Reviews for Capitola Boat and Bait
If you are getting a mooring ball this is the place to pay., 2015-08-09

If you are coming from the south be sure to enter directly into the anchorage and don't follow the coast line as there are some large kelp fields. When leaving to continue south it is a straight shot to Monterey, about 3 hours. When you get there you can either pick up a mooring ball or anchor outside the mooring field. We opted for the mooring ball so I can't speak on anchoring. When we pulled into Capitola the swells were out of the NW which is the normal. Very calm anchorage. The next day the swells were from the SW and that makes this anchorage very rolly. We stayed 2 days before we left for Monterey. At the time the mooring ball is $25 per day which included free water taxi. Capitola Boat and Bait is where you will pay for the mooring ball and they have ice and a small selection of grocery. Capitola is a nice little town. We took the taxi to the dock and walked in, about a 5 minute walk. There is a Quality Market close. We had lunch at a little sandwich shop for a reasonable price. Shop around. If it wasn't for the swells coming out of the SW for the next few days we may have stayed longer.
