Reviews for Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club
The eye on the harbor, 2014-03-21
Captain: , San Francisco CA (1301)

We joined CHYC in September 2013 and brought our boat down from St. Petersburg for the sailing season in late October. The marina is small, and our depth and maneuverability meant we have a side-tie berth on the central dock and during low tide, especially in the winter, our keel is usually in the mud. But at MLW we can get in and out with an inch or two to spare.
The club itself has a magnificent view of Charlotte Harbor, a great bar and good dining room. Food service is above average, and Friday pub night is always great fun. CHYC's "dragon boaters" are very active, there's a great youth sailing program, and an active fishing club.
Receiprocal privileges are extended to members in good standing of a yacht club which is a member the FCYC or of a club listed in the Register of American Yacht Clubs.

A Biased Review, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Punta Gorda. FL (360)

Available for FCYC reciprocals. Truth be told, this is my home yacht club. CHYC is located on the north side of upper Charlotte Harbor. The facility was rebuilt and enlarged after Hurricane Charlie and offers a beautiful dining room with fine dining, a very nautical bar with panoramic view over Punta Gorda and down the harbor. The marina can handle half a dozen large transients on the two sides of the long central pier. It is open to the south and a moderate surge can occur. The entrance channel is 5' at MLW and can be down around 4' in winter when north winds blow the water down the harbor. Good bath/head facilities are located in the dockmaster's building next to the marina and the tennis courts. Fuel and pump out is available. Publix and West Marine are about a mile and a half away. I think we might earn 5 stars if we had a pool and an arrangement for visitor transportation to nearby shops and restaurants.
