Reviews for City of Cape Coral Yacht Basin
Well run, safe marina, 2017-03-30
Captain: , Fort Myers, Florida (687)

Spent the winter here, November through March. Well run municipal marina that is part of Cape Coral's parks and recreation. Recently redecked fixed docks inside an anchor fence perimeter with key card access gates. U.S Customs and Boarder patrol boat and office are located in the marina along with Cape Coral sheriff's department boats. Easy to feel safe here! Clean shower facilites, Use of the municipal pool, and plenty of parking. Marina is protected in most directions from wind. Being up a dead end canal, there is no current and almost no wave action. Salinity content varies with water released from lake Okeechobee. Very low salinity this year, so almost no bottom fouling. I'll be back in the fall.

Nice little place as a transient, 2017-02-07

STopped in for one night during a boat delivery and had no issues. Water was deep, docks were clean and security was great.

poorly run, 2016-12-12
Captain: , Gulfport Fl usa (342)

the marina depaerrtment od Cape Coral has made some changes but they still have a guy sleeping on his boat calling it security! and the employee's rum the place there is no management or oversite buy city workers that are spending sall their time planning thier retirement

Good Place to Stay, 2016-06-13
Captain: , Cape Coral (70)

We stayed here a month while we looking for a liveaboard marina. Prices are good, Wifi can be spotty at times but works well when it does.
Docks are in great shape.
Pump out is done at a central dock.
Things they could do better is to offer help when docking back in your slip. We have traveled to many marinas where they go out of their way for you but here seems to be more laid back from a management stand point. Not a lot of marina traffic which given it is one of the last stops before heading North or South on the West coast ICW, again maybe it is a management item.

Great place to spend the winter, 2016-03-07
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (531)

This is a great marina. We have just spent two months here. The entrance channel is straight forward and once inside you will have excellant protection. Tie up is to fixed wooden docks that have recently been resurfaced. Each slip is supplied with water and both 30 and 50 amp service. Wireless internet and Verizon signals are great.

Dockage fees are very reasonable and include use of the heated city swimming pool. There is a good restaurant within walking distance. Many other restaurants as well as grocery shopping and a West Marine require a bicycle or a car. The Cape Coral area has a number of bike trails but there is a ton of traffic on the major roads.

Both gas and fuel are available at the gas dock, located on the port side just as you get to the breakwater. Prices are reasonable, but you can do better over in Ft. Meyers. Access to the Gulf and the islands is great. There is a long, narrow slow speed stretch on the way to the Gulf that is enforced with a vengance, so pay attention. Boat traffic, on weekends, can be wall to wall. In a word, operator skill level varies, expect anything.

The city of Cape Coral has just about anything that you need, a million restaurants and, including Ft. Meyers, no less than four West Marines. None are within walking distance of the marina. You will need a car or a bicycle to get around. If you ride a bicycle, note that the traffic can be very heavy, stay in the marked bike lanes or on the sidewalk. You really have to pay attention, we have had a number of close calls with cars. The good news is that Cape Coral, like all of Florida, is flat. You can ride anywhere with little effort. For bike or car trips you need a map. The city is cut up by a lot of canals and they have very few bridges. If is not hard to find yourself in the position of traveling a number of miles to get over one block.

The bathrooms at the marina are old and nothing special. They do have plenty of hot water and the city does a great job of keeping them clean. There is a laundry, $1.00 per load, another $1.00 for the dryer The entire marina is fenced with entry via a keypad lock. Security is excellant. We have left our bikes against the inside of the fence and never had a problem. Trash and gaebage cans are located outside the fence. Most people just throw the bags over the fence into the containers. The marina has a number of liveaboards, especially in the winter. Most have pets. If you have a pet, be sure to pick up any deposits. All of the residents are friendly and often have an informal get together at the gazebo in the evening.

As a visitor you will most likely be tied up against the rear wall. This is a fine spot, the down side is that directly behind you are the city tennis courts. They open around six in the morning and go until nine at night. Things can get very noisy, they have some class that requires a boom box at max volume. They also tend to hit the balls over the fence where they land either in the water or on your boat. It is not the best situation but you get used to it.

If you are looking for a small, well protected marina that is a bit off the beaten track, this is the place. If you prefer more services within walking distance, you may be better off across the river in Ft. Meyers.

Came for a few days stayed a month, 2016-03-05
Captain: , Portland,Oregon (330)

What a great marina! I enjoyed the close beach, beach bar, pool, and not a bad walk or bike into town. The marina is very friendly along with the people in Cape Coral. Friendly and very safe. I can wait to return.

Great marina, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Coconut Grove, USA (121)

We stayed overnight on our way east to the waterway. Lots of big sailboats, clean restrooms, and great food at the restaurant near by. The dock was tight but very well protected.

Great service and awesome location! Jim was very helpful!, 2014-07-17
Captain: , Toronto (80)

we purchased our boat in Cape Coral and needed to leave it for
three months as we had to return to Canada for family reasons. Easy access and secure location. Jim was excellent! He was always extremely helpful and resourceful! he made the stay and our absence easy! reasonably priced ! great BBQ area and washrooms were acceptable. laundry facility and wifi were also ok.
you need a car for shopping as the local west marine and Winn Dixie are not in walking distance! we rented a car from Hotwire .. airport pickup and drop off (advantage car rental) for $12.00 a day all in!! lots and lots of shopping in area Costco - etc etc etc. Would definitely stay if ever in area again!

Very helpful people, 2014-07-09
Captain: , Corpus Christi (301)

The staff went out of their way to help me. I will use them again.

Cape Coral Yacht Club - City owned facility, 2014-04-23
Captain: , Portsmouth, NH (66)

Stayed here about 5wks Apr-May 2012. Helpful staff, bathrooms/showers are a bit aged, docks in good shape, fairly deep water and easy entrance from Caloosahatchee River-no problem with 5' draft 40' sailboat. Pumpout a side-tie North end of marina. Trash bins just off docks, washer dryer next to bathrooms, shelves with book exchange. Most usage on weekends, very quiet weekdays. Fuel side-tie on stbd as leaving (next to Ford's restaurant) gas & diesel NO Valvtec. Large outdoor pool, shuffleboard, covered outdoor picnic facilities, sandy beach on river, new 2014 restaurant Ford's Garage with tiki-style outdoor seating. West Marine, old down-town, restaurants and shops, are a bit of a hike, easy bike ride away.

Great Marina, Good location, Nice Beach and Fishing Pier, 2013-11-21
Captain: , Brick,NJ (136)

Visited this marina this week. The location is great as there are no bridges for those of us with masts. The sandy beach is located across the street from the marina and there is a long and well lighted fishing pier at that location. The sunsets are best seen from the pier and small groups of people come out to watch nightly. This is a good safe location with swimming and fishing at the site possible.

Looks Good, 2013-09-07
Captain: , Oviedo (306)

Did a drive by there today (looking for a place to leave our boat for a month or so)
Very well kept. Good security, and the rates are not bad.

Cape Coral Yacht Basin, 2012-12-04
Captain: , Peoria, IL (10)

Assistant harbormaster lives at marina and walks docks daily. People on duty walk docks also. The marina is secure and local police, conservation and customs have boats docked at marina. Marina is safe. The shower facilities and bathrooms are cleaned daily but are showing age. Internet works about 80% of the time. Docks are excellent.

Cape Coral Yacht Basin, 2012-06-09
Captain: , little river (269)

We found the marina to be well maintained with friendly helpful staff. The two bathrooms were clean and well kept. Loaner bikers were in poor shape only one was serviceable. Long walk to West Marine 2 - 3 miles. The approach can be confusing as to the multiple private day markers. Turn to port at marker 78, leaving the pier to port. Straight in past K C's River Shop fuel on your port side.

Nice place!, 2012-04-05
Captain: , Murfreesboro, TN (360)

We found the cape Coral Yacht Basin to be a good stop to reprovision before crossing to Stuart. The folks were helpful and the atmosphere was festive, but the docks were nice and quiet at bedtime.

Cape Coral Yacht Basin Marina, 2011-06-17
Captain: , Cape Coral,FL (10)

This is a very good Marina that has all the things Cruisers are looking for. Included is a large swimming pool, beach, long board walk Pier over the river at the site. Very good restaurants a mile or less walk to Down town.
The restuarant next to the Pier has good sea food thats fried, very good for a pier type waterfront restaurant and has only outside covered tables with great views.

Great Location, 2011-02-17
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach (276)

This is an excellent location for either travelling up the Calossahatchee to the first lock or travelling on the ICW. Accomodates up to 55' boat sizes. Clean amenities, pump out station...pretty much everything you need for very affordable rates.

Nice Place and friendly people, 2011-02-04
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (495)

We have been here for about 2 months and find the people here very cooperative and friendly. This is run by the city of Cape Coral for its residents but they do rent to transients. Convienient to stores, West Marine and restaurants.

Great Marina, 2011-01-26

We love Cape Coral and this marina gives you great protection. It is close to the beach and about a mile and a half from any shopping you might need to do. We were going to stay a month and loved it so much we stayed for two.
