Reviews for Cannonsport Marina
Nice and peaceful, 2015-05-07
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (175)

This is a nice Marina, very good facility, the staff are very friendly, the Dock Master is very nice person. restaurants are very close into a very nice area, there is only one detail; big current, so you most be careful with the lines during low tide, but the rest is perfect, I would like to come back to this marina.

Really, Really Nice Marina, 2014-03-02
Captain: , Miami, FL (94)

This is a great "little" marina. The staff are very, very friendly and are knowledgeable and skilled. The marina is relatively quiet and peaceful -- there are predominatly fishing boats docked here. Fuel is available at every slip.

The marina is located in a quiet area of Palm Beach Shores and is easy walking distance (a few blocks) to several very good restaurants. There is also a convenience store and a pack-and-ship store located nearby. Walking over the bridge (about a mile) is a Publix grocery store and several excellent fishing tackle stores.

Some of the things to be aware/careful of:

- High cement fixed docks: Be sure you have plenty of fenders and chafe gear. There aren't enough cleats on the T-heads; therefore, you will need to tie off to one or more pilings. The tide swing is about three feet.

- Potentially strong currents: We were docked on a T-head, so it wasn't a problem for us. (We have been in marinas that have a much greater current.) Be careful and take it slow, and you shouldn't have any problems. The dock hands are very knowledgeable and helpful.

We will definitely stop back here !!!

Fascinating Place, 2013-03-17
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

Just left there headed north. Stayed for a few days as I had to fly home for business and the airport is very near here. This is a very good facility with a nice pool, reasonable ships store and one clean unisex bathroom/shower. I found the staff to be very helpful and nice. Good restaurant within walking distance and several chain eateries nearby as well. Minor grocery shopping nearby and liquor also with a short walk. They even recommneded an excellent cab driver to take me to and pick me up from the airport. One needs to know that this place has a very strong current.

However the best part is the people watching. If you are lucky to be there during a warm weekend day the parade of boats big and small is constant and contains about all that mankind can offer. At low tide a sand bar appears across the channel. This attracts all sorts of partiers, families and dogs. The dogs have the best time running around. It is great to watch. If you enjoy watching people this is up there with Fort Lauderdale during spring break. I wil return!!

An accident that could have been avoided!, 2013-03-09

We unfortunately attempted to enter slip 28 at the end of the fuel dock with a high northwest wind and strong ebb tide running south. Should have declined slip ordered by Patricia and had her give us a slip facing south. On second approach attempted to abort again, but wind and current pinned boat against bows of two big motor cruisers in adjacent slips. Suffered $7,500 damages to my 40-foot Island Packet sloop, repaired at Rybovich Yard across waterway. Lesson: listen to your inner voice, which told me to not try and enter that slip! In my view Patricia erred in assigning me that slip with existing wind and tide conditions. Also, she was only person on dock to assist docking. It took a Tow Boat more than an hour to get my boat loose. Harbor Master Tom Price was more than polite, but I would not return to this marina again. Also, it was priciest marina I have used on waterway, at $2.25 a foot!

the people make it really great, 2013-01-01

We stopped here based upon the reviews below and were not disappointed at all. Yes, the very high, fixed, cement docks are imposing and the pilings are ideal for large sport fishing boats, but once you get a good spring line in place it is quite comfortable.

There must be a good 3+ feet of tide change and WOW the water is clear all the way to the bottom (12-15 feet) at high tide with many starfish and schools of smaller fish and larger sport fish too. A big snook hit one guy's line in the marina but got away in the pilings and boats! There is nice snorkeling right down at the corner of the block at the local park, complete with life guard and many divers. There are rays, starfish, clown fish, and many silver fish with pretty colored stripes. Another couple saw a manatee with a calf from the bridge that is a short walk to the Publix that you can see from the marina. Tom, the manager, and Patricia, office/dock hand, were exceedingly welcoming and made our stay as pleasant as possible. The pool, hot tub, and the whole lighted/landscaped pool deck with gas grills you are welcome to use are wonderful! There is a fairly large, commercail washer ($2) and dryer ($1.50) that are new and clean.

The grounds are immaculate/upscale. We met a nice couple and had a lovely New Years Day dinner with them. The surrounding neighborhood is delightful. The bricked walk through town and walkway along the inlet to the beach is wonderful and many people are out walking throughout the day and evenings. Adjacent to the neighborhood is the main beach/island road that has a generous, well marked bike path all the way to the state park (did not get farther than that). This where there are many high rise resorts and condos and restaurants and shops. There is great access to the nice beaches with showers and foot wash stations and pavilions for shade.

Only negatives: it is pricey ($2.25/ft) and there is only one shower/toilet/sink room + two more toilet/sink rooms near the pool area. It is primarily a forest of tall tower sport fishing boats but they are welcoming to all boaters and the marina's goal is to have every visitor leave happy and well served.

Friendly Staff & Central Location, 2012-11-10
Captain: , Hilton head (30)

We just stayed there. Had to stay on the end of the t-dock due to a full marina, but they were willing to help. The weather was getting rough. The concrete fixed docks are high and hard for sail boats. This is a sport fisherman's marina. Jose, the resident dockhand, was awesome. The location is perfect for grocery stores, beaches, and lots of great places to eat!

Great Place! Great Service, 2012-07-26

We just stayed here for the first time and will definitely make it a regular stop. The docks are immaculate and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful pool and spa and it is within walking distance of grocery stores and restaurants. Excellent place!

Great ammenities, 2011-11-28

Cannonsport Marina mostly caters to the sportfish crowd but welcomes all boaters. Super friendly staff with a nice pool, hot tub and is convenient to all Singer Island has to offer. Walking distance to a neighborhood grocery store, liquor store and a half dozen restaurants. Driving distance to a West Marine and Boat Owners Warehouse, multiple large regional supermarkets, several tackle supply stores and several dive shops. Be sure to: take a walk on the island's walking trails that run along the inlet and through a Banyan tree park; dingy over Peanut Island; snorkel the old bridge at Phil Foster park during slack tide. I've actually seen manatee swim through the marina! This is a marina we make a point of stopping at whenever we are heading south or to the Bahamas.

Good overnight, 2011-03-05
Captain: , Nashville, TN (290)

Docks are fixed but in great shape, Plenty of depth for our 6ft keel even at low tide. There is a current but it is on your bow or stern. Fuel at T. Close to the many restaurant opportunities and Sailfish resort. We enjoyed our stay. It is small so check ahead.

Helpful young staff. Strong current due to tidal flow. Walk to restaurant next door.
