Reviews for Captain Sam's Boatyard
Fair and Honest, 2016-07-21
Captain: , Washington, NC (23)

Just had bottom repainted, a little keel fairing, and topsides waxed. Work was excellent quality and done on schedule. Most importantly to me the cost was exactly as quoted, which has not often been my experience. I would recommend anyone looking for some work to be done to speak with Norman Hawn, the shipyard manager, and expect to be treated honestly and fairly.

A Great Place for Maintenance and Repair, 2015-11-26
Captain: , Charleston, SC (76)

Capt. Sam's staff are very helpful and accomodating. It is a great yard for DIY and contracted work. Reasonable prices for storage, painting, and repairs. Bathrooms and a shower if you are staying aboard while you have work completed. Also WIFI. Town with stores, etc. is only 10 minutes away.

Nice Place to work on your boat, 2014-12-04
Captain: , Raleigh N.C. (20)

I have a sailboat on the hard at Captain Sams, The staff is very friendly and helpful, You are able to do your on work in the yard or have the yard do it. There are many boats stored in this yard but I have never seen more than about 8 people there at any time which makes it a quite place to stay over night. If you need to haul out for repairs I would highly recommend Captain Sam's

Winter Over, 2014-06-14
Captain: , Oxford (41)

Spent a successful Nov - Apr past winter at Sam's. The staff is knowledgable and flexible to work with. I would gladly return for another winter. With my 5' draft, one must pay attention to the wind direction to have enough water to get in & out.
There probably will be DIY company working on their boats.

First rate service, fair rate, excellent advice, 2014-04-15
Captain: , Washington, NC (40)

Wanted a quick haul for new prop, topside cosmetics, & possible bottom paint. Will and Tom had good advice, didn't try to talk me into a complete paint job & sold me just the amount of Pettit SR60 I needed to get a new layer on 6 inches below the boot-stripe. Price for the haul was as quoted, advice was free and accurate. Tom accommodated my schedule. Capt Sam had the right technique and proper tool to pull the old prop off. Highly recommend this yard. Storm haul and bottom paint, 2012-11-02
Captain: , Essex, CT (37)

Hauled out for Sandy and had bottom done at same time. Sam, Tom and William on hand to get our stabilized 42 Grand Banks out with out any issues. William got on the bottom job pronto and did a first rate job at a very fair price. Put boat back in today as promised. I looked into several other yards before making decision where to go, feel like we made a good choice.

Finally... a boatyard you can trust., 2012-05-30
Captain: , Washington, NC (50)

I've had a variety of jobs done here, bottom paint, hauling, fiberglass repair, etc. etc. While no boat repairs are cheap, these guys are reasonable and I feel they are honest. Bills are completely itemized, final bill is very close to estimate. The fiberglass work is outstanding and engine work too is very good.
They will also do their best to accomodate your schedule.
Best in the area, well worth the trip up from the ICW.

Phenomenal Boatyard!, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Washington, NC 27889 (10)

I recently completed a 2-week haul out. The staff could not have been more competent & helpful. Moreover, I could work on the boat myself w/o charge for this time. I received excellent advice & assistance. The bill was exceedingly reasonable!

A great storage hideout, 2012-05-29

Left the boat with Capt Sam for off season and DYI work projects. Treated very fairly. Not posh but very comfortable and convenient for us.
