Reviews for Canal Street Marina

Thet banged up my boat with their crane when taking it out. Put 2 fist size holes in the hull, but they claim the boat "arrived that way". Several thousand in damages and they won't do anything about it. Go to a pro yard like Crowleys instead.

Edit: Responding to the review above. Not sure what seems "wrong" about my review, but every word is true. I had to sue them to get paid for repairs for the damage they did. Then they tried to bill me for THEIR legal costs. Take a close look at your contract with Canal Street. It says that in the event of a dispute, you pay their legal fees NO MATTER WHO is found to be at fault. Luckily I had a good lawyer who knew the contract was unenforceable because it's unconscionable.

Finally got my money from these criminals after I got affadavits from Monroe tender drivers saying that my boat was in perfect shape when I dropped it off.

Worst experience I've ever had in the marine industry, and that's saying something.

The adjacent one-star review seems wrong to me, so I figured I'd weigh in with my experience.

I've been here for about four years and would not seriously consider the other two local options for mast-up storage. I have been further down the river and really don't like those guys. (And they don't really like their customers either, so it works out fine.)

For those that like more polish, Canal St. is not for you. The yard is gravel, and the staff have dirty fingernails, but they are friendly, knowlegeable and take care of things. It's a new-ish operation and they are growing and upgrading. (All new docks last year, along with a new crane.)

Two years ago I painted the hull, but could not get to the space under the pads. Without my knowlege, when they put me in they held the boat in the sling, sanded, and painted those spots for me. Quite a nice surprise.

Around the corner from Chinatown if you need food. Coded doors so you have access any time you need it, no need to work around what is convenient for the yard. You decide who works on your boat - bring in any professional help you like, no need to use only the mechanic provided by the yard.

Crowleys looks nice I suppose, but given my location, this yard is MUCH closer for weekend work or the occasional after work project. The drive to Crowleys would definitely limit my ability to do that.

Four of five stars only because it's more like a working yard than a polished club-type storage.
