Other services

Nice small store in marina office - some food, pet items, ice cream, wine, beer, Costa Sunglasses, jewlery, fishing, and yatching gear. Great hats!

Peace and quiet are in abundance even with many dozens of boaters in harbor. You can hear a pin drop. Visit the Bucks Harbor Yacht Club, very welcoming to visit the facilities, built in 1912; has the first private yacht pennant to transit the Panama Canal and the Cape Cod Canal. Even invited to sit on porch and enjoy the harbor view from their rocking chairs. The outdoor showers and sunset in Buck's harbor are amazing. There is a ships store that sells some foods, wine, beer, books, toys, Costa Sunglasses, jewlery, and yatching gear. There is a grill and lobster cooker for transient mooring rental customers.

Reviews for Buck's Harbor Marina
Don't Miss, 2017-08-21
Captain: , Lake Burton, GA (150)

Probably one of the most scenic places on the coast. Just off the Reach and well protected. I watched the eclipse here. Staff very friendly and very accommodating. They have several GB's for weekly charter and smaller boats for daily. The restaurant is fantastic, limited seating so plan ahead.

Great Marina & Harbor, 2017-07-22
Captain: , Confetti, Kadey Krogen (1719)

Great staff. Very helpful and welcoming. Mooring balls were well maintained Laundry available - one washer and dryer $3 for one full load (washer/dryer). Fantastic outdoor showers. Also one shower inside. Everything was very clean. Absolutely gorgeous area for kayaking or taking your dinghy out. Great place to walk. And wonderful wi-if! Also nice patio set on dock to sit and have drinks or eat!

Excellent Harbor, 2017-06-20
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1011)

John Buck is taking his strategically located small marina from good to great with solid moorings, a pleasant and positive attitude, and good wifi which was accessible from surprisingly far out. And AT&T now works fine without climbing to the top of a nearby hill.

New ownership, possibly better than even, 2016-08-27
Captain: , Camden, Maine (741)

I only spent one night on a rental mooring, but was really impressed with how well managed and tidy the marina seemed. Also, the WiFi Internet connection worked very well, which was a welcome change from the day before in Northeast Harbor.

A friendly marina with excellent services and shelter., 2016-08-15
Captain: , Saint Michaels (320)

This is a family owned marina with excellent services and a great staff - mostly family members I suspect.
They sell live lobsters on site and will lend you a pot to cook them in. This makes for a great meal on the boat.
They sell some things on site. There is a small store an easy walk away. There is also a great restaurant next to the store. Hard to get reservations though.

Some updates, 2016-08-09
Captain: , Fredericksburg, VA (151)

jJust some additional information about Bucks Harbor. New owner and his family just took the place over in July. The showers are clean and work well. The dock staff is great. The restaurant is open 5:30 to 8:00 Monday through Saturday for dinner only. There are limited breakfast and lunch items at the market available for take out. WiFi comes with your mooring fee, and works at your boat. There is a farmers market on Tuesdays from 9:30 to noon. Get there early for the bakery seller. The produce from several sellers looked good.

New owerns/new rates, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Bethel (130)

Bucks Hbr Marine has recently changed hands. It still has lovely outdoor showers, restrooms and laundry fdacilities, and it also has very friendly dockhands to help with lines and finding moorings. It also has a mooring pricing policy that I've not encountered in our far-ranging cruising. Moorings are $30/night, as long as your vessel is 35' or less in length. Beyond 35', you pay $1/foot. The extra few bucks weren't a big deal, but the idea was.

John Buck is the new owner. He was very friendly and helpful. We were able to get a temporary mooring do we could walk up to the Bucks Harbor Market for supplies.

Great Charter Experience, 2016-08-02
Captain: , La Jolla, CA (10)

We chartered "WREN" (GB36) from Buck's Hasrbor Marine in July 2016 a few days after Jon Buck purchased the business. The charter experience was terrific. Wren is a superb example of the iconic GB36s and Jon could not have been more accomodating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Nice, protected spot, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Chebeague Island (479)

A beautiful, well-protected spot. Planned to spend one night and enjoyed two. The water was 70 degrees and a lot of folks were enjoying a swim call. Mooring is $1/foot over 35'. New owners this year. They and their staff were very pleasant and helpful. Small store with ice cream candy, hats, shirts, leashes etc. Outside showers are nice. Laundry. Limited dock space, but adequate. There's a convenience store that serves to-go food, and restaurant just a short walk away. The restaurant seems very popular. Otherwise there are few amenities. Would make it a point to go there again.

Family Day Trip, 2016-07-24
Captain: , Channel Island (10)

We Chartered the Blue Moon for a day trip. Great boat and the staff at Buck's Harbor was awesome. Highly recommend charting here.

Peaceful solitude, 2016-07-20
Captain: , Daniel Island, SC (330)

Under professional, enthusiastic, go-out-of-the-way to please NEW ownership at this idyllic small marina in a spectacular harbor with future expansion plans. No loaner cars, convenient shopping, only one restaurant, but man this is a terrific location and a MUST stop. We're in Maine each summer with 1-2 day stops here at least twice each year.

Quiet! Quiet!, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Edgewood, RI (140)

Perfectly quiet! Stopped here twice; once northbound, once southbound; simple mooring service, nice folks, enjoyed the nearby restaurant and putterering around the island by dinghy. A local boat owner lent his car for a trip to a hardware store without bothering to ask for a name. The Best!

Not sure what the fuss is about, 2015-09-09
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

The good: friendly staff, good baths/showers, good Wi-Fi, very protected harbor.

The not so good: Other than a small market and fancy restaurant that we did not find all that appealing, we fail to see what draws people here. There are plenty of more interesting places to visit.

Outdoor showers, 2015-07-16
Captain: , Yarmouth, ME (192)

Always a good stop before heading to Acadia. Fuel, water and a good staff. Nearby general store has a selection of basics and some local goat cheese. The outdoor showers are something to look forward to!

Charter here!, 2015-06-05
Captain: , Bucks Harbor (10)

This is a great place to get fuel, stay for the night and have a hot shower on shore, or to charter a boat for a whole week!

Friendly and clean, 2014-09-07

Picked up Starbound here. Chris & crew excellent. They keep the marina spotless.

Lovely lovely Harbor, 2014-08-27
Captain: , Northport MI (405)

Great Hurricane Hole; green mooring balls are the Marina's; Exceptionally friendly and helpful dock staff. Visit Yacht Club (1912)- see first pennant to pass through the Panama Canal and Cape Cod Canal on a private yacht; enjoy watching the harbor from their rockers.
Short walk to Bucks Harbor Market.

Jewel of the Bay, 2014-08-12
Captain: , Longmeadow, MA (70)

Not only is the harbor a beautiful and protected spot, the marine, run by Kris and his staff are first rate. We've chartered from them for the last few years and have really enjoyed our trips. The boats are in good shape and its a great set off spot to cruise the Eggemoggin Reach, Penobscott Bay and Acadia Park.

Beautiful scenery and well protected., 2014-08-10
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1244)

Very helpful and considerate staff. Guest mooring painters are free of slime and barnacles with medium sized tall boys for easy pick up. Fuel dock is easy in and out. Overnight dockage available at fuel dock but only at the end of the business day. Power is solid but only 30 amp plugs.

Friendly & Professional, 2013-12-09
Captain: , Palm City FL (164)

Chartered a Duffy 37 from this location in July 2013 prior to purchasing our own Duffy 37 - staff at the marina were very professional and helpful.

New Ownership, 2013-06-30

Serene location, great service under new and very responsive ownership.

Protected spot, 2012-09-27
Captain: , Annapolis (264)

Call ahead to reserve a mooring. The harbor is full of moorings and very protected. There is a good grocery store withing walking distance. The marina has free wifi, 2 showers and 1 washer/dryer.

Cool boats & great scenery, 2012-08-28
Captain: , Newport (404)

This place has it all. Has the feel of yacht club without pretension. Wonderful older sloops and nice trawlers. Very little lobster traffic. Windjammers make regular stops. Good service. Needed a mechanic and had the privilege of meeting Dave Coomer. Can there be anyone better?

Market is good. And fairly priced.

Serene and quiet, 2011-09-08
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1344)

If what you're looking for is a serene and quiet Downeast spot with just enough civilization to buy some groceries, have a nice dinner ashore, or buy ice or lobsters, Bucks Harbor is your place. You'll have to take a mooring (my big boat mooring was $35) or find room to anchor in this crowded harbor along Eggemoggin Reach and manage without cell phone service but there is wifi for those using Bucks Harbor Marine moorings. Best make your dinner reservations a day or two ahead (207-326-8688); the restaurant (behind the general store) is often booked days in advance because it serves delicious and upscale cuisine with prices to match.

Beautiful Harbor, 2011-07-19
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

We were here for two days and enjoyed it very much. Very pretty harbor with a well-stocked marina store and a well-stocked market nearby. Farmers Market on Tuesday morning. Very quiet and peaceful. Several schooners stopped in during our stay. Great to watch them under sail.

A must for Downeast cruisers, 2011-01-31
Captain: , Harpswell, Maine, USA (90)

We have visited every summer for a decade. Jerry and Lois are wonderful people.

Eggemoggin Reach / Peace and Quiet in Abundance, 2010-07-18
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2311)

We came to the area to sail the Eggemoggin Reach to the south. While the sail was exhilerating, being in this harbor was a big highlight as well.

The scenery is terrific, the service and reception at the marina is extremely warm and they manage their moorings effectively.

The place was very quiet, all you could here is nature 95% of the time, and it seemed like all the visitors made efforts to keep it that way. It was so quiet you could here a dinghi engine from a 1/2 mile away, those rare times someone used one. We felt compelled to keep things quiet and just rowed our dinghi over rather than motor.

Friendly, friendly, friendly!, 2008-08-25
Captain: , Charleston, SC (215)

Fuel, water, ice available. Buy your lobsters here on the dock, best prices anywhere in Maine. Very nice family owners. Small market and restaurant within walking distance. One of the nicest places to stop before heading through Eggemoggin Reach. Highly recommended.

Exceptional place, 2008-07-17
Captain: , MV Red Head (61833)

This is my favorite harbor in Maine. Bucks Harbor Marine is a very friendly marina with moorings and great service. Right next to the marina is the Buck's Harbor Yacht Club with an excellent porch to sit and watch the harbor.

Stayed on a mooring again, July 2008, and it's still a great place. Nice little store at the marina. Found two excellent nautical dog collars. Took the dogs swimming around the corner at the boat ramp a couple of blocks away. This is a perfect place to stay for a quiet getaway with real Maine charm.

Bucks Harbor Marine, 2007-11-13
Captain: , New York (153)

Charming friendly people manage a rental mooring field with indoor and outdoor showers, a shop with lobsters and other supplies, including the NY Times. The outdoor showers can be a delight in some weather, even in September.

A short walk to the General Store in town. I have nostalgia. The first time I saw an osprey dive successfully right off my stern was here in 1981 or 2.
