Reviews for Clarks Landing Marina
Its got its good points and some bad points, 2012-06-21
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1777)

First, the good -
Sal, the dock master rocks! Rest of the staff is helpfull, too.
Shore facilities such as store, parts, service, restaurant are very good.
Very short walk to Dollar General and other stores.
Low price for the area.

And the bad -
IMHO Manesquan inlet and harbor is a crummy place. Shallow, idle speed does not exist. Inlet is at difficult.
Docks are fixed wooden but serviceable.
Marina is dredged but close quarters. The satelite photos make it look like a lot of water around but the dredged areas are very close to the docks.
Narrow slips with pilings. Maybe 17 or 18 feet wide. Feels tighter.
Did I mention its shallow?
THIS IS A FISHING BOAT MARINA. Out of 150 slips and almost as many boats ours and only two others were not fishing boats. Fishing boats are fine but it indicates that the marina is not neccessarily suited for transient looping boats and crews.

One nice story to tell - when we were approaching the inlet I radioed an excursion boat to let him know that I saw him and recognized he would get there first. The captain appreciated my communication and even offered some local knowledge on the inlet and harbor. His advise was basically to STAY IN THE CHANNEL!

If you have to stop here on the way up to, or down from New York BEWARE of the unfavorable conditions in Manesquan. In the Acitive Captain info on the inlet it uses the word HAZARDOUS. But that is not the marinas fault. Nuff said. Be on your toes.

Good transient Dockage, 2011-06-25
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

get's 3 stars due to tight dockage which you must stern in which is tough for a single engine boat. Rocking from passing boats not good. Staff is outstanding and facilities are good. Cheaper than most marinas in area, and being so close to the inlet, it makes the run to Sandy Hook or NYC nice and short, even for slow boats.

Clarks Landing-Memorial Day Weekend, 2011-05-29
Captain: , Cortez, Fl (20)

Found the staff very helpful, showers and bathrooms clean. We did enjoy the town. Grocery and shops within walking distant. However, the boats on Manasquan River run full speed all day long. Boats in the marina rock and roll all day. Rocking only slowed down late at night. Slips very narrow, must back in

Clarks Landing during N'Easter, 2010-08-31
Captain: , charleston (761)

virtually no protection from waves from wind and boat
nozzle for fuel would not fit our diesel tanks
staff particularly not helpful during difficult time
showers, restrooms and cafe on grounds very good

Excellent, 2007-02-01
Captain: , Jackson, NJ (13)

Purchased my first boat there 7 years ago! Excellent facilities, however be aware that the channel is not too well marked and shallow. Great floating dock facilities, store and restuarant. A friend who slips his boat there did complain that some of the slips are somewhat exposed to wakes from passing traffic on the river.
