Reviews for City of Des Moines Marina
great place for a weekend visit, 2015-06-18
Captain: , North Lake Marina, Lake Washington (260)

we had our YC spend the weekend and had a great time! the covered tent for YCs offers heat, fans, roll up and enclosure for the group event. The marina is very clean and the staff are AMAZING! the only reason I don't give 5 stars is because if you stay on the North side of the transient docks, you don't get water access on your side of the dock (so no city-water hookups like we like to do). Otherwise, there is one shower per gender up top and they are sufficient. Overall, definitely worth a visit as the staff goes out of their way to accomodate and we had a GREAT time!

Customer service folks, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Seattle (46)

Des Moines has the lowest fuel prices in lower Puget Sound. Fuel up on Mondays through Wedensdays for an even better price.
Marina is clean, modern and service friendly.
It's the closest and best place to drop off crew headed for SeaTac airport. Only negative is aircraft noise on final approach.

Pleasant stay, 2014-09-20
Captain: , Portland (279)

Public Marina here does not take reservations for boats less than 30 feet, but the guys on the fuel pier will do everything they can to find or make a spot. They also collect the fees for berthing. The piers are wide, clean, very nice. The Saturday Farmers%u2019 Market is very large with excellent produce, good prepared food booths, and usually a good local band. The vendors and patrons use the marina rest rooms, so shower early! There is no laundry.

Des Moines City Marina, 2014-08-10
Captain: , Swantown Marina, Olympia, Wa (180)

New boardwalk. Docks public so security is up to you. Professionally operated. Clean restrooms and walk ways. Farmers market on SAturdays. Grocery store a good 30 minute walk away. Enjoyed the two day stay and will go back.

Great Staff, 2012-11-05
Captain: , Shelton (35)

Excellent Marina for club cruises, Marina staff are very helpful.
Competitive fuel prices
Jet noise is a problem, otherwise I would give it 5 stars

Des Moines Marina, 2012-07-14
Captain: , Seattle (365)

Great stay with excellent facilities. There was a free jazz concert at the nearby park. Shopping is a bit of a walk (about a mile to the big grocery store), but a small minimart is at the top of the hill about 1/3 of a mile away. Wouldn't live here because is in the flight path of SeaTac Airport. AT&T cell and Verizon data service.

Service, facilities, and nearby resources are great, 2012-01-16
Captain: , Tacoma WA (10)

Just had a long weekend that included two seperate overnight stays at this marina. The service was friendly and accommadating, and some decent to great food was just up the hill adjacent to the marina guest dock. We look forward to seeing Charlie and Scott again soon at this facility.

Good stopping point when going south in the Sound, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Chinook Landing Marina, Tacoma (315)

Nice little marina. A little tricky getting in, particularily after dark (line up your navigation marks from rather far out to make sure you are set up on the entrance). Several good places to eat a short walk from the marina.

Best Marina in South Sound, 2011-10-03
Captain: , Gig Harbor (134)

Friendliest staff, best fuel prices in the South Sound. Facilities are being renovated, but they will take care of you.

Update 10/01/11

The staff is still the friendliest, and the renovations are basically complete. New ramps to the shore and complete renovatrion of the sea wall and the parking areas.

If you are looking for a place to hold a cruise in, this is it! They will astound you with their service. If you need an indoor venue, they will set you up with the lodge in the minicipal park next door to the marinas

I really can't say enough about the service we received this past weekend.

As for John's issues, in 2007, I find the resrictions perfectly reasonable.

City of Des Moines Marina, 2007-01-30
Captain: , Tacoma (193)

Clean and very well-run marina. They are, however, also very restrictive as to what you can do on your boat. They don't tolerate "projects" for very long, nothing can be left on the dock, and you can't go in the water without first posting your dive card at the office.

There is an Anthony's Home Port restaurant at the south end of the property that has a very good Sunday brunch. There is, however no moorage associated with the restaurant. If coming by boat use the marina's transient moorage, if you can find an opening, at the north end of the property.
