Reviews for Burnt Store Marina
Keeps getting better, 2016-10-19
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (366)

Been here for over a year and am happy that Jaret and his team keep on top of replacing boards on the dock. The gas dock attendants are very helpful.
The deli and restaurant (Cass Cay) are upping their game in terms of breakfast offerings.
NEW! A Dollar General just opened outside of the complex. It is just outside of the complex. (About 1 mile by bike or foot).
There are AGLCA Harbor Hosts on site.

Topnotch Operation, 2016-10-18
Captain: , Port Richey (42)

This very recommendable marina is located within a gated community i a nicely landscaped area. The air-conditioned boater facillities are the cleanest I've ever run across, the people in the harbor-master's office and on the docks are very friendly and always offering to lend a hand. The docks are well kept and are well lit at night. The"Cass Cay" restaurant located next to the harbormasters office, is serving exceptional food at reasonable prices. We will be back!

2016-10-17 Update:
Stayed again for 2 nights on the A-deck and found that the positive aspects of my previous review still apply. The restrooms/showers and the pool were clean and well maintained and the Cass Cay restaurant is still excellent.

Outstanding harbor master and dock hands., 2016-06-30
Captain: , McCall, Idaho (10)

I've been here for seven months and getting ready to take off soon. Jarred the harbor master actually likes his job and it shows. If you have a complaint or concern about anything he will listen and fix it. The sailing out of BSM on Charlotte Harbor is wonderful and Cayo Costa is a great place to spend some time on the hook. The only drawback for BSM is it's quite a distance to grocery and hardware stores. But, you will probably find friendly liveaboards that will help you with transportation. Plus there is a bar and a great deli next to it called the Shipstore. Overall a nice clean friendly marina.

Decrepit Docks Need Replacement, 2016-05-08
Captain: , Durango, CO (280)

Update: We returned in 2016 to dock for a month due to a need to travel ashore. We were placed on E dock, which is particularly decrepit, with many pilings rotted to 50% of their original size. One mid-slip piling had recently been knocked over by a docking boat. The creative new owners removed a few of the rotten mid-slip pilings to create catamaran slips, for which they now charge a 50% premium. Dock staff, ever helpful, advised us not to use any of the cleats as they are screwed into rotten wood. E dock, in particular, presents a high risk to yachts and people and should be taken out of service until replaced. This is a good marina which could be a great marina if the docks were replaced by good floating docks.

This marina is sheltered within a gated community. Very well protected. Unusually low aged fixed wooden docks, bathrooms in need of renovation, one rusty pair of laundry machines. Good resturant on site. Nice pool in the resort. The poor part is that it is very remote from town and groceries., with no transport offered. The recommended taxi service refused to come out to bring us to the nearest grocery. Don't come here if provisioning is an objective.

Very Nice Facility, 2016-04-17
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (106)

I spent Thursdy Evening 4/14/16 on the T of G dock where all was easily identified upon my first entrance. I seemed to have plenty of water upon my entrance withnothing less than 7.2 ft. Power was very stable and usable. The staf was VERY friendly and refueling at $2.04 per Gallon was made easy with a 10lbbag of ice!! The out door bar and restaurant was very good!! I will be back there often and with plenty of water at the fueld dock, I will return.

Tricky entrance - unenthusiastic staff, 2016-03-20
Captain: , Grosse Pointe Michigan (51)

The staff says the channel is dredged to 6.5' at low tide, however even when following a chartlet emailed by dockmaster, we saw barely 6.5' in spots even at a high tide (+1.5'). For our 6' draft, that meant having to wait for a high tide to exit and having to make a short hop to anchor off of Boca Grande rather than continuing to Ft. Myers Beach. That would discourage us from visiting again.

Some of the staff seemed unconcerned when I reported low voltage on the dock (too low to use), or channel entrance.

After calling in just before 5PM as we entered the marina, no one stayed the 15 minutes past closing time to help us identify and tie up to our dock.

Be aware of loud, bad kareoke on Tuesday nights. Otherwise the restaurant was a good value.

Wish we could say better things, we have friends living there and it is a very nice area.

Nice location, 2016-03-14
Captain: , Annapolis (2892)

Very nice property and friendly staff. As others have said, it's lacking access to shopping. But for a well protected marina to wait out the weather, this one is great

Definitely Isolated but Nice and Secure, 2016-02-21
Captain: , santa barbara (696)

All other facilities were filled, thus referred us to Burnt Store. Left boat here for a month, no worries. Returned for a second month. Area is very secure and protected, currently ample slip space available. Restraunt is good, facilities clean, harbor master very helpful. Enjoyable dinghy ride throughout the two slip areas. Not convnient for supplies, however Enterprise will pick up, Home Depot, Wal Mart, Publix, are 10-15 minute drive.

Nice but isolated, 2015-12-17
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (828)

This is a very nice complex, with friendly staff and a great restaurant. We stayed for a week. A rental car was a must to leave the compound. There was not enough space within the grounds to get a good workout by bicycle and all other civilization (groceries, restaurants, marine supplies, etc) was either north in Punta Gorda or south in Ft. Myers. Bathrooms, grounds, and pool area were all well maintained.

nice atmosphere , 2015-12-15
Captain: , Hendersonville, TN (40)

Staff very friendly and helpful. Good fuel prices. Reasonable rate for transient docking. Staying for a month over the holiday. Immediately met the Local Harbor Hosts (Pete and Carolyn Beers) who offered their assistance with whatever we need. Nice facilities. Clean, Pet friendly. Plenty of washers and dryers available along with 2 pools. No convenient shopping but I would recommend it as a nice stop

Uncooperative management, 2015-12-04
Captain: , St. John USVI (694)

Vistied Sept 2015, new mangement raised slip rates nearly 30% and told by staff this esulted in 75% of slips emptying. Obviously, mariners are finding more reasonable rates. Last time I was here marina was full. Not flexible on rates. Beautiful facilities, well maintained but not convenient to shopping.

OK for a stop, BUT....., 2015-05-23
Captain: , Miami (73)

We stayed here for 3 nights starting 5/17/15. FLOATING DOCKS! Nice and friendly secure marina, but out of the way for most things. No shopping near by. One restaurant, at the top of the dock. One small Deli that closed early when we were there. The Deli does offer to get marine parts in if needed. Dog friendly. Bathrooms/showers just OK.

Beautiful marina, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Clayton, NY (645)

Very large marina with nice bathrooms and access to a heated pool and spa. We based here and took day trips with firends to Cayo Costa. There is no large grocery store nearby, but there is a deli that sells essentials: milk, eggs, soda, beer, etc and a wonderful breakfast pizza. There is also a good restaurant at the marina. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful.

Not One of the Best, 2015-02-25
Captain: , Stuart FL (508)

Sure, it is sheltered. Cass Cay restaurant (on pier) serves tasty meals at good prices. And the heads seem to be cleaned on a regular (daily?) basis, which is more than many marinas. But the showers / heads are small and dated. Wood piers are warped, mildewed and (where we tied up) soiled with bird filth. Paint worn and peeling. Many pilings in need of replacement. Tired.

A very pleasant stay, 2015-02-03
Captain: , Norwalk (273)

This marina is highly recommendable. The slips are in excellent shape, the facility is clean and pleasant. The restaurant is good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The marina fuel price is the most competitive in the area and dock staff are professional and pleasant.
We enjoyed our stay and will come again, though for a boat with a draft of 6 ft, one barely manages to get through the channel. One should time entering and leaving the channel at high tide.

Burnt Store marina for Christmas, 2014-12-25
Captain: , little current (272)

Burnt Store is the marina associated with a condo/property with 1500 plus or minus households. They operate in two basins; north and south. The North Basin is very quiet and the South basin has the yacht club, service dock, restaurant and service/storage section.
Manatees abound within the marinas. The facilities are all clean and well maintained. There is a small store/deli that prepares some light meals and has beer and wine. You are about 10 miles in either direction from a proper grocery store or I would give it 5 stars

Burnt Store Marina, 2014-12-17
Captain: , Leamington, Ontario (620)

No internet at the boat, washrooms are clean but dated, only 2 showers. Great place to get out of all weather, very protected. Friendly staff! Go out of their way to be of assistance. Large marina, 500 plus slips. A lot of birds....with birds come bird crap and they are hard on mast top instruments.

Beautiful, but isolated..., 2014-12-16
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (356)

This is a beautiful, well protected marina...as you've read in the other reviews. Friendly staff, clean facilities. But, it is in a gated community that is 10 miles from other retail services. I gave it a 4-star for boaters looking for quiet comfort. If you're looking for a party, you might be a little disappointed...

4 1/2 stars. Excellent marina, notably friendly fellow boaters, need car for provisioning, 2014-12-06
Captain: , Park City, Utah (42)

This marina is in a gated community; combination of single family homes, townhouse condos, and high rise condos. Two basins, North and South. We stayed in the North basin. Advantages of the North basin:
- free pumpout at the slip
- far fewer birds roosting on boats; the birds seem to stay more on the South basin boats
- a little more quiet; South basin has a restaurant/bar with music and events. If you're close to it there is a little more noise and traffic.
- the fellow boaters we met in the north basin were extraordinarily friendly and nice! (we did meet some folks from the south basin aswell, who were also extremely nice and friendly)

Pleasant, quiet, marina. Fixed wooden docks in good condition.
Well protected from the weather. Reasonable slip rates. The restaurant had just opened, but service and food was good, and reasonably priced. Two pools, one heated and with hot tub. Showers/toilets: pretty clean, decent condtition (but could use some freshening and a deep cleaning); a little bit of a walk from either basin, probably a little closer from North basin. Laundry is average to a little better than average. Pumpout at fuel dock in South basin. Marina store has a lunch counter that is pretty good, run by some very nice folks. Bike rentals available at marina office. Marina staff was friendly and helpful; their book on availanble local services needs updating.

The only downside to this marina is that it is a 15 - 30 minute drive from most services; ie grocery stores, hardware, marine stores, drug stores etc. Enterprise rental car in Cape Coral (El Prado Blvd location) was kind enough to drop us off after we took a one way rental from the Fort Meyers (RSW) airport.

Wonderful place to visit or to stay., 2014-06-01
Captain: , Venice (208)

My sailing group comes here every year and I think this place is terrific. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The staff, facilities, amenities and restaurant are all first rate. For provisioning try somewhwere else as getting to a grocery will be a challenge.

Future home, 2014-03-21
Captain: , Grand Rivers, KY (250)

We just left and it was one of the hardest decisions I have made in years. It has it all and we are coming back to permanently stay as soon as I have a few things in order. Need a car here as support is a 10 minute drive away, but it is clean, quiet, friendly, and easy access to sailing grounds. Only complaint is the manatees scatting their backs on the bottom and rocking the boat.

Well Worth a Visit, 2014-03-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda. FL (360)

My home port - careful, you may never leave. A lot of liveaboards have swallowed the anchor here. The marina lived up to its promise as a hurricane hole when we had a direct hit from Charlie with only mild damage to a few boats. True, we're isolated from shopping. You'll need a car of you plan to stay long. The marina staff is excellent and are continuously maintaining the extensive wooden dock system (despite the poor economy which has led to many vacant slips). Sadly Marina Inn condos no longer rent by the day. Boaters bath/head: good, laundry: okay. On site restaurant: great bar and atmosphere, visitors say the food is good. Us locals don't like it very much, a series of managers have been unable to improve it. The new Trading Post deli offers very good take out. Very good food is also available to the public at the golf course. Bring your clubs to enjoy the interesting 27 hole executive course. Careful, you might be tempted to buy property here.

Nice stopover, 2014-03-11
Captain: , Nashville (260)

Stopped over on way up ICW (other marinas nearby full this season) - Not far up Charlotte Harbor, only slightly out of the way. Helpful dockmaster, easy approach, very nice facility! Overall feels upscale. Restaurant and bar on premises - decent food; no ready access to groceries or marine supplies beyond the simple. Live music on the patio the night we were there - good entertainment!

Very protected, 2014-02-14
Captain: , Chicago, IL (998)

We visited the marina and facilities by land when shopping for a 'home' marina - fixed wood docks, plenty of open slips, friendly folks. Plenty of parking for vehicles, however, quite a long walk to your boat after you park. Very scenic area of Charlotte Harbor, channel into the marina well-marked. Mention the ad on Craigs List and get one month free on a 12-month lease.

Great Charlotte Harbor marina, 2013-05-04
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

This is our home marina. The docks are wood fixed except for B dock. Excellent dock staff-fueling. pump out, transient/day visitor for lunch or live-a-board. Marina very protected. Harbor is best sailing venue in SW FL. Boaters have access to good biking, walking, fitness center ($10/day) pool. laundry, 27 hole golf course, tennis, 3 deli/restaurants in season. Good venue for cruising groups. Tiki Hut with grills available.
Platinum Point Yacht Club in north basin offers 3 slips for overnite reciprocity Yachting Club of America minimal fee. Active sailing group welcomes new folks. Extremely friendly gated community of 2500 homes. 9 miles from grocery, etc. Pet friendly

All the facillities, but nothing else, 2013-03-06
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1234)

This is a nice marina, but it is essentially a gated community 8 miles from anything. The resteraunt is OK. The laundry is a washer and dryer. The diesal is cheap.

Excellent for food and fuel, 2013-01-31
Captain: , Deltaville, Va. (50)

Fuel prices are usually lowest in the area, so we fuel there routinely, pump out, and have a nice lunch or dinner. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. One of the nicest marina's we've visited.

Burnt Store is just OK, 2013-01-29
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Plenty of help getting landed, restruant on site we went up for some pie after dinner on the boat not too bad. But the out of the way run from the ICW and back Burnt Store is not worth extra the gas.

This place sucks, 2012-12-17
Captain: , Palm Coast FL (20)

Called HM and asked if a 6ft draft sail would have ANY issues gettng in or out. The HM named Peggy told my wife NO PROBLEM!!! Got in and stayed the night, next morning spent 6 hours on the hard waiting for tide to come in. The HM should know what the Marina depth is and should not BS the customer!!!!!

Great Marina, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL. (251)

A full service destination with a great resturant. It is a bit remote from a grocery store. Nice bathrooms/showers and a very helful staff. Stop in, you'll be glad you did.

Loved it here, 2012-07-27
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (195)

Kept my boat here 2006-2010; nice docks, pool, restaurants; well protected; only downside is the long drive to get anywhere, so you need a car.

Great marina with excellent protection and friendly staff, 2012-05-03
Captain: , St. Petersburg, Fl (264)

Burnt Store is a quiet marina half way between Punta Gorda and Ft. Myers, contained within a gated community. It is in a very protected yacht basin with little tidal current. Docks are fixed wood, but the tidal range is about 1.5 feet. Amenities are basic but excellent, including two shower houses and one laundry and pool. It has good full service restruant with a great outdoor dock/deck seating, and a small breakfast and lunch eat in/take out place. There is an excellent fuel dock with easy access, deisel, non-etoh gas, and pumpout. It is outside of town, about 8 miles from a grocery store with no complimentery transportation. There are no real marine services offered other than indoor storage, an authorized outboard motor repair shop, and an excellent boat ramp.

Transient dock in Loud location, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

Transint docks 25 feet from the band, Loud annoying music pm, then you can finally sleep.
The marina is nice, but I prefer quiet. For these prices, and with the music you hear in your boat, that must be a cover charge!
Large livaboard marina with only one washer and dryer
No courtesy car. Isolated.Fixed docks, this is one marina I think is overrated.

Great dock staff, quiet night, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Burnt Store is out-of-the-way, but worth a trip up Charlotte Harbor. We were there on a Monday night, very quiet once dinner patrons left. Some boaters have reported noisy bands, maybe on weekends as this is a very quiet area. Lots of help at pump out and docking. Plenty of grass to walk the dog. Two restaurants on site (Water Cooler is breakfast & luch only but they do have carry out and have liquer) Dock fingers were short, made getting the dog off the boat to the fixed wooden dock tricky. We enjoyed our stay.

Boat Club Frendly, 2012-03-31
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

Went in with 10 boats. Helpful crew with good facilities. Restrurant very slow for large crowd. Music from restrurant annoying.

Off the ICW but Nice, 2012-03-06
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

It is about 10 miles east from the GICW to Burnt Store Marina, but it is a very safe harbor, and a good place to wait out bad weather. You see the 5 nine story condo buildings from miles away, and they have a very well marked channel to enter. It is a large marina with very good services, and a restaurant right at the dock. Bathrooms are clean and close to the transient dock. If you like golf, there is a 27 hole golf course as part of the development. Rates are moderate, and the staff goes way out of their way to be helpful.

good resturant, 2012-02-03
Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

spent just one night friendly quiet and food was good.

Nothing to do., 2012-01-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

We stopped here for a couple of nights. There is nothing to do. There is one restaurant, no shopping and a so so pool.

Promised Land, 2011-09-09
Captain: , St. Petersburg (20)

I made it in on Labor Day after sailing down from Tampa Bay. I wanted to bring my Cal 27 in for a couple of months to check out the cruising grounds. This is a great spot. The marina staff was very helpful with a midwest service attitude. The grounds, pool, bathrooms, everythiing, was very well kept. The restaurant has good food and the cafe has a good breakfast. Good prices on fuel, although I didn't need any.

2 hour sail to Cabbagge key, Cayo Costa, and Boca Grande. Looking forward to a few weekends sailing the area.

Beautiful Pool!

First Class Marina, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

Nice docks and well-trained dock staff. Well protected. Fuel and pump-out on site. Restaurant is good and has entertainment sometimes. Sunday Brunch is excellent. Not convenient to stores or re-provisioning unless you get access to a car. Nice area to walk or bike.

MV Away Again at Burnt Store, 2011-08-15
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Very nice marina. Quality facility and staff. Slips half empty. Good food and relaxing environment. Best diesel price in Charlotte harbor area. Excellent transient slip rates. Nice golf course too!

excellent overall, 2011-05-22
Captain: , New Orleans (651)

We were impressed by the staff, excellent maintenance, clean pool, good restaurant and in-marina coffee shop/ deli. Nice live music some nights. Car rental delivers your car. We visited the Edison/Ford winter homes in Ft. Myers - a great outing. We were visiting relatives on Pine Island and stayed extra days because we enjoyed the spot.

Great marina!, 2011-04-06
Captain: , San Francisco CA (1301)

We spent a night here in late March on their fixed docks. The staff was incredibly helpful, the laundry and shower facilities great, and the restaurant and bar quite good. It was karoke night, which we'd advise missing. The "gourmet" food shop mentioned in cruising guides was actually a deli that serves a great breakfast and where we bought a pound of very fresh shrimp.

Great failities for transients, 2011-01-28

We spent two nights there with a power squadron rendezvous and had a grand time. We had two nights of the rubber chicken circuit, that were truly good meals. No rubber chickens! One of the best dock crews anywhere. Free pumpouts. Highly recommend.

Always enjoy Burnt Store. A very acommodating staff, good restaurant, and a beautiful sunset.

Warm & scenic atmosphere, 2007-02-21
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2310)

I visited in 2004. This marina looked like it was in terrific shape, even after being hit by a hurricane, although the condo's on site were devestated.

The marina is very generously laid out, being spacious both on the water and on the land, leaving a lot of space that is well used to generate a warm and scenic environment. At times that often means a long walk to get between any two places in the facility, but it is beautiful, well organized, and clean.

Resturant service is a little slow, but food tastes great, and drinks from the bar are very reasonably priced.
