Beach Marina, also city-owned. Alot of birds on the docks but hosed down daily. We liked the quiet of the Harbor Marina over the Beach Marina: lots of commercial traffic in and out at Beach, and narrower fixed wooden slips.
Best part of the marina are Dockmasters Mike and Tom - both checked in with us several times to see if we needed anything and made suggestions for things to do that we might not know about. Tom even gave us his personal cell number for Christmas day when everyone had a day off, "just in case".
We took our kayaks for many trips around the bay, finding both urban and natural tuck-aways, and biking on the Pinellas Trail was an easy pleasure and a fun way to get to Dunedin.

Courtesy dock used to access Publix, 2015-01-02
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (1900)

Needed to get provisions and called ahead to ask about distance and directions to Publix. Tom answered and treated us great. We arrived a couple of hours later and Tom came out to help us dock. He gave us a map with detailed directions to get to Publix and could not have been nicer in welcoming us to Clearwater. Also said if you stay 5 nights you get 2 free. Nice floating docks that made docking easy. Starbucks just up the road from marina.

Modern, clean, great staff and central location, 2014-11-21
Captain: , Denver, CO (55)

Spent a week here after crossing the Big Bend from Appalachacola.

Very friendly and helpful harbormasters. Mike and Tom went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The marina docks are floating concrete, very substantial, wide, with heavy duty cleats and kept clean and well maintained. The cable TV, which is available on the transient section power stations, is in good working order and has a very large selection of channels. The restrooms are modern, well equipped and very clean. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and very well maintained. The area feels secure. The transient slips are easy in and out and are very well protected from all ICW wakes. The free pump out station is located on the outer floating dock and very easy to access. The only downside to the marine is the location of the restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. While top rate, they are a fair distance away, a couple hundres yards or so.

The marina is located next to a city owned park which is quiet. There is plenty of free parking day and night parking if you rent a vehicle while there. It is a two short block walk to the Cleveland Avenue downtown redevelopment district, while still an ongoing project, has a number of restaurants and shops.

The city of Clearwater offers an inexpensive and frequent trolley system, ($1.00?). It has a stop at the marina gate, and covers much of downtown Clearwater, the Clearwater Beach island and Dunedin, a community about 4 miles north, which is a must see.

Great dockmasters, a bit spendy, 2014-11-12
Captain: , Fort Collins, CO (107)

Stayed here several days. The dockmasters were terrific folks. Dealt mostly with Tom, who loaned me a tv cable from his own house. All the guys went well beyond what could be expected. Good floating slips. Close to downtown. Easy ride to the beach on the Jolly Trolly (sometimes a little tough getting back though.) Only thing that could be improved is the restroom facilities which were a long walk. Also, the shower room has no curtain and no outside place to put your belongings. So everything gets a bit moist when you shower. Rates at $2 per foot are a bit steep.

Excellent Marina, 2014-11-05
Captain: , Houston, TX (170)

Everyone is very friendly and willing to help you get what ever you need. They work hard to make this a very plesant marina to stay. It is close walking distance to Cleveland street that has farmers markets, shops, and restaurants. It has really beautiful sunsets too. Execellent staff !!!! Restroom/showers are a little hike to get to but they are clean.

Great protection and helpful staff, 2014-04-11
Captain: , Greenville SC (250)

Mike was very helpful in getting us settled in, and in helping us leave the docks. Good all around protection on the north docks. Publix within easy walking distance, and several good places to enjoy a meal, or a drink and entertainment. Only downside is the limited bathroom and laundry facilities. Not as bad a hike from the north docks, but would be a very long walk from the south docks.

An excellent location for visiting the area off boat., 2014-02-20
Captain: , Columbus OH (70)

Tom, the Dockmaster, gave excellent directions to our dock and greeted us on our arrival. He helped us get settled and gave us a large welcome packet with carry bag, maps and local information. The concrete floating docks are in great shape and they do what they can to clean up after the seagulls. Everything is close and some ground transportation is free. The scenery is above average, too.

Very Nice Floating Docks, 2014-01-31
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (570)

Tom, the Dockmaster, warmly greeted us on our arrival. He helped us get settled and gave us a helpful welcome packet with maps and local information. The concrete floating docks are in great shape. There is fast wifi and cable TV that works. There is a pump out boat that comes around once a week as well as a pump out station on the dock, both are free of charge. There is a nice Starbucks a few blocks away.

Great service, 2014-01-03

Great floating docks, very clean. Tom, Gary & Mike are very friendly dock masters and go out of there way to help. 24 beam tri no problem.

beautiful marina, 2013-12-10
Captain: , Bon Secour, Alabama (22)

We stopped here on our way to St Petersburg. Previous posters are correct about the distance to the restrooms but the helpful makes up for the downside. Tom went way beyond the call of duty to help us get our cable hooked up. Great staff.

Sister Marina to Clearwater Beach Marina, 2013-12-09
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (356)

This marina is the sister Marina to Clearwater Beach Marina. After staying at the Beach Marina for 2 weeks, found out I could rotate between the two under the same weekly rate. Two marinas for the price of one! Not as many activities, but cetainly newer facilties then on the beach. Harbor Marina is on the GIWW, Beach Marina is straight west less than a mile.

Great Location, 2013-06-23
Captain: , League City, Texas (252)

Clean marina with helpful staff. Location near downtown with easy access to grocery store, restaurants, public transportation and area attractions. We took dingy to beachside marina several times and enjoyed free dingy dock, restaurants, and large clean beach.

Awesome Place, 2013-01-23
Captain: , indecision (83)

Stopped here to get out of the weather. The entire staff are very very friendly and helpfull. The facility is kept very clean and the docks are gated and security is there at night. It is well protected from wind and waves. Would tell anyone that its a must stop

Clean and New, 2013-01-05
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

The staff here is very helpful in getting you into your slip. The docks are relatively new floating concrete. But be prepared to walk a long way to get off the dock and then down the shoreline to the office, bathroom/showers, and laundry. We liked this better than the sister marina over on Clearwater Beach, but less to do.

Clearwater Harbor Marina, 2012-04-17
Captain: , Iuka, MS (75)

We stayed two weeks and enjoyed it very much. The marina is new and clean. The floating docks are nice. Security is great. The dock personnel were very helpful; met us at our slip and helped us secure the boat. A dock person came each day to check on us. At the end of our stay they were helpful in getting our holding tank emptied.
In addition to several good resturants, there is a fine library within a short walk of the marina.
We would definitely come again.

Clean, well maintained marina, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Harbor Marina is new, plenty of room for transients. But note you cannot stay more than one week here. You can stay across the ICW at Clearwater Beach. If you make arrangements with the Harbormaster, you can start your stay here and move over to the Beach and still qualify for the monthly rate. Only a few restaurants downtown within walking distance. The Jolly Trolly does stop right out front and goes over the the Publix on Island Causeway. Harbor Marina quiet, not much going on, except when events at the park.

Very Nice but be prepared to walk!, 2011-10-29
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (944)

This new (2 year old) marina is located right in downtown Clearwater but not much to offer within walking distance. Shuttle does make getting around realtively easy. The concrete floating docks provide good protection if your are on the "inside" of the basin (be sure and request that when you make your reservation). The bath house and dockmaster's office is a hike from the south basin (about 600 yards) and less from the north basin (about 300 yards). Good security with double lock gates. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

Good location., 2011-10-18

Great location, terrific facility, downtown Clearwater everything close, great people, absolute must stop.

July 4th 2011, 2011-07-10
Captain: , Ozona (20)

We just spent July 4th here which was our first time at this marina.
Very good access to the north side docks entrance from the ICW with plenty of manuevering room even for a single screw flybridge.
All in all a very nice marina with top of the line floating concrete docks.
One of the dock hands named Mark (with an english accent ) was very friendly and met us as we entered our slip at the marina. He offered to rent us the key to the showers and access gate right away, at our slip, which was really nice since it was a VERY LONG walk to the shore.
We were slipped on the north side of the causeway (50 amp service only, 30 amp available on southside of causeway only) on E-dock which is right next to the ICW.
Drawbacks for our first time, one night stay are -
Very Very Hot in the summer.
Very Very long walk to shore - gotta be 3/8 mile+ from the end of E-dock.
Only 50amp service available on the north side of the bridge - 30amp available only on south side of bridge.
Not Much more to do within walking distance unless there is something going on at Coachman Park which is right nex to this marina,
I can't comment on the shoreside facilities, the admiral was the only one that went to shore and then only to the office to pay for the slip.
We'll be back for the Fall / Winter.

Great facility, 2011-06-10
Captain: , Indian Rocks Beach (296)

State of the art marina, but not much to do nearby. Works well though when there is a music festival in Coachman park next door. Great, friendly staff.

City of Clearwater Downtown Docks, 2011-04-10
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (551)

The docks are new, floating concrete docks with water and electricity. Although it is located in a No-Wake zone, the outer dock has a wave-attenuating feature. The current runs strong with the tide. We prefer the main Municipal marina because it is on the beach, closer to restaurants and activity. Also, this marina restricts the length of stay for transients. Maximum transient stay aboard is two weeks. No monthly stays allowed. Then staff is excellent. Pump out and washer and dryer available. Its a long walk from the south docks to the office/showers/rest rooms. If you need these facilities, ask for the north docks.

Downtown Boatslips are great!, 2011-03-18
Captain: , Palm Harbor, FL (10)

State-of-the-art floating concrete with active passive-mitigation, these facilties are less than a year old. The downtown boat slips are an extension of the Clearwater Municipal on the other side of the harbor. Cable TV, power, dock boxes by the drink, great staff, responsive to the needs of slip-renters, pump out facilities and discounted fuel across the harbor. Added bonus: "Jolly Trolley" comes by every 30 minutes to run you or your kids over to the beach side for the wilder side...otherwise the marina is very quiet and peaceful. The best of both worlds! We've also found pizza and chinese that deliver right to the marina gate. The sunsets are breath-taking, access to the gulf is 1/2 mile with no bridge issues and we sit right on the ditch in the harbor. The downside is there is no pool or club house type ammenities which would be included in similarly priced marinas.. Also, few people respect the no-wake zone established and expanded by the city of Clearwater.
