Reviews for Castine Yacht Club
Cute spot in a secure harbor, 2014-08-12
Captain: , Longmeadow, MA (70)

Friendly staff and good location - close to town but not downtown. The moorings go for $30/night and the club charges extra for showers, but the showers are clean, hot and strong spray. Fun to hang out at the YC during the day and watch the kids sailing around the harbor.

Very friendly, 2014-08-09
Captain: , Cassiopea A (507)

The yacht club has a few guest moorings, marked "CYC" and "Guest." The fee this summer (2014) was $30, plus $5/person for showers and $3/bag for thrash. The moorings are out in the current, but that's not a real problem.

The BAH's Bakehouse became MarKel's bakehouse (BAH retired), but the food, service, and atmosphere as as great as ever. Unforturtunately, BAH's restaurant (I think it was called "Stella's") is no more.

Castine is just a delightful place to stop: very friendly, lots of interesting history, and spectacular vistas over Bagaduce river. Don't miss a walk to Dyce Head down Perkins street.

Clean, friendly spot., 2012-07-31
Captain: , Annapolis (451)

Stayed on mooring @ $25, a-la-carte for everything else. Lovely town for walking. BAH's bakeshop to die for. As is her restaurant
Stella's Jazz Nocturnal. A wonderful meal, with live Jazz. Can't be beat. Short walk to Post office, general store, for basics.

Lots of history here., 2011-07-12
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1290)

7/11/11 Not much at the club. Young staff, very friendly and helpful. Flash in the Pan steel drum concert was great...a real street dance ages from 3 to 93. Nice town to walk, beautiful homes, nicely kept. Interesting Wilson Museum, a potpourri of collectible artifacts over many years from many parts of the world. I would give the town a 4 star.

Good mooring, strong current, 2011-06-22
Captain: , Narragansett Bay, RI (416)

We arrived without a reservation and just before high season. The moorings closest to the channel had the most room, but were also exposed to the most current. Club wasn't opened, but the guy power washing the deck accepted a "donation" for use of the mooring ball. He said most leave $25. I can only assume it got in the right hands. Town was a short walk, but dinghy to the town dock if you can. Dennets was a good waterside joint, huge bar, nice views. Stella's should not be missed for dinner. Bah's bakehouse for breakfast is also a must.

Good When You Can Get It, 2011-02-12
Captain: , Here and There (443)

Nice dinghy dock, helpful members, decent showers, and a short walk into town. We try to get a mooring here when we can for our visit to Castine.

Disappointing, 2010-11-26
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

We had reserved a mooring with the Club -- but when we arrived discovered that the mooring was way too close to the next boat over. Had to move over to the town dock.

Showers available, 2010-08-23
Captain: , Ft. Myers, FL (134)

CYC welcomes transient cruisers and provides showers for $3 each and trash disposal for $1 per bag. Guest moorings are first come first served for $25, but can dinghy here from anchorage at Smith's Cove. The few members we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
