Reviews for Carolina Yacht Club
No longer accept transient boats., 2014-04-25
Captain: , Tampa, Florida (100)

04.25.2014 Called the facility to see about a slip. We are members of another yacht club. We were told they no longer grant reciprocity and have no transient slips.

Very nice facility, staff and members are very friendly. It is formal, members dress in jackets/ties/hats. And they celebrate the victory of the south over the north with their cannon. This knocked me out of my berth at 0600 hrs when it went off.

When we were there you needed a club affliation to dock.

Easy access to a number of restaurants within walking distance of the marina.

Quite Wakey, 2010-11-12
Captain: , Morristown, NJ (383)

You definitely need to have a yacht club affiliation. Their club is lovely if you are of the 'formal generation'. Sometimes it can be fun to dress up, put away those t's and tevos and the dinner won't be disappointing. They were very accomodating with dockage and very friendly. There is quite a bit of wake from the river, so be prepared to rock.
Very easy access to 'South of Broad'and all the attractions and restaurants. Speaking of which you cannot go wrong dining most places. We enjoyed a fantastic evening at the Mercato restaurant, where they provide jazz music, thurs/fri nights. A great menu and quite enjoyable and you can wear whatever you like.

We have had great experience, 2010-11-02
Captain: , Key Biscayne FL (3049)

This is to counter the negative rating of the previous post. We have always been treated very well during 6 stays at the club. It is a very small facility and not set up like a transient marina. We have once or twice told that the dock was not available.

Just consider the nature of the facility. It is operated for the benefit of the members not transients.

Probably great but not for us, 2010-07-05
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (995)

The previous review sounds great. When we were docked at the Ashley Marina, we took out tender out to explore the rest of the area. We pulled into this facility to see if we could dock for a couple of hours, willing to pay for that right, and were quickly shooeeed away. So might be great for big boat dockage but not for the little guys. Being closer to old town, I might have considered bringing our 58' around.

Nice Alternative, 2008-10-19
Captain: , Friday Harbor, WA (490)

We stayed here on 10/19/08. Floating docks, private yacht club, but accepts transits. Very close to the down town water front. We stayed here because we wanted walking distance to the down town area. The Maratime center was full and this was empty. Nice dock folks
