Reviews for Manistee Municipal Marina
Enjoyed the marina and the town, 2016-08-12
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2444)

I won't repeat all the good things said in previous reviews, but we agree this was a terrific stop. We enjoyed the downtown shops and free concert on Thu evening.

The Family Value grocery store has a great selection and is 1.5 miles on Rt 32 all uphill. Millers is much closer and has a tiny selection by comparison, but it was a great place to get some nice produce and fresh-baked goods at great prices.

Great Stopover, 2016-08-02
Captain: , Mystic, CT (180)

Relaxing stay at very nice facilities. Setting is picturesque. New building housing the boaters lounge, laundry, washrooms and showers. Docks are in good shape. Dock attendants do a great job of guiding you into the slip and securing the boat. Quite the sight and experience when one of the 600 plus foot freighters navigates its way by the marina & your vessel out to Lake Michigan %u2013 spectacularly impressive sight. Lots of history, shopping and restaurants near the marina. Groceries are now a bit of a hike. The closest grocer a few blocks away this week went out of business. Wi-Fi best nearest the dock house. Verizon worked OK but signal strength locally was 2 bars or less. Much enjoyed the river walk from Lake MI to Manistee Lake.

Great Stop, 2016-07-17
Captain: , Grand Haven (20)

Stopped here overnight to wait out some weather. Great downtown location. Scott was very helpful and helped tie the boat up in the rain. The municipal marina building (showers, etc.) is new and fantastic.

Location is Superb!, 2015-08-23
Captain: , Marathon, Florida (110)

While the docks are not in the best shape, they are safe and sufficient and the boater's lounge is top notch. The best feature, however, is the proximity to this lovely town that has done a great job in reinventing from a manufacturing & production town to tourism & fishing. Suspect many boaters miss this gem - don't be one of them!

Beautiful Restored town, 2015-08-23
Captain: , Little River, SC (1967)

The river is fairly narrow and the docks here are older wooden finger piers but are servicable. Power poles are on shore so you will need all of your 50ft power cord. The town is very nice and the marina is right in the middle of it. Grocery is an easy walk acxross the bridge. Having our evening cocktails on the back deck we were surprised by a big ship horn blast. A 600+ft freighte was moving down the river literally not more than 100yards from our back deck. Quite a site. We would have stayed here a second night but a weather window opened up on the lake so we left the next morning.

Outstanding stop, rest Marina, in town, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Lots to do here, highly recommend the Muni marina. Excellent staff, we are 48 ft and stayed on the wall which was very good. Wall and Marina are right on the 2 mike board walk that goes from town to Lake Mich. Plenty of restaurants in town. You can call the casino which is about 5 miles out of town and they will pick u up at no cost. The shuttle runs hourly. The river is a great dingy exploring opportunity. The new marina facilities are to notch. The fixed docks are in very good condition. The fuel dock is short . Diesel was $2.75/gal and 90 octane gas was $3.99/gal.Electric was 240 v.Good stop!

Larger boats should use the wall, 2015-07-13
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Avoid the old slips perpendicular to the river current by using the nice indented wall spots just below the first bascule bridge. We got to see the freighter Manitowoc up close as it entered and left town both during our stay. River walk is special. Lots of early morning fishing activity. Glad we didn't skip it--I think many boaters do.

A favorite!, 2014-07-20
Captain: , Montague, MI (140)

My family loves stopping here, we usually tie up along the wall. They have a very unique setting with the river walk, town just over the river bank, draw bridges, ice cream and very helpful staff. If you dinghy to the main entrance at the end of the channel there is a nice beach you can use too. If coming near the 4th of July they typically have a lot of events like arts and crafts, parade and fireworks. Marina has never been full while we've been there but I'm told during fishing tournaments they do fill up. Hope you get a chance to enjoy it.

new Bldg but same old docks, 2014-07-05
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

I was here 5 years ago and since then they have built a new Marina bldg with very nice bathrooms and showers and lounge. The only draw back is the dock are still the same old docks and the power is 208 volts if a concern to anyone with 240 motors. Staff seems very responsive and willing to help.

Welcoming Folks, 2014-01-22
Captain: , Saugatuck, MI (44)

While the town has a ways to go as far as appeal. The marina folks are great, modern bath and lounge. Run in a first class manner. Board walk great. Dingy opportunities abound. A few nice restaurants moving in along the river walk. And of course House of Flavor ice cream all make this is pleasant stop.

Nicely Redone Bathrooms, 2013-09-25
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (358)

Nice marina right downtown. Good restaurants and shops within close walking distance. Bathrooms, showers, and boaters lounge was very nicely redone recently (2012?) and a short walk from slips. Staff is helpful in informing you of the tricky cross current and assisting in docking.

Miss Mae Morgan, 2013-08-08
Captain: , Milwaukee (60)

Municipal Marina rocks! Very clean and super friendly help, everything needed is with in walking distance, and the river traffic actually follows the no wake rule!

Great Stop, 2013-08-07
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

Echo the park like setting and the new Boater's Building is really nice. Several nice restaurants along the Riverwalk.
The dockage fees are reasonable and fall within the Michigan DNR scale. We paid $67 for a 45' boat.
Echo the concern on a current running to the lake during docking procedures. The marina did advise us of the current and they were there to help.
We definetely would stay here again.

Downtown location, 2013-08-07
Captain: , Britt, Ontario, Canada (184)

Friendly staff and easy walk to main street, groceries, etc. $52.00 for 38 ft. Beautiful boardwalk and gardens.

So-So marina, 2013-02-06
Captain: , Lakeside Yacht Club (250)

Decent current in the river makes docking a little tricky although staff is there to help. Not much in town. One night stay is enough

Excellent Facilities., 2012-07-25
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

New boaters lounge, showers, and heads. Fixed wooden docks are old but still serviceable and safe. Nice town. Marina in small park like setting. Marina staff is excellent. Dockage for our 36 foot boat was $49/night including electricity. Well protected.

Manistee Municipal, 2011-11-26
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Brand New facilities. Helpful workers and close to town. Channel walkway with benches clean and well landscaped. A small dog run on the west end of the marina. The rest of the channel walk is off limits to pets. I walked our dog up on the hill on the city sidewalks and in vacant lots west of the business district. No one complained when I brought the boat dog from the marina office back to the boat.

Great facility, great town to visit, 2011-08-30
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

New showers/restooms/laundry. Full service (Oleson's) grocery a short walk, bike ride away. Helpful dock staff. Right on the Riverwalk, so lots of pedestian traffic looking at the boats.

Location is prime reason to stay., 2011-08-25
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Riverwalk is wonderful and runs lake to lake. Museum is interesting. Take trolley tour, very good info. Shops & restaurants are dated. Lake freighter traffic through town is very interesting! Docks are old but new boaters facility.

Right Downtown, 2011-08-23
Captain: , Jensen Beach FL (138)

Nice facility. Right on the Riverwalk. The marina main building was just put in service this year. All brand new and clean. The docks on the other hand are in need of rebuilding. They have done some but there are several more that need to be done as yet. Not a reason to skip it. The town itself is trying to reinvent itself but as usual is a slow process. The Riverwalk is a nice feature of the area.

Good place to stop, 2011-08-17
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

Stayed here for 3 days due to weather. Very helpful dock hands.

Town is very close. Grocery is a bit of a walk but not bad.

Nice restaurants close. Men's and women's hair and nail facilities within walking distance.

Fuel dock is a bit small but doable, we are a 42 footer.

Home away from home, 2011-06-28
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (680)

First class marina with everything you require. Wi Fi, laundry and dryers, a first clas lounge and very helpful staff.
Manistee is a great town with a good supermarket ten minutes away, a hardware store a little farther and many good storers on their front street. Plenty of deep water as well. Diesel and gas too.

Good but old, 2010-08-19
Captain: , St. Joseph, MI (814)

Currently undergoing some renovation so the bathrooms/showers are not available. They gave me a discount on my fee (only $20 for 36-foot boat). Town is nice but sleepy. Groceries requires walking to town, then across the bridge to the other side of the river (south side). Mosquitos got us until we put up the screens and netting. Riverwalk is a nice place to stroll (but no pets).

Manistee Municipal, 2010-07-29
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Another nice michigan marina with reasonable rates. The docks are fixed, but not too high. Neat little town with many restaurants and shops. Boardwalk is very nice.

Currently the facilities are out due to them rebuilding the bath house.

OK but not great., 2010-06-07
Captain: , Grove, OK (337)

Arrived Manistee with reasonable help docking. Found out after docking that their showers and laundry were out of order (being renovated). They should have advised when we made the reservations....thus the three star rating. The Riverwalk was nice, but had "no dog" signs everywhere. The town of Manistee was very interesting. The Historical Society Museum in the Lynum Building was worth the time. We tried to tour the Ramsdell Theater but were told an orchestra was using the hall...the people working there didn't seem to know anything about public tours --- not at all like the guide books and their web site. Manistee is still a nice stop.

Great location, 2009-07-22
Captain: , Sturgeon Bay, WI (287)

The marina is well located within easy walking distance to downtown Manistee. The Riverwalk is a nice walkway all along the Manistee river. The negative is the boat traffic. Early morning fishing traffiic is relatively heavy.

Nice marina. Tall docks., 2009-07-21
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (1109)

Overall a nice marina and a beautiful channel to dinghy down. The docks are dated and have pilings. Very prompt to anwser the VHF with dockhands who will meet you as you arrive to assist with holding the vessel, however, they don't cleat you off. Short walking distance to town. Bath facilities are available, however they are also dated.
