Reviews for Buckhorn Yacht Harbour
Good Service and Very Helpful People, 2017-08-14
Captain: , Denver (170)

Pulled in for prop repair and while waiting for the divers we asked for other work. They did everything we asked for in a timely manner. Both prop shop and marina offered to loan us cars to run errands. Excellent service from Peter and John and the entire crew. We would go back for sure anytime we are in the area.

Prop shop is Top notch, 2017-08-13
Captain: , Grass Valley, CA (310)

The shop arranged for divers to remove the prop, and the shop had the prop fixed in 2 days. We have 34" 5 bladed props, and they have a laser guided machine to get the prop back in shape. They did a great job welding, adjusting and returning to us a beautiful polished prop.

Because of our draft, 5.5 in fresh water we had to stay on the gas dock. Did not have power cords long enough to reach the 50amp, and the twin 30amps did not work for us, they may have been on the same circuit.

They have a canvas shop and we had a helm cover made up, nice work.

Doesn't Like Dogs? Not Our Experience , 2017-07-28
Captain: , Richmond Hills, GA (230)

We stayed at Buckhorn Yacht Harbor in July 2015 with our Golden Retriever Midas. The dock master cautioned us to take him to the road at the far end of the property beyond the shops and sheds. No problem.
We stopped briefly on 7/25/17 to have stitching on a side curtain repaired. Several signs on the property state "Pets must be leashed at all times. Please keep them off the lawn."
Connie, who did an excellent repair job, welcomed Midas to her shop and gave him treats. She told us that about half of the resident owners have dogs. The landscaping is lovely, and responsible dog owners will comply with the request to keep their dogs on leash and off the grass.

"The Marina Doesn't Really Like Dogs", 2017-07-14
Captain: , Campbell Creek, NC (454)

We tried to get a slip reservation at Buckhorn Yacht Harbor days in advance. They were booked, we understood they are popular. After a long day of travel on the Trent Severn, we arrived at the lock before Buckhorn. Lock attendants called ahead; we were told there was room for us at Buckhorn, so we kept going. When we arrived at Buckhorn, the boat in front of us took the last spot on the wall available. We had to move on. The dog wanted off the boat for her business and the next lock was an additional couple hour run to Bobcaygeon. We looked for a place to anchor in the lake by Buckhorn lock where there would be shore to take the dog. We found none, just private homes. We called Buckhorn Yacht Harbor, explained our predicament and asked if we anchored, could we bring a dog to shore once tonight and one in the am. Perhaps spend money while there on something. We also double checked they still had no room for us.
I was told by the lady on the phone, "The marina really doesn't like dogs." They spend a lot on money on landscape and facilities and do not like dogs to destroy it. "So, I unfortunately have to say no."
We were forced to move on the Bobcaygeon where Gordon Marina promised they would find space if we came on in to them. We did and they accommodated us!

Nice but expensive, 2016-07-13
Captain: , Hallowell, Maine (240)

Facility was very nice, covered shed, nice baths and decent wifi, a little far from town without a bike, and a bit expensive $90 for 36' compared to other places we have stayed.

Felt like family, 2015-07-23
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

After an unscheduled grounding at Lock 15, we limped to this supurb marina for prop and hull repair. i cannot overemphasize the professionally competent service provided by Mark (an artist of fiberglasss repair), Jamie, who turned our mangled prop into a piece of art in 2 days, and Peter, who oversees it all.

We stayed a week and left with reqrets we had to be on our way.

Great stopover!, 2013-06-29
Captain: , Charleston, SC (422)

We were placed in a covered slip by helpful staff and even more friendly marina residents. Easy access for gas/diesel

Very Friendly People, 2011-08-01
Captain: , Calgary, Alberta, Canada (854)

Covered slips and a great sea wall make this a very protected anchorage for larger boats. The other boaters are extremely frinedly and helpful. This is a full service mairina with 5 mechanics and canvas repair on site. Peter, the owner, will treat you very well.
