Reviews for Cat Cay Yacht Club
ok uncle, I give , 2016-09-12
Captain: , Ft Lauderdale (70)

They might as well put a no trespassing do not enter sign up. It's now 5$ per foot per night. Your not allowed outside of the marina. Although they have a great restaurant and outside bar, but 12$ for a rum punch. They don't want us here, move on, unless you are really stuck I would not go to the marina.

Non member able to get fuel, 2016-07-12
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (260)

Stopped in at Cat Cay before staying on the hook for the night in Honeymoon Harbour. Although we are not members, they did sell us 100 gallons of diesel (at a reasonable price) so we did not have to go into North Bimini before crossing back to the US. Dockhand was friendly and the facilities looked nice even though we did not get to use them.

Easy place to clear., 2016-05-06
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (519)

We cleared in here March 2, 2016 and it couldn't have been easier. I found both the Customs and Immigration personnel, as well as the Cat Cay staff, to be delightful, competent and professional. Easiest clearing in I have had in 30 years of boating to the Bahamas. Well worth the $100 fee.

Outstanding Marina and Service, 2015-12-25
Captain: , Miami Beach (12)

Arrived on 12/15 from Miami Beach and was met at the dock by very friendly and helpful staff. Checked in with the dockmaster and he was also very helpful in providing us with the necessary customs and immigration forms. Customs and immigration clearance was very easy. Enjoyed a great dinner at Nauticat restaurant, adjacent to the administration office. Definitely will return.

Nice marina with top-notch service, 2015-05-17
Captain: , United States (3192)

We did not stay overnight, but docked our tender here twice for dinner, lunch, drinks, and to shop at the market. It's worth noting that transient dockage here is limited to 24 hours at this private club.

There are two restaurants on property but only the more casual Nauticat is open to non-members. We found the food among the best we've had in the islands, the prices were reasonable all things considered, and the staff was the most attentive we've encountered, as befits a very expensive private club.

We ate dinner in the restaurant, and returned for lunch at the dockside bar where the same menu is served. We also bought a few items in the very clean, neat, and well-stocked market, but here you are paying a premium for the convenience. Prices were not marked on most items, so ask first. Oddly, they had a decent price on Kalik at just $46/case.

The docks are fixed but well maintained.

Private, little to do but easy custom clearance , 2015-05-10
Captain: , Miami, fl (3666)

decent facility but private club offering very little to transients. That said it is a great stop to clear customs before crossing the bank, much easier than Bimini and a shorter detour as well.

Well worth the $100 charge to stop. Friendly staff

Picture perfect but pricey!, 2015-01-16
Captain: , Rockland, ME (283)

We arrived from Key Biscayne after crossing overnight. While the scenery and marina were beautiful, there was no assistance at the docks with the lines. A security officer of the club welcomed us and gave us directions to the Customs and Immigration offices (located conveniently on either side of the Yacht Club offices) Once in the customs office, we were less than impressed with the female officer on duty and her lack of personality. We were also caught off guard by the $100 dock fee the club charged for the privilege of checking in there (regardless of boat size.) If we stayed for the night ($4 per foot) or bought a considerable amount of diesel, it would be credited back to you. They also have wi-fi available for a fee ($7.00 for 50 MB and $14.00 for 100 MB). We took advantage of the 100 MB plan and didn't use it all up even after uploading pics from the day before. I'm still giving it 4 stars though because the club itself was great, very professional and pristine and Cat Cay was a great first impression of the Bahamas.

Simply Great, 2015-01-11
Captain: , Palm Beach, FL (341)

Stopped by in mid-Dec on a day fishing trip to clear and top off the fuel tanks. Was there a few minutes after 9am.

Staff couldn't be friendlier. Helped us tie up at the gas dock and gave me a golf cart ride to customs office.

It was very efficient. Couldn't ask for more!

Paradise!!!, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Gainesville, Florida (195)

Yes, this is a private island. Yes, they restrict transients to the restaurant, bar, marina, gift shop, and grocery store. So, what? That's more than most Bahamian islands offer and everything here is absolutely beautiful. Never had any problems with the staff (although the customs gal can be...hard to find sometimes), the food is first class, the marina is in very good shape, and the grocery store is amazing. Pricey, but beats the hecck out of the dump that North Bimini has become.

great stopover, 2014-08-27
Captain: , ft myers beach, fl (20)

I don't understand all these reviews. as a transient I have stayed at cat cay many times over the last 10 years. they are always welcoming and provide excellant dockside service. customs is friendly and casual. the tiki bar is great and I like the main bar for a drink and catching up on news from us. the restaurant is very good with nice selection and well prepared. groceries are plentiful and fresh. c'mon guys, what's the problem? I travel throughout the Bahamas all winter and cat cay is one of the friendliest of all. Bernard and Radar are always welcoming. previously aboard tranquility base, then Yot 4 Play and now joe, tauna and the kids on board Spontaneous.

Great temporary stop, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1522)

Remembering that this is a private island and not just a public marina, it is a great place to stop while making a crossing, have lunch, stay if necessary and move on. People there are great with that understanding. No one should expect anything else. If you want more, move on to Bimini. I'll aways stop here if the situation is right.
Oh, and if you do stop here and haven't checked in, do so. I've seen Customs and Immigration send people back from Nassau for not checking in at the first place they stopped.

Great place for lunch, 2014-04-14
Captain: , Marathon (90)

We took the dingy into cat and had a great lunch and walked around the grounds whichhad tons of flowers. Very nice

Private island, not very welcoming, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (375)

A bad storm chased me in here one time, they allowed me and my wife to come in and we brought a few fish for them to cook up and we ate for free, except for our drinks. However, the word is usually that you are not really welcome here as it's a private island for very wealthy cat cay homeowners

Go somewhere else, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Stuart, Fl (360)

AS the other reviews mention, they really do not want you here. $3.25 foot and can not use the pool. Go to Bimini and check out Brown's marina with new docks and good power for $1.50

in Agreement With Previous Posts, 2013-01-09
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1011)

This is a private club and marina that tolerates transients if willing to pay a a premium. The dock master was helpful, and you can stretch your legs on the island.

Casual dining is available, and a grocery and gift shop are at hand, but eating aboard may be indicated.

There is an emergency room doctor anyways on island and an airstrip, which could be a bIg benefit. So lets not downgrade this place too much!

PASS IT UP, 2012-11-19
Captain: , Galena, MD (1856)

Simlar to previous posts would not use this facility again. Little help and poor direction to get in. Assigned us a "T" head with wind and waves directly hitting our aft quarter while the marina was 90% empty. If it were not so late would have continued to Bimini.
This is not a cruiser friendly marina.

You are not welcome, 2012-09-01
Captain: , South Florida (56)

Fixed docks in very poor condition, dirty sub-maintened bathrooms, poor attitude of most of the staf, this is an exclusive resort where you are not welcome and they make you feel it. Good location thought when coming back from Chub. Oh, food quality is average.

Don't expect help at the dock, 2012-06-14
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We pretty much agree with the other reviews in that it totally caters to the members, but it was a good one night stop over and the facilities were very nice.

overpriced, underservice, 2011-06-01
Captain: , Miami (101)

from the dockmaster who does not care about any nonmember and wont help you docking at all to the manager who will tell you they don't want you there it is not worthy.

Cat Cay Marina, 2010-09-25
Captain: , Coconut Grove, Miami FL (21)

An excellent hopping off point from FL to the rest of the Bahamas. Has fuel, water and a Customs station with little or no waiting. I think the most I waited was 15 minutes. Marina staff was very polite and helpful as well. Small store with few provisions. Restaurant is expensive and, as this is a private island, visitors are restricted to the marinal area - but for a great first or last stop in the Bahamas, this place can't be beat!

one of the worst, 2010-02-24
Captain: , Cocoa (20)

I will avoid this marina at all costs. Way Over priced, no staff to help tie up, but plenty of security people to keep you from crossing over the painted line to the "private" part of the island.
