Reviews for Chatham Municipal Docks
Past it's prime in their own words, 2011-09-08

Fine enough docks and town, but nearly forgotten about nowadays.

I visited for my 1st time on 8/30 - 9/2, so a few days after they had sent the entire dock crew home. Upside is dockage was free of cost. We were the only boat on the half mile of docks, except for one guy from up the river who came for 3 hours at dinner.

6+ spots have stumps protruding in the middle of the inter-bridge section. Many utility posts in the blue section don't have water and a few don't have power. The entire red section West of the 3rd St bridge are NO utility at all.

Bathrooms pretty far away, but was private by key and basically clean if not new or pretty.

Very nice people in town, had many long conversations and fun experiences. I would not that the teens are running wild, everywhere and not all so nice, clean or scrupulous due to boredom it appears.

I moved from the Orange section behind the Satellite restaurant, down to the Blue section on suggestion that the kids run from the underage bar on 4th street and keep up a lot of noise and mischief from 4th down to and in Tacumseh park at night. They also said the lights in teh orange section are really bright and they were.

3rd Street bridge grating is loud as cars go over, so listen before committing to a spot to sleep.

Very high sea wall had me stepping up 2ft above the gunnels of my 30 footer. Bring long line as cleats are like 45ft apart.

Nice ride up the river, but be very vigilent to watch for 6in log top poking up, as they are attached to prop killing trees beneath. I will try to post all the submurged trees I waypointed, or at least the one I my drive did bang on, which was completely submerged near the middle of the river.

Would I go back, sure but not in a rush or anythng. I'm an adventurer, so I just enjoy a new place just because and while I walked most of the town, I'm sure there's more to see. Nothing earthshattering, just something I haven't seen yet. Good food in a few places is a plus.

Chathem Docks, 2009-07-22

The Chathem docks were once again a great place to spend a day and a night. Downtown is a short walk and provides plenty of choices for entertainment and refreshment.

The dock staff was very friendly and willing to help out in whatever way they could.
