Reviews for Chesapeake Yachts
Awesome storage yard!!!, 2017-06-11
Captain: , Portsmouth (41)

We just left after 3 months of haul out for annual maintenance. Kimberly the owner is super friendly and billing was a breeze. Prices are unbeatable in the area. In fact, nowhere else comes close to the bargain you get here. Water and power was included and available at each spot. They have a reasonable fee for DIY underwater work. The haul out, wash, block and launch were handled professionally and in a timely fashion. The yard is super level gravel and borrowing the ladder to get on was no problem.

Locally, the place is out of the way through some neighborhoods. There's an AutoZone, grocery and other shopping nearby. Access to the yard was 24/7.

Great diy place!

Great boat yard for the do it yourself boat fixes., 2014-09-21

Liscensed maintenance available. Water and electric available at each storage spot. Great monthly storage rates. Only portable toilet in boat yard. Boat yard owner kind of anti-social. Kymberly in office very friendly and helpfull. Only Monthly and daily rates available.

GREAT DIY yard, 2014-07-25
Captain: , Chesapeake, VA (253)

Chesapeake Yachts is out in the middle of nowhere. That said, if you can get transportation (read: automobile) it's a GREAT DIY yard. The office staff is friendly and helpful. You can do just about anything you want to your boat there, with plenty of room in which do to it. Staff at the yard have connections with fantastic local riggers, diesel and gas mechanics, etc. Good rates, freedom to work, room to work, resources a-plenty. Great DIY yard, period. I only gave them 3 stars, though, as any service you get has to come to you, they don't have any there.

great storage location, 2011-11-29
Captain: , Hampton, VA (2573)

I visited this yard while looking for a location to refit our catamaran. While our catamaran was too large for the hydraulic trailers, I observed that the yard hauling equipment was in excellent condition.

Most of the vessels here are in storage or undergoing DIY efforts. Buildings house a few paint and fiberglass contractors. I was under the impression that the yard did not have mechanics, or electricians etc.

Yard owner very friendly and a bit laid-back. Apparently primary interest is in buying and selling government surplus items.

Yard has a serious and very busy boat ramp used by the public. This might be a security concern. Yet talking with boat owners in the yard, no one thought it was an issue.

Access by road to the yard is a bit complicated and winds through a home development seemingly forever. You'll definitely want a car if you are staying here for a while. Biking and hiking aren't options.
