OK, so I did something really stupid and injured my thumb seriously while picking up a mooring. These folks got us onto the dock right behind the fuel dock for the night (so a VERY helpful resident of the marina could take me to the ER), refused to accept any more payment than for the mooring, and did everything they could to make us feel welcome and to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank YOU, guys!

family owned and great people! , 2016-07-28

Stayed there several times and it was enjoyable for everyone!

Very friendly marina, 2015-09-07

Called ahead to ask about a slip to go to the Waterfront Restaurant.
They asked what time we would get there and they were there waiting to help us in. Very friendly staff. Restaurant was great. Will go back again.

A Marina like Hotel California, 2014-12-03
Captain: , Santa Maria CV (415)

We wanted to get in for 2-3 days and stayed for 2 months. We found a very familiar atmosphere and decided to do all major repairs right there after 2 days. Adam helped us with all our needs and we found great help from Paul, Aaron, Harley and Billy as well. Technical magicians and fantastic BBQ evenings with other regulars. The prices were more than fair. Only the weather forced us to leave and go more south. Who is in the vicinity of New London should definitely plan a visit in this marina.

Great Hospitality, 2014-11-22

Stayed here in a transient slip for a weekend visiting some friends, great atmosphere , fuel dock attendant was great help I wish I could remenber her name , They have a great Restaurant there as well with a nice bar . The Rhode Island clam chowder was one of the best I ever had also my wife raved about the baked scrod she had for dinner, would not hesitate to go back. They also have a nice in ground pool the kids can use which is a nice plus

A great place to call home!, 2014-06-12
Captain: , Orcas Island, WA (212)

From 2012: This is the best marina in New London! Dave and his crew will bend over backwards for you if you let them. They got the shit kicked out of them by "Sandy" in 2012 but they just hunkered down and did the repairs that needed to be done and the marina is quickly getting back in order.

UPDATE: 6/14, Our engine quit on us in Oyster Bay and we sailed all the way to Burr's because we knew we could trust them to hook us up with local pros that genuinely cared. We were right. The whole experience was respectful, though we're not a big money pit. They did exactly what we wanted - helped us diagnose the problem and then let us fix it. Special thanks to Paul for getting us to Billy; to Billy for everything - especially the elbow - and for hooking us up with Carl; to Carl, the diesel genius who figured it all out.

the help from all the guys, 2013-07-15

Friendliest marina in Connecticut!, 2012-09-29
Captain: , Bayfield, WI and the ICW (1400)

The facility could use an update, but it has two washers and driers, fuel and water, restooms, cable TV and some of the nicest and most interesting liveaboards you're ever going to meet.

Captain: , Cleveland, OHio (421)

We had picked up a mooring at the City morring field, and during a bad storm, our dinghy got punctured by the City dinghy dock.

So we came back to our dinghy, and limped out to our boat.
Callled Burr's, they said they could take care of us right then, sent a guy out to get a hyperlon repair kit.

Want to thank Dave, Adam, and Bill for a great repair job and their hospitality. this is a family owned marina for 3 generqations.

It is not a fancy/pretty marine, but a working place who can fix
your boat at a reasonable price and get you back on your trip.

We stayed at a morring which was right off the fuel dock.

If you need work in New London, Ct , this is where to go.

Nice people...but, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Lewes, DE (178)

We pulled up because we saw the SeaTow discount sign, but the diesel pump wasn't working and neither was the pump out. He did take our garbage 200 feet down the dock as he went to get us ice.

old an run down, 2012-01-03

Visited For SailFest Fireworks, 2011-08-11
Captain: , Deep River, CT (251)

The facilities are not the newest nor the best, but I found the staff to be very helpful. Once I had backed into my slip, I realized that the pilings I needed to put lines on were way beyond my bow. The staff realized that my 30 foot boat was in a slip for a 50 foot boat and they brought a workboat to the end of the slip to help get lines on pilings.
We met several of the season slip holders and they all were friendly. We enjoyed the fireworks on the dock with fellow boaters.

Great spot for the fireworks, 2011-03-20
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, FL (143)

Burr's was able to accomodate us on short notice (about an hour) with a transient slip with a great view of the Sailfest fireworks in July 2010. The staff was friendly and very helpful getting us secured to the fixed docks with a bit of a breeze.

The facilities are a bit tired, but serviceable. I hope to see the fireworks from Burr's again in 2011.

Helpful and Attentive, 2011-02-04
Captain: , New London CT (121)

Being local with choices helps me to say that these people know their responsibilities to the public and always fulfill them effectively. Your not in Kansas anymore. This is New London Connecticut and if your on a boat your expected to handle it, with local assistance provided. Nice people run this place and services are proffesionally offered and completed.

(ps and updated 2005 review is unwarranted in my opinion, give it another try)

Any port in a storm - updated, 2010-04-06
Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

Please note that this review is updated, but based on our visit in July of 2005.

We made reservations here based on location as they are well situated for viewing the New London fireworks. The amenities at this marina were not quite what we expected, based on what we had read in the cruising guide. We found the small staff to be generally unfriendly and untrained. Even the boat owners were unfriendly, something we have not encountered anywhere else. One "neighbor" allowed his young son to urinate off the dock directly onto our swim platform! We did have a fabulous view of the fireworks which are always held the weekend after July 4th. Sponsored by the local Native American Tribe, these are the best fireworks between NY and Boston.

No Problem Here...., 2010-01-14
Captain: , New London, CT (14)

I found the owners of Burr's to be a bit old school. They actually expect you to know how to operate your boat. Each time I visted, I had one dock person help me with my lines and that all that was needed. The people on my dock were more friendly than I expected. I knew the names of four people before I made my way to the swimming pool. The docks are older but repairs are being kept up as time and money allows. No problems here. A Great place to watch the July fireworks. I now dock my boat there. LL
