Stay Away from this marina!, 2017-04-21

Rock in the middle entry marked channel!! Stay away from this marina or you are going to damage your boat.

Be aware! Stay away from this Marina! There is a rock in the middle of the marked entry channel. Unbelievable. We sustained serious damage.

Great Marina - Frank makes it as good as it gets in the DR, 2017-02-08
Captain: , winterset, iowa (80)

It takes the marina's largest passanger cart to bring out the 8 customs, immagration, navy and drug enforcement, bookeeping, vegitable inspectors and who knows what else.... officials.
Its hard to keep a straight face as they all try to climb aboard my 36ft sailboat. Its like jackles have found a dead zebra and its time to feast. They all sit around writting reciepts waiting for the dollars to roll in from the boat... Other sailors suggested turning your running lights out and sailing by the DR in fear. They may have been right.

I rate the marina 5 stars, its the check in process that makes it not worth the visit.

Great convenient Marina, 2016-05-04
Captain: , Melbourne FL (120)

Very secure inside large basin with residential blocks around. Easy car hire for $65/day trip to Higuay interesting clear out easy took 10 minutes $20 as advised no requests for gifts.

The Glitz and Grandeur, 2015-04-12
Captain: , With the Winds Environmental Expedition Team (350)

A great marina to be sure, with many big plans for the future. Nice staff greeted our arrival to the DR with a few Presidente. Overly huge slips (our T37 was dwarfed). Still no laundry facilities, but there are now very nice showers and bathrooms for cruisers. You also have access to facilities like the fitness center and tasty but reasonable priced restaurants. Glitz and grandeur surrounds.
If you're trying to check in with customs from PR or elsewhere, coming here is a no brainier. Staff will go out of their way to ease the check in process, which can be a pain elsewhere (*cough*Luperon*cough*Samana).

Visiting Cap Cana is was very nice. Beautiful marina. Pilot service was great. They don't let scooters in the development. Would go back.

DR regulations a big pain, 2015-02-27
Captain: , Brunswick (20)

I am giving the marina 5 stars because the peolple there are great and the facilities are top notch. That's the good, the bad. Clearing in and out of customs, immagration, navy and drug enforcement is such a pain that I cannot recommend going to the DR at this time. If and when things change this marina would be first on my list. PS: beware of the Mona Passage.

As with most successful facilities, it is the staff that defines this marina, 2015-02-10
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (250)

The marina is modern with many amenities. Multiple pools, tennis courts, shopping and walking paths. The docks are fixed concrete and there are several very nice and reasonably priced restaurants within the facility. there is a small chandlery with a modest amount of cleaning and maintenance supplies. From the moment we entered their very well sheltered harbor, we were attended to by Mr. Frank Castillo,Dockmaster. Frank assisted with fueling, securing lines at our slip, making sure we had plenty of ice as well as being a wealth of information about the Dominican Republic. Frank even went so far as to drive us on a several hour tour of the local area and wait while we went shopping at a modern, full sized Dominican Supermarket. Frank also helped us contact various service technicians as we elected to do some scheduled maintenance while waiting for our weather window.

Not for yachties who stay on board the boat, 2014-05-29
Captain: , Cairns (10)

All the Staff were MOST EXCELLENT. Helpful and firendly which is why it got 4 stars and not the 1 star it really deserves.
No laundry facilites at all and yet we are not allowed to hang out our washing. I understand that laundry is unsightful but if there are no shoreside facilities what else can we do?
No toilet or shower facilities at all.
A lot of construction work going on with noise from grinders and hammers until 7 pm.
Being completely surrounded by 4 story condominium blocks the marina is airless and hot.
This place caters for sport fishing boats, of which there are hundreds parked here. Only saw 4 sailboats here and all were leaving within a day.
Unfortunatley, we dont have a choice - its the only place to wait for the weather to corss the Mona. If you come, keep your expectations low and you wont be disappointed.

Best Marina on the east coast of DR, 2014-01-20
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (132)

We have been here a couple of times, last time was on 2013-12-18, helpful staff. Great restaurant on site, opens daily at evening, little pricey but worth it. Slip prices are excellent for a marina of this quality. This is a big private project, so you need to take long taxi rides to get out of the marina complex (Cap Cana) to town or other places around.

Luxury for a $1.30 a foot, 2013-12-11
Captain: , Savannah, GA (20)

Needed to wait out big seas before crossing the Mona. Stayed here for 5 nights. Can't be beat for the price. Alsol Luxury Village hotel is a steal at $130 a night breakfast included if you want to get off the boat.

Bring a few hundred dollars in singles on one in the DR ever has change. It's a $2.00 cab ride to the hotel. Average worker makes $3.00 USD an hour so giving a $3.00 tip is way more than generous.

Cant beat the service for the price., 2012-01-13
Captain: , England (411)

Top class service from the pilot, to the office to the dock marinaras. The place is a large high class resort, under construction, but all the marina facilities are there. Nice docks, resturants, water, electric etc. Everyone wants to give you A1 service. Customs etc all priced up so no surprises. and all at a very reasonable sub $1 a foot in the sailing season ( more in the summer). We dont do many marinas, but this was a tast of luxury and a nice price with friendly and efficient service.

One of, if not the best marina., 2011-06-06
Captain: , Clearwater FL (685)

We stayed in Ocean world marina and Puerto Bahia, and this marina is equal to the other two, depending what is important to you. Coming in, we had a dingy come out to meet us and guide us the first red green markers. The marina is very well protected from weather, fuel is less expensive than other marinas, and dockage is reasonable. Restaurants ( a few to choose from) in the complex are not cheap, but the food was good, this is defiantly a high end resort. We could not ck out early, had to wait till 7am for all the officials to show up, but the process was smooth. It%u2019s a strait run to Boqueron from here.

Best Marina in DR... maybe best in Caribbean, 2011-03-08
Captain: , Port St Lucie (514)

Certainly the best marina we've been to. And we've travelled thousands of miles in US, Bahamas, DR, Pacific. This place is like a Monte Carlo marina with a 5 star resort and a high end golf community. Service is as spectacular as the ammenities. It is a little under-utiilyzed at the moment but that's a plus in our mind.

Checkout in DR can be a confusing delaying mess. Not in Cap Cana. We asked to have our power meter read at 5:30 amd and it was done right on time. Then to expedite we departure we had Customs, Immigration, Navy, Coast Guard, and local police simultaneously at the boat to get our information. The fee? US$20 just like it said on the price sheet. No haggling, no hassle. We'll be back to this place.

A well-marled channel leads rght in to the very protected marina and a pilot boat will meet you at the first marker if you call ahead.

Try this marina if you're in the area.
