Additional info:

Don't venture down the lake without local knowledge. Stay close to the docks when entering.

It was reported at near low tide in March 2011 and per the dockmaster: close to the docks means very close. Five or even four feet of water is within 50 of the ends of the docks. Do NOT cut the corner between the end of the first, longer dock and the second shorter dock; follow the lines of the docks and stay close to the T-heads. That will mean turning as if into the fairway after the long dock and turning again within a boat length or two to stay close but along the outside of the docks.

Tide & current additional info

There is a big current swirl between A and B docks that is strong enough to push a boat unexpectedly.

Additional info: They have a few ramps to use to get on and off the stern of your boat.

B, C & D docks have been rebuilt. They are adding a foot of concrete on top of the old docks and making the center one foot wider on each side, which shortens the already short finger piers. Fingers are 14' long and the outter pilings are another 15' out, for a 29' depth. This is short for the 45'ers they put in these slips. Fingers are 5' above the water at low tide and 3' at high tide, this can be a challange for some boats. They did not upgrading the power, still only a single 30 amp outlet for each slip except the T-heads which have 50 amp.

Reviews for City of Hollywood Marina and Fuel Dock
Inexpensive off season (summer) not bad winter also, 2017-05-31
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Margarettaville now open, and adding on icw bar with docks!
uber abailable, decent wifi, secure high concrete fixed docks, short fingers. close to martaritaville

nice fixed docks, protected, clean rest rooms, summer. Only 30 amp was available. Finger piers are very short. secure marina.
Take the dinghy or walk up the strip along the icw east side, north of marina. Fun bars and resturants, and a convienence store on the h20!

Great Marina Great People!, 2017-05-17
Captain: , New York City (10)

Matt runs a great operation at Hollywood Marina. Super professional staff and super nice. Tucked away in a uncrowded spot of South Florida. You are a quick walk or dinghy from some great restaurants and the beautiful boardwalk of Hollywood Beach. Highly recommended place to put in for a sailboat.

Excellent Stay, 2017-03-01
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (110)

We arrived at Hollywood City Marina on December 27th and spent 2 months on D dock in our 36ft Beneteau sailboat. We quickly felt at home surrounded by great neighbors and friendly, knowledgable staff. We were often entertained with Superbowl parties, movie nights and great stories from fellow cruisers. Hollywood City Marina is situated within walking distance to the beach, Publix, Walgreens and the many bars and restaurants along the ICW and Hollywood Circle. The marina facilities were always kept clean and parking passes were issued to marina residents and guests. We felt very secure during our time at the marina with hourly security patrols throughout the night and the Hollywood Marine Police located in the Marina office building. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Hollywood City Marina. A big thanks to Matt and his team as well as the residents of D dock for making our stay so memorable!

Excellent choice for short or long term stay, 2017-02-17
Captain: , Portland (30)

We arrived in desperate need of a slip after purchasing our boat. What started out as a seven day visit turned into a 13 month stay due to a series of unforeseen circumstances and lucky breaks. The staff took excellent care of us and our vessel. We left the boat with them over the summer and they were very attentive to our inquiries in our absence. Great access to shopping, supplies, restaurants, entertainment and Hollywood Beach. I highly recommend them for any length of stay.

Great Stay, 2017-02-14
Captain: , Corpus Christi (406)

We had some electrical problems and Matt and his crew got us into a slip and then proceeded to go out of their way to help us get the issues resolved. We stayed a week. Very clean facility.

We had very friendly and helpful neighbors on D dock who also invited us to their Superbowl party on the dock. Wonderful time and game.
Hollywood area is safe and convenient for beach and evening activities. We had a very nice stay.

Good location, good price and friendly staff, 2017-02-02
Captain: , Montreal (22)

This marina is clean, the infrastructures are well maintained and the staff is helpful and friendly. If you need to shop for food%u2026 a car rental is preferable; a parking is reserved for marina guess. Access to the western docks is shallow, keep very close to the docks.

Good Fuel Stop, 2017-01-22
Captain: , Cape Canaveral, FL (280)

Advertised diesel fuel price $2.65. I wish I didn't wait until getting to the Keys to fuel.

Easy & cheapest fuel stop, 2016-12-05

Came in 2 hrs after high tide with 8' water traveling southbound right off ice

Hollywood City Marina, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Jax beach (10)

This is a gem of a marina, the fuel dock was easy in with help ready to assist. Fuel was $2.30 a gal for Diesel. The docking was different since we had to stern in (there are no fingers) but we had three guys assisting us to make it no stress and they even provided a ramp to board the boat. The docking cost was $1.22 a foot including tax It is fenced and gated the grounds were clean no wakes noted even though it is on on the intercoastal. My wife (the fisherman) was given fishing lessons on how to rig a ballyhoo, thanks Terry. The beach is with in walking distance with several restaurants on the board walk. Every one was friendly and very professional.

Best value anywhere, nice town, great people., 2016-03-29
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1146)

Easy walk to the beach over the bridge, many restaurants and shops right on the beach. Free wifi, although you might need to sit at the tables outside the office with an iPad, although my laptop works OK all the way out on D dock. Very nice people working here, they'll do anything for you. Only 30 amp circuit where we were about the only real negative, but we made do.

Hollywood Fl Marina, 2016-02-24
Captain: , Virginia (10)

Rob, Mike and Matt were very helpful and accommodating. Took on fuel, water and pumped out. Asked if they had any slips now available, Rob said he would check and there was one open that may have the beam we required. It did. Staff very helpful in getting into the slip. Was difficult to get off the stern of the boat, so they found and altered a ramp that we could use. We are on Dock A which has no side fingers to assist getting off. Back up to a fixed concrete dock so hard to disembarque. Facitities were clean and the marina has a security fence and 24 hour security. Also, the prices are what they should be, i.e., not outrageous. Diesel was $1.99 a gal and dockage was $1.25 a foot all inclusive. Try to find that else where.

Great place, very friendly dock staff, 2016-02-22
Captain: , Kingston, Ontario (1970)

Came through 20 Feb, diesel $1.99/gal, so we topped up.
Very friendly place, super dock hand.

Good price for Diesel, 2016-01-13
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (3189)

Passing by saw Diesel price $2.18 so topped off tank. Called on VHF and dock hand came out promtly to help us dock. Nice friendly staff at marina.

Would stop again, 2015-12-22
Captain: , PAFB Manatee Cove Marina (70)

The attendant Rob was very polite and helpful. We had to wait for another boat to finish fueling but the price was worth the wait. No discounts but lower prices than in the area.
Only negative is they did not answer the phone or the radio.

Good alternative to Las Olas, 2015-11-20
Captain: , Hartfield, VA (160)

Stopped here because boat show had maxed out all marinas in FtLauderdale.

Easly access to ICW but proteced from wakes.
As you enter the marina, "A" dock is first one on left after fuel dock
Fixed concrete docks are unforgiving, short finger piers. Stay close to the ends of the docks when navigating, the shoal starts about 50 ft off the ends.
lFriendly staff, we will come back

Great location and price, 2015-06-23
Captain: , Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4686)

Very convenient and comfortable marina. Prices are so good that there is almost no turnover on slips. Dockmaster says that several folks pay annual just to have a slip during the high [winter] season. Correction to previous review, 50 amp available on the long A dock only.

Pass this one by, 2015-03-10
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (225)

On a quiet Sunday in March we tried to hail the harbormaster on the radio several times from a mile north and no one answered. When we approached the harbor we tried again. We could see the dockmaster on the fuel dock finishing up with a motorboat, but he didn't answert our call. We called with our cell phone and he picked up our second call, but said hed call us back. After 15 minutes we tried again and he said he didnt have any available slips. By this time we missed the bridge opening and had to wait another half hour.

Nice Marina, friendly staff , 2014-11-10
Captain: , Miami, FL (85)

I stop here periodically for fuel. The attendants have been very helpful and fuel prices are among the best in the area. Twice I have ventured over to the slips and ramp area. Please heed the advice to stay close to the docks. It gets very shallow at low tide. I draw 3 1/4 ft and got very nervous during one low tide entry

How Wrong Can One Man Be, 2014-05-10
Captain: , Lady Lake (30)

Called ahead and secured a slip for the night. When I was approaching the marina I call on 16 and was given exact instructions on how to find my slip. Better yet, I was informed on how to enter the marina. When I arrived at the slip a dock hand was waiting to assist me in securing the boat.

I lost an engine due to overheating coming into the marina and spoke with the dockmaster about the problem. He arranged for a contractor to come look at my bottom which he believed needed to be cleaned. He was right. Problem solved.

Upon departure the staff was there to unhock the lines and provide a push off and away from the slip. All the staff gets a job well done and I an sure that I would not hesitate to stop there again.

The gentleman who wrote the review that follows this one is totally off base. Or maybe just on another planet.

Laundry facilities are less expensive then most.

Strange Place, 2014-04-15
Captain: , Key Largo (122)

Difficult marina, at best. No assistance tying up, or connecting power or water. No finger piers in slips makes getting on and off boat very difficult. Internet is pretty much unusable, as it is not secured and therefore available for use by anyone nearby.

noce stop between Miami and Ft Lauderdale, 2014-04-11
Captain: , Shelburne, VT (120)

We found this marina a good value and a convenient stop to wait out weather. Scott the dockmaster was very helpful to us. Pubix about 1.5 to 2 miles away with a nice downtown and many choices of food and drink. A nice walk over the bridge to the beach with happy hours everywhere and a long 2.5 ocean walk available. We will stop here again.

Super Place to Stop!, 2014-04-03
Captain: , Norfolk, VA, USA (185)

We stopped here on our way south for fuel and were impressed with the dockmaster, Scott's, positive attitude and helpfulness. He recommended a local waterfront restaraunt for lunch and he didn't steer us wrong. We ended up picking this marina to stay for a month while we sold our boat and bought another on the west coast.

The docks are well maintained concrete with rubber fenders and the facitlities are clean. Each dock is access controlled by key entry. There is a well maintained washer and dryer available for a reasonable charge ($1.50 wash/$1.25dry). The dockmaster and his crew are all very helpful.

The marina hosts periodic pizza/potlucks where the transient and liveaboard cruisers can all gather to share experiences and advice. There is short walk across the Hollywood Bridge to the beachfront restaurants and good people watching. The local neighborhood is also well maintained and worth a nice early morning or late afternoon stroll. Groceries are about a 1.3 mile walk west on Hollywood Blvd.

Prices are very competitive compared to those marinas south (Miami) and north (Ft. Lauderdale).

We'll be back next year!

Second Timer, 2014-03-24
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (418)

I first came here in 1998 on a friend's Benneteau sailboat and decided to come again. The docks are concrete and in good condition. The showers are well cared for and handicap accessible We were on the west part of D dock. The wifi signal is non existent. There is also a water drain that empties periodically.

Nice clean marina with Fuel , Ice , showers and pet friendly ., 2013-08-22
Captain: , Montgomery Alabama (1102)

We will be here a week before we finish our business . The Marina is clean and the staff very helpful and friendly , from Scott the manager to Charles the night security guard . Pubix is about a mile away and Wal-Mart about 2 miles . We have enjoyed our stay in the marina . The price is a little over a $1.00 a foot , so you can't beat the price .

Refreshing, 2013-07-31
Captain: , Islamorada, FL (147)

I suppose I'm just a sucker for municiple marinas. This is a clean place, with showers, bathrooms, fuel, ice, and more. I highly recommend it. The walk to dinner was long, so we took a cab home for $7. I slept well, and that's why I stayed here. Oh, and the price was $1/foot including everything!

Nice Marina, 2013-06-19
Captain: , Deerfield Beach, Florida (150)

We went for a quick get-away this past weekend. The marina personnel were very helpful and friendly. The concrete docks were in good condition with good power pedestals although it can be a reach to get off the boat at low tide. The restrooms are just outside the office with a separate room for the single shower. The marina is gated. The fashionable downtown area is easily accessible by taking a $1 trolley or alternatively you can walk accross the bridge to the beach boardwalk to people watch and get a bite to eat. The marina is exposed to a small reportedly shallow lake to the North but we had no problems with wakes. Good prices. Nice people.

Clean and reasonably priced, 2013-05-11
Captain: , Columbia, Missouri (415)

Nice clean secure marina on the ICW. Close walk or dinghy ride to some great restaurants. Staff friendly and courteous.

Easy stop for newbies, 2012-08-06
Captain: , Stuart Florida (280)

We stopped here on our way to the Keys and also on the return trip to Stuart, FL. The marina staff..Amanda on the trip south and Tom on the trip north could not have been more helpful. We didn't purchase fuel on the return trip but they let us take on about 150 gals of water, pump out, trash, and walk our dog. Only $5 for the pump out. Easy in and out and would reccomend them even though fuel prices were a little high.

Nice convenient marina but..., 2012-04-11
Captain: , St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (404)

This marina is nice, convenient to everything, but their pump out is often broken, but when it's working they charge you $5 to use it and won't let you do a fresh water rinse, claiming it, "wastes Floridas fresh water"... oh brother.... And even though they are a municipal marina and are supposed to sell their fuel for the exact same price they buy it for, but their prices are often higher than other marinas so I know they're selling for more than they are paying. Also, if there is the slightest amount of rain, or if there is a thunder cloud far off in the great distance, they will NOT let you fuel claiming that it is a hazard.

Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

Right off the ICW, very easy access. The marina staff was very friendly and helpful The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the docks. There are no finger piers in the transient slips. so boarding must be done from the bow or stern, and without a ramp this is very difficult. When Mike, the Harbormaster saw what a hard time we had getting off the boat, he moved us to a regular slip on an end dock. Security is great with locked gates and a security guard after hours. The area around the marina was pretty nice, so I don't know why they had all the extra security. It is a short bike ride (or walk) over the bridge to the beach, 2 mile boardwalk, and many restaurants. The Publix is about 10 blocks west on rte. 1 which is downtown Hollywood. I plan to stop here next year and spend a week, only next time I will bring a gangplank. The rest rooms and laundry were very clean andup to date.

Great location, quite and layback, close to the beach and more, 2011-06-19
Captain: , Dallas Tx (539)

Update: the marina has implemented new security measures, the entire marina, including the marina office, are located behind locked gates 24 hours a day.
Contacting the marina office is very difficult, channel 16 doesn't work because their VHF doesn't work, the marina phone works if the dockmaster is in the office and not on the fuel dock etc, or you can press the call button at the gate which also rings a bell in the office.
As a city run marina the dockmaster has little or no input on marina changes, that combined with the fact that all city employes just took a 8% pay cut in June 2011 have lowered morale in the marina staff.

Great location:
Located on a lake just off the ICW, we found this marina quite, peaceful and friendly. We biked across the ICW to the beach, which has a great 2-mile long concrete boardwalk with a 16' wide walking path and a separate 8' wide path for bikes, skaters, joggers, etc. The beach is clean, well maintained, and one of our favorites. The beach area is a throwback to Florida 40 years ago; small shops, restaurants, and 1 to 3 story hotels line the boardwalk.
A bike, the city trolley, or the bus can get you to a Publix one mile west. A bike or the bus can get you to a complex of four shopping areas containing a Publix, Wal-Mart, and the Hallandale West Marine, which are two miles south.
This marina is ideal as a base of operations for exploring the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas. The Hallandale Enterprise Rent-A-Car will pick you up at the marina and cars run about $39 per day.
Don't miss Giorgio's Bakery and Bistro across the ICW. It is worth the walk or dingy ride.

Nice, friendly place, 2011-03-17
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (1342)

Clean, quiet marina in good repair. Showers and heads are fine, not new but fine. Staff is among the friendliest and most helpful I have experienced. Very supportive with local knowledge on a fly-in, sail-out delivery.

Fixed concrete docks can be a little offputting with 2-1/2 foot tides. Tie up carefully and fender well.

Music and noise from the bars across the ICW can be distracting until midnight or even later, especially on weeknights.

In addition to nearby Publix there is a Penn Dutch highly regarded for good quality meats and veg and very good prices. Both Penn Dutch and Publix will require some kind of transportation for most people.

No capacity for hazmat handling (used oil, coolant, etc) but Autozone (west on Hollywood Blvd, north on Route 1 - very long bike ride, better with car or taxi) takes it.

Fair for a city marina, 2011-03-13
Captain: , Hawesville,Ky (371)

Shower and restroom facilities smelled a bit, but there was hot water and plenty of it, a welcome reprive from a week on the hook (our boat no longer has a hot water heater) They tell you it's in a bad neighborhood, but the publics a mile up hollywood Blvd. is secure. Just don't leave your bags unatended, and don't walk alone at night. In my book, any neighborhood where the police will still be present isn't a bad one. Overall, a fair marina. No wifi at the marina, but the city of Hollywood beach provides it. If he's on duty, ask for edward, and tip him well, he's a nice guy, and he's glad to help you get docked if you need it. Fuel and pumpout on the face dock, some shoaling on the outside, so stay close to the slips on your way in.
