Reviews for Cable Marine East Yard
Honest and Trustworthy - Made things right, 2016-06-15

I don't typically do reviews. I have used Cable now 2 times, first was in 2014 for routine maint, and a full bottom job including a soda blast. 2 Years later and Petit SR60 paint, the bottom is holding really well.

Now to 2016, I brought my Tiara in for a leaky rudder that needed to be repacked. Keith is alway accomidating, and I am always there from beginning of the job to the end as I want to not only learn, but ensure things are done right. The mechanics worked hard to get the rudders packed and me on my way (even stayed overtime - at my cost of course to get out that evening).

Fast forward to 3 weeks later, 500 ft of water in a remote part of the bahamas... I jump into the water, and first thing I see is my rudder hanging 5 inches out of the bottom of the boat. Later I discover the rudder is only being held in by the safety pin... and after 4 hours of pounding through the Atlantic, that safety pin was about to shear through. I was luckily with in cellular coverage and called Cable.

Keith promply took my call, and called me back after consulting with the mechanic. We quickly made our way back to bimini to find a diver and mechanic who were able to re-secure the rudder with a new bolt. Unfortunately, Cable had used the old bolt and nut which failed.

Now to the positive, Cable marine owned the problem, promptly showed up with their top mechanic (25 + years), and checked over and replaced anything that might have been suspect. They also made it right as far as the cost. The fact that Keith was there via his mobile phone, he took the calls and helped make things right in an industry that is known for less than stellar practices, makes Keith and Cable Marine an A in my books.

East Yard, be specific and inspect what you expect, 2007-04-21

Had a bottom job perfomed here in 05, good work on that count. However, I had other work performed and had my challenges.

First, their workers we not neat and the engine room and boat were delivered to me filthy with grease. Workers sat on white seats in fithy clothes, cock pit soles were not covered and workers wore street shoes and ground in swirls in the glass, yes you get the picture. It took weeks to clean the boat up.

Now, let me state that management made things right on the next issue, BUT it told me they do not supervise the work their men complete. I had work performed on my generator and while my bill indicated it was all perfomed, when I went to pick up the boat the gen would start but not run. Come to find out they didn't replace the water pump as ordered, nor did they oil change the filters, and the air cleaner was still the old one ... nothing perfomed, but the mechanics turned in the work as complete. The work then had to be completed as I stood there waiting to leave the yard. Management was obviously embarassed, but they need to supervise their staff better. Your Milage May Vary with this venerable yard, but the owner or captain will be well advised to supervise the supervisors in this yard and to check their bill against insepcted work.
NOTE: this YARD owns a supply house Boat Owners Warehouse and bottom jobs come with 10% of the bottom's cost in discount cupons at BOW for purchases. A good deal on that count,
