Reviews for Captain Hiram's Marina Resort
Came in late, ate dinner, left early - easy stay, 2017-03-10
Captain: , High Springs, FL (848)

During a boat delivery we arrived around 7:45pm which was well after they closed the marina office. We tied up in an empty slip and went in to grab some dinner. Had a decent meal and headeded back to the boat for a few hours of sleep. We were underway again as the sun was rising so no real way to see the rest of the resort.

I called the office in the morning to let them know that we were in and out before they opened and to inquire what we owed for our visit. The lady at the office said that she appreciated the honesty of us saying we were in/ out (not even there 10 hours) and offering to pay and since we ate dinner she was going to waive the dock fees.

THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE!! First, people should be honest about things like this regardless. Second, marinas should see the value in the occasional "freebee." In this case, we spent $80 at dinner so it paid off for the wait staff.

Tough Place to Rate, 2017-02-17
Captain: , Brunswick, GA (301)

Gave Captain Hiram's a 3-Star rating as a marina, but depending on your sense of adventure it could be a 2 or a four. As a marina for our 40-ft trawler, it's not a spot we'd choose again. The water at the dock is very shallow -- we draw about 3.5 feet and spend some time sitting on the keel. East wind blows water out with the tide. Inexperienced dock hand confused docking more than helped. A tour boat captain helped us get our lines tied. No trouble pulling out 2-15-2017 with the sonar showing 1.6 ft. The "Marina Resort" is an old-style Florida resort that caters to land traffic that thinks this is what the Bahamas looks like, which is what makes it a fun place. Tiki bar and resturant, live music every night, and pretty decent conch fritters. On the other hand, the shower is in the last stall in the bar men's room. 'Nuff said about that. High winds predicted (and realized) or we'd have probably anchored out and dinghied into the resort. I did provide us a safe haven from the wind.

Good holding in bad storm, 2016-09-12
Captain: , satellite beach (20)

Had 25-30knt winds out fo the NNW 4:1 scope on 35lb delta with 10' chain on rode mix. Depth finder went out so we felt our way in here got a spot that was a little crowded due the holiday weekend. We were able to Dingy in to captain Hiram%u2019s and use the pool and shower. We also went back for breakfast.

Good place to unwind, 2015-12-07
Captain: , Ft. Pierce (111)

Only been here by land but a fun place to have a few drinks a bite to eat and relax. I like the idea of sitting outside with my feet in the sand. Live music most of the time.

Capt. Hirams, 2015-02-09
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Non floating docks, nice bar but quite pricey for a tiki bar!, resturants, on property. Has more dockage that this indicates, in o6 anyway
old crummy docks

Close to Walmart, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Beaufort, SC (541)

Stopped for a couple of hours to shop at Walmart. Let us tie up to the new north dock, no charge. Much improved since our last stop in 2006. Very helpful staff. Will be noisy if you spend the night on a weekend!

Great for drinking! Horrible for transient docking!, 2014-07-27
Captain: , MERRITT ISLAND (21)

We pulled in here at sunset. Shallow, high wooden docks and over priced for the area and what they had to offer.

We wanted a safe place with water, electric and nice hot showers. In at sunset, out at sunrise.

What we got was a loud rowdy bar. Guess where the showers were? IN THE BAR BATHROOM! I had drunks talking to me and pawing through my stuff while I showered!

On the other hand, if you want to party hard, this is your spot.

Hiding from a Storm, 2013-04-12
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

We stayed here a few years ago and needed a place to hide from an approaching storm (it never really materialized) on our way north this Spring. It's an OK place, but when the wind is blowing out of the east the water level drops significantly. We were stirring up alot of mud backing into the slip. They advertise five feet, but it was more like threeand a half. That made it difficult to get off the boat at the fixed wooden docks that were six feet off the water. A great little bar and music, good food and helpful staff.

Would Not Stay There Again, 2013-03-13
Captain: , Orlando, FL (30)

Stayed there in June 2009. Two groups of us tooled down the ICW and stayed the night here at their hotel. Service was horrible, docks were in bad shape. 2-3 fights broke out in the outside bar...cops all over the place....they said it was a regular occurrence there.

Great atmosphere!, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Orlando, FL (275)

This place makes you feel like you are in the inslands, sand floor, great bands. Food was ok. Look for the little beach area, great place to kick back and watch the sunset. We stayed at the dock one night $2/ft., not worth it, restaurant cleaners start at 6am, too loud. Better to anchor off shore near the islands.

Has great bands to listen to over a drink, 2011-04-18
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

Nice tourist hangout, bands are great. Can dink to the dock or beach.

Stay close to the docks!, 2011-02-20
Captain: , Stuart, Fl (435)

When entering here, go to the north of the docks, only place with any depth....but not more than 50' north or you will call Tow Boat like we did! Really disappointed in the dock help. We pulled in and got a pump out. They told us where our slip was, but didn't warn us that the depth 50' from the dock was only 2'! Slips have very short, narrow fingers and electric is only at a few of the slips. Be sure they put you in one of those unless you have lots of cord!
The bathroom and showers were pretty nasty (shared with a bar that holds about 500 people)
All that said, the place is fun, too bad they don't fix up the marina.

Old and Run Down, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (385)

Old non-floating docks in poor repair. Dock hand almost non-existant. Poor protection from wind and wakes.

Restaurant was OK but didn't make it worthwhile to stay there again.

Not a bad Stop, 2010-07-05
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1522)

I've stayed there a couple of times now. Most of restaurant food is good. Great bar and music. Dock hand, not sure if Dockmaster, is helpful but not very good at helping with lines. Deeper water then what cruising guide says. I've put a 52' Sea Ray in there with little problem. Music goes on until about 1am so be prepared. What depth during entry.

tie up fees, 2007-10-28
Captain: , seminole (1)

spent three nights at their hotel and the tie-up fees were high:
$35.00 per day w/out elect. or water
