Reviews for Champlain Boatworks at Snug Harbour Marina
Valcour Island, 2015-04-08
Captain: , Chicago (10)

A large inventory of new and used boats for sale. A highly rated service department with two of the most experience technicians on the Lake. Right across from Valcour Island, and one of the very few places on the Lake that has a large selection of NEW boats for rent. Also, has a very well stocked ship store. I enjoy stopping here every year. Friendly staff.

Fuel and pump out. That's about it, although there is a nice dive shop at the south end of the marina.

A sad marina, 2013-06-23
Captain: , Lake Champlain (226)

Docks are a mess, many in disrepair. Sewage smells from malfunctioing pumpout. The place has an air of financial collapse about it.

What a Joke!, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Lake Champlain (36)

This place could barely pass for a marina. We stopped waited for assistance for fuel and transient docking for over an hour! The wait was on unfit docks ready to break apart protected by a nonexistent breakwater! Two reasons to stop here would be to maybe get fuel if you were almost out and go to the restaurant which was amazing!

(Anything but) Snug Harbour, 2009-09-25
Captain: , Upstate NY (10)

This marina has little protection from wind or boat wakes with a poorly maintained breakwall made of strapped together tires. The docks are in severe disrepair. Every year the tires break free in some portions. By mid-season these tires are partially submerged. A real mess made obvious by the many open slips. The majority of the remaining marina members are sailboats on moorings outside the tire breakwall. The marina has changed hands many times recently. The one thing this marina has going for it is the location adjacent to Valcour Island (a popular spot on the lake).

Nice people, 2007-07-10
Captain: , East Greenbush, NY (705)

The good- the management was nice and helpful, the bathrooms were clean and there is a resturant and bar onsite. They helped us into and out of our slip, Valcour is a quick dinghy ride away. The bad - finger docks were a bit tippy, if you have a decent draft - 5'10" in our case - you have to get a slip towards the outer part of the facility, but when you back out of the slip you have to watch for shallow water. There's nothing on land near here so it's a $10 taxi ride to Plattsburgh.
