Great Stay - Deep Draft As Long as in Channel, 2016-07-05
Captain: , Boston, MA (50)

We stayed here last week and approached at dead low tide. I have a 43' Beneteau Sense which draws approximately 6'7". We entered the channel at 3:20pm and low tide was 3:45pm as the dock staff said there was 8' of depth. There was more than enough depth for us to get in, but you could tell that there is a sand bar right off to the east side of the channel so if you left the channel it shoals up very fast. The channel is marked clearly so just stay inside it and you will be fine.

The facilities were great. They have a shuttle bus which takes you into the outlets malls. There is not a lot of shopping in town, but it was still a nice place for a stroll. The long dock was easy to pull up to. We had been anchoring so it was nice to have a stopover to provision and just be dockside. We will return.

Pleasant stop at mid sound, 2016-06-28
Captain: , Thornwood,NY (40)

We made this our first stop on delivering our J32 from Wickford RI on June 25, 2016. We originally planned planned to stop at Stonington but we extended and reached Clinton in 11 hours. We arrived before dark and about 1hour before low tide. We were told that a 6' draft was not a problem. We saw less than 1 foot below the keel in places at mid channel but did not touch. After a nice overnight stop we attempted to leave 2 hours before low tide and ran aground in mid channel at the last set of buoys. Thanks to Fish Pig, a big fishermen, we were pulled off the bar and returned to the dock and later successfully negotiated the channel 2 hours into the flood. The marina is sprawling but you can find everything you might need and they are friendly and helpful. Clean pool, showers and rest rooms. Bring walking shoes. Don't use the channel 2 hours before or after low tide if you draw 6'.

Great spot, 2015-11-11
Captain: , Portsmouth, RI (70)

Well protected, easy channel to navigate despite what some charts imply. A well stocked marine store on site, a decent restaraut/bar and a extremely helpful staff. Had a great talk with Ted regarding my electrical system, and even though I easily took more than an hour of his time on Saturday (and he ran a number of tests for me) he didn't want to charge me because he 'didn't fix anything' - I also got shuttled into town for supplies. Everyone I dealt with went out of there way to be helpful.

Great Storm Shelter, 2015-10-06
Captain: , North Truro, MA (78)

We pulled in here to dodge the convergence of a big northeast storm and possible Huricane Joaquin in early October 2015 on our way south and ended up staying for a week. The marina is perfectly protected by the barrier island that separates it from Long Island Sound and though the winds occaisionally blew over 40 you wouldn't know it at our slip.

Michelle who runs the office was unfailingly helpful and always cheerful. Although their courtesy shuttle had ended for the season, she assured us that they could provide transportation to the store if we needed it. The showers were hot and clean and the laundry machines were all working. Wi-Fi was excellant. The marina also has a huge ship's store that had everything we needed. The other marina personel we had occasion to speak with were all friendly, helpful and professional.

In addition, there is a nice restaurant, Rocky's Aqua, right on the premises and the main street of the town is a short walk away. We felt extremely fortunate to layover here for a week!

Great Marina, 2015-08-11
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (243)

Awesome place for a weekend. Pool with snack bar and a great resturant. Fuel prices are great too! Well stocked marine store and a full service department as well. The outter harbor is a little skinny - we touched bottom on the way in at mid tide - we draw 5.0'. On the way out we found that the western side of the channal had better water depths. You can take your dink all the way up the Indian River to a very nice town dinghy dock behind town hall. CVS is a 2 minute walk from the dink dock.

Great and Friendly marina, 2015-07-02
Captain: , NYC - Liberty Landing (182)

We stopped by for fuel on a run East through the sound, but next time, we will be sure to stop over and stay the night.

Some bar/grills right on the property and they offered a free van service into town for anyone staying there.

Diesel was $3.39/gal and plenty of space on the fuel dock.

Be ware of the channel...it is tight and we touched ground at 5.5' right in the center of the channel (supposed to be 8' at MLW). Luckily, was a soft bottom.

Serving all sizes . . ., 2015-01-13
Captain: , Coles Point, VA (778)

Big guys and little guys are all welcome, but the amenities are slightly worn around the edges. This marina has seen a lot of use, but there are still solid facilities here. Gas, Diesel and pump-outs accompany nice wet slips. Showers have taken a bit of a beating as have the restrooms and rec facilities, but are still serviceable. Not as much privacy for showers as in other locations. OUTSTANDING servcie department and personnel. VERY fair and honest. Seasonal residents seem very nice/friendly too.

Great Stop, 2014-09-04
Captain: , mamaroneck (140)

A most pleasant surprise, although it should not have been based on the reviews of others. Before you even get to the marina, you are presented with a well marked channel affording welcoming views. The marina is large and full service. You first come to the service dock providing fuel and pump out services. Call on the channel and they will advise your designated slip. I was a little surprised to hear the dockhand say that she will ride her bike to meet us at the slip to help us in...but that she did. The pool was heated and of a size that you can enjoy swimming your laps. There are 3 food providers, from full service restaurant, Aqua, to a lobster stand to a grill that served breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. The walk to town center is about one mile, but an easy walk. There are historic homes and a museum (with a permanent and rotating collection) that are worth the visit. On site you have, volley ball, shuffleboard, brokerage services, a work out facility, and a custom canvass shop. The people are friendly, the service great. Great for family. The docks could use a little up grading, but it didn't detract from the ambiance. Certainly worth a visit.

Fantastic Stay, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Bridgeport, CT (62)

We came upon this place by accident, we had just pulled the anchor from staying at Duck and were planning on heading to Branford. We started to have some engine problems so we pulled in. We fueled up on the way to our slip and the attendant gave me a free t-shirt to celebrate their 40th anniversary, which was surprising. Within an hour of pulling in one of the mecahnics, Teddy, had already fixed my problem. One of the nicest mechanics I have ever met. We ended up staying a couple nights because we loved the place so much. The bathrooms were a little small, but they kept them clean. We were SO IMPRESSED with the staff though. Facilities were top notch as well considering its not in a really touristy area. This is a great off the beaten path spot.

Nice stop between RI and NYC area, 2014-09-01
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (370)

Stopped here last week between Jamestown and Manhasset. The entrance is a bit nerve-wracking, but the depths were fine in the channel (never saw less than 9ft - I draw 6.5). Marina is well maintained, the Aqua restaurant on-site was good, people are nice & friendly. Only downside is the showers...a bit small and summer-camp like. And of course, it's pricey - but that goes with the area.

Great marina and staff, 2014-07-01
Captain: , New Bern, NC (50)

We stayed at the Cedar Island Marina because we were visiting a friend that lived near by. They could not do enough for us, 10% off fuel and a cheaper "no frills" dock that still included electricity and water. That night our cat jumped ship and we could not find her the next day. They put up a missing "calico cat" sign and alerted other marinas in the area. This care and concern along with a pool, showers, laundry and work out room was impressive. Kris and his staff couldn't do enough for us. I highly recommend Cedar Island Marina.

Top Notch Marina, 2014-06-24
Captain: , Cedar Island Marina (63)

This marina has it all. Service, Pool, Rockey's Aqua Restaurant, bait shop and the best staff around

Cedar Island Marina, 2014-06-19
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (40)

Great place. Convenient fuel doock at the entrance to the facility which is also equipped with a pumpout. The staff was very helpful with docking and also shuttling us to the shopping outlets near by (about a mile or two down the road). Pool is large and also offered daily activities for the kids. Overall great experience, would definitely stay again.

Osman Kurtulus from Nyack Boat Club, 2013-08-27
Captain: , Nyack New York (10)

Had a problem with my cutlass bearing. Pulled in. Nicest mariners on the sound. Made me feel great, positive attitude ,very reasonably priced. They fixed my cutlass bearing send me on my way. Wife and kids thought the town does not have much to offer but facilities/restaurant/pool are great.

Easy access and courteous staff, 2013-07-30
Captain: , Byram, CT (698)

This is a full service marina and there is a nice restaurant adjacent to the parking lot. The rest rooms are clean enough. There is a long outside-facing dock at this facility and it's well protected so it's also very multihull-friendly. They charge the same rate per foot for multihulls as for other boats.

Very beautiful marina/harbor, 2013-06-14
Captain: , Mattituck, NY (74)

This place is gorgeous! I did not know about the area, but the marina is very nice. We stayed on a brand new dock. I did not get a chance to meet too many staff, but the Dockmaster was very nice. He said that the channel was just dredged this year because I told him I had heard complaints that it was shallow. A little bit of a walk to town, but the restaurant there is nice.

A Perfect Stopover, 2013-02-19
Captain: , Milford, CT (50)

We were incredibly impressed by this marina as it totally caught us by surprise. The channel was a little bit narrow, but there was plenty of depth (we draw 5 1/2 ft). We came on a Saturday afternoon when a yacht club was arriving, so it was a little busy, but the staff handled it perfectly. The facilities were very well kept. I had a small problem with one of my engines and luckily one of the mecahnics just happened to be hanging around on a customer's boat. The Dockmaster was nice enough to call him and ask if he could take a look and even though he had the day off he did not charge me any extra and fixed the problem! Top notch place.

A great family marina, 2012-08-05
Captain: , Alexandria (138)

Live music at the pool on Saturdays, a friendly staff and great restaraunt. Gladys drives the shuttle into town for those in the marina without transportation. Aqua (by Rocky) is a great restaraunt and the bartenders were fantastic.

Great Staff !, 2012-07-15
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

Stayed here for the 1st time 2012- 07-09 and fueled before docking for the night. The dockhands were professinal and pleasant which was greatly appreciated. The docks were in good condition and the marina as a whole appeared to be well maintained. The location is well protected from wakes from the Sound but East and West winds have a pretty good fetch. The food from the on-site restaurant was good but not outstanding.
The marina was very quiet at night and we experienced no wakes - we will definately stay here again.

Great service, 2012-07-15
Captain: , Palmetto, FL (504)

Stay close to the green markers as you round the east end of the island! Shoaling occurs right on the other side of the red nuns!
This is a very well protected marina with a top notch staff. There is a free shuttle service if you need to run into town, free grills right off the docks, and the pool, bathrooms and showers are very clean.

Very, very nice folks and a good facility, 2012-07-14
Captain: , Sea Cliff, NY (1022)

This is our home base this summer, and we are very impressed with the employees. It is a testament to the owners that every single member of the staff that we have met is great.

The location on the Sound is terrific, and the entrance into Clinton Harbor is straightforward. However, don't get too close to the reds at low tide, as there is significant shoaling in some areas. We come and go sometimes at low tide and have never had a problem.

Decent facility, 2011-07-24
Captain: , New York, NY (470)

Fuel dock was large and dock hand very helpful. Transient sailboats go on the outside of the face dock, but since the harbor is so protected this isn't a problem. Wooden floating docks are in ok shape. BBQ grills next to the docks, restaurant on site was ok, but not open for breakfast. Pool is large and has an outdoor jacuzzi. The whole facilty has a slight KOA feel to it, but all the elements are there for an adequate stay.

A Pleasant Experience, 2011-07-08
Captain: , East Hampton, NY (70)

Clinton Harbor access can be a little tricky since the channel is very narrow. With a 5'-5" draft at low tide we skimmed the bottom along the edge of the marked channel so stay in the center.

Dockage for large transient boats along the outside dock was very accessible. We had a problem connecting to 50 amp service and the dock hands called an onsite technician that was there in 5 minutes to solve the problem - it was our cord.

Onsite restaurant (Aqua) was decent and kid friendly.

Docked at 5:30pm, closed but good relief from wicked seas, 2011-04-21
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Staff told me where to tie up but left at 5pm, very nice and friendly. NW gusts at 40 mph made docking difficult but w/IPS drives we could do it. Restaurant on premises had a very adtive bar...it was packed and good. Docks a bit old but in good condition. Out of season rate of 1.75/ft was attractive. Easy entry from bad weather.

Great place to duck into when Long Island Sound is bad, 2010-09-19
Captain: , Morehead City (160)

We ducked into CIM after pounding in the Sound for 3+ hours. It is a great marina with a huge face dock for transient boaters. It is well protected. The staff couldn't be more helpful. They have an outdoor heated pool and whirlpool. The restaurant on the premises is a reasonable 5 star (in my opinion) restaurant. What a find. The walk into the small town is an easy 1/2 mile but once there, the choices are limited (I visited CVS twice). If you are looking for a place to hang out in bad weather, this is it.

Cedar Island Marina, 2007-06-28
Captain: , Sag Harbor, NY (605)

Nice facility with wide range of services on site. Nothing much of interest within walking distance, however there is a suhttle available to town (?) and outlets.

Cedar Island Marina, 2007-04-21
Captain: , Connecticut (7)

Nice place. At last look fuel was competitively priced. New playground for kids, fenced. Owner has spent much time and money over the last couple years on docks and bulkheads. Aqua is a nice little restaurant on site, good food, good bar. Also has decent little snack bar next to the heated in ground pool. Some wild evening with bands almost every summer weekend. They also will shuttle you to the Clinton outlets etc...
