Additional info:

Reported to have 7.5 feet at 1 hour prior to a high tide of 2.5 feet or about 5.5 feet at MLW.

It was reported 2014 that any marks that may have been present have now disapeared. Only when you are almost in front of the harbor will you see sticks, white and then green and red. So the approach has become difficult.

Reviews for Caicos Marina and Shipyard
Relatively Cheap But Remote, 2017-05-12
Captain: , Oregon (386)

We hauled out here for some repairs on our Catamaran. This is basically a one-person-show that is run by the Manager, James. It is very loosely run. Docks are rough and have room for about 7 larger position is taken by the police boat so security is pretty good but dockage is limited. Call Ahead! Getting into town is a 3-4 mile trip and cabs are expensive....cheaper to rent a car since they will deliver it to you. Entrance can be shallow so enter cautiously. There is grass and some coral near the entrance to watch for.

Cheap, Deep, Clean and easy to access at any tide, 2017-02-08

We came here so we could have a better jumping off point to leave to the DR and our friend had a deep draft boat (6.2 ft). Very easy to enter. There is a new green marker at the entrance - make sure to go between that and the red. It is marking a reef. Facilities are nicer than what I would think of for a shipyard. Bathroom and laundry are within 30 ft of your boat if you are on the wall. Staff are very friendly. Cannot beat it $1.05 a foot!

Great Marina, 2016-01-15
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (20)

we were hauled out here last year for work on our rudder and were very satisfied with the expertise of the manager, Jamie, and the staff at Caribbean Marine and Diesel. The office staff and dock hands are extremely friendly and helpful. This is an easy Marina to enter and leave, and a perfect place to stop on route to the DR or the Bahamas. In fact, we came back here two more times and plan to return in the spring on our way north.

A useful and safe small marina with haulout facility and shipyard. Attached is an Engine Repair Shop. Alll very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced at $1.05 per foot, both wet and dry. All work below waterline to be carried out by the staff. Liveaboard allowed in the shipyard. Police launches moored here, which are manned 24hours. Approach from the south marked with a lead-in white buoy (pass either side) and tall red and green channel entrance markers. Keel vessels should arrive at high tide, with 7' at the entrance. Very quiet. Shops over 3 miles north, so transport required. No chandlery or shop on site. Ice, laundry, heads and showers only. Witnessed good quality work on a reef-damaged vessel, and engine repair shop also good standard. Pleasant, if a bit islolated place to await weather window, or escape strong on-shore winds at Sapodilla.

Great point to start a Bahamian vacation, 2014-12-11
Captain: , Trident Yacht Club (31)

We sailed into the Caicos Marina and Shipyard after a 10 day transit from Chesapeake Bay. The Shipyard was very accommodating and it provides the distict advantage of being able to haul out the vessel for maintenance. Storage on land is cheaper than marina space and the savings allow you to maintain your vessel. The island is gorgeous, the beaches are unbeatable and we enjoyed both the resturants and snorkelling. Perhaps best of all, the T&C`s allow you to plan for a trip visiting the Bahamas going with the prevailing wind.

Great protection and excellent staff, 2014-04-08
Captain: , Fremantle, WA, Australia (28)

We were only going to stay at the marina for 2 nights but ended up staying 8!
A great, secure and sheltered place. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit - just follow the waypoints (Explorer Charts). Facilities - laundry and restrooms/bathrooms adequate.

Clean, with nice people, pricy, fare of the center, 2014-01-11
Captain: , Palma de Mallorca (1053)

but otherwhise very very quiet. Difficult to rate. It is anyway a must, it is a Port of Entry

Nioce little marina with depth upto 2,3 m a high tide., 2013-06-20
Captain: , Helsingborg, Sweden (108)

A wounderful wellkept little marina, saflly situaded in chanel and with the deepest slips on island. We had to enter with our sailboat drafting 7,5 ' during high tide. Great hospitality and service! Couldn't be better hidingplace for windy wether. We'l be back!

Quiet but not much going on, 2012-11-29
Captain: , St Thomas (170)

Visited this marina as we struggled to get into any other marina for draft and swell restrictions. Team here are very helpful and very supportive. Diesel maintenance shop next door to marina, 75 ton lift on site so getting things done here is relatively easy. However there is no entertainment on site and we seem to be the only boat with liveaboards. Very secure place that should be given a chance
