Other price info: A small dock with 3 finger docks on the north side and a T-head at the end. The T-head is easiest to secure to, but has triple dolphin pilings on the outside, making it a long step from the boat to the dock. The north slips have 20 foot long fingers, 24 feet apart, made to fit two small fishing boats, but cruising boats have been successfully secured in them. The first two slips have 15 feet of water. Longer boats may need to Med moor, putting an anchor out to secure the bow and backing into the slips. It is possible to squeeze a larger boat around the south end of the T-head, between the private dock just to the south, and side tie to the dock.

Reviews for Bryant's Landing - City Dock (free dock)
Hard to beat free., 2017-07-09
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Made a recent stop there, town now has a diner, just behind the Kangroo store that opens early for breakfast. Did not get to try it but locals had good things to say of it. Also about 300 yds south, on Sundays only there is a waterfront bar and burger spot that had a good crowd when we passed. Alongside tie and I'm betting they would welcome overnight guests.

Stopped last week, heads at top of hill, bring your own paperwork. We docked our 34 ft PDQ cat in the slip with no problem. Night lights on the dock draw lots of bugs.

Strong current only 1 T dock, 2017-05-05
Captain: , Frostproof Fl (260)

There are about 5 small slips on the floating dock. Our boat is 26 feet and it was hard to tie up as the docks are built for 22 feet boats or less. There is one T end that a 50 footer could dock. Shrimp R Us is about 3 blocks from the dock. Very good grilled shrimp. A half pound shrimp with 2 sides for $11. The resturant at the dock was closed (1May17)

Wish the finger piers were longer, 2017-04-06
Captain: , Jacksonville (61)

We docked out 27 foot sailboat in a finger pier with the bow facing north (into a fairly strong downstream current) using the bow and mid- boat cleats. Ate at the shrimp place and bought ice at the gas station. They are building a small restroom near the dock. Good place to stretch your legs and walk your dog.

Great option to see Oklawaha River, 2017-01-08
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1283)

Stayed 2 nights in early Jan 2017. Can't beat the price, but this is marginal for a large boat (53'). We tied to the T-head and, by the time we had fenders and fender boards to protect from the dolphins, we were a good 2.5' from the dock and quite a challenge to get off and on the boat. Building just south of this dock is supposed to be a restaurant some day and they have added a wood deck and pier that make it difficult to get to the south side of the free city dock if your boat has any size. I did not see any sign reserving the south side for the Auxilliary. We met friendly locals and other boaters stopping for the night. Tried Shrimp R Us and Hawg Wash and preferred the BBQ. No open wifi. Pleasant areas to walk a dog but watch out for grassburs.

Be sure to dinghy or kayak up the Oklawaha River; lots of nature. We were told to look for a cut to return via Bear Creek but the cut had too many fallen trees. We didn't go to Welaka Springs, although it is nearby.

excellent free floating docks, 2016-12-16
Captain: , Spruce Head (582)

Six, 20' finger docks. Excellent if no one is there. Very nice town. Friendly. Good food at Shrimp R Us and More. We were there twice in two weeks and both times Hawg Wash BBQ was closed. People in town were friendly. There is a U S Fish & Wildlife aquarium a short walk away. There are often people fishing from the docks when the current is good.

Free floating docks good condition, 2016-12-11

Free floating docks:)
Nice small town destination.
No electric or water but nice docks:)

It is what it is, 2016-11-11
Captain: , Annapolis (3379)

A small municipal marina for small boats. Free. We put our 38 foot trawler between two of the 20 foot finger piers we were secure for the night. Small village with a couple of decent restaurants. Easy in and easy out. Free but no frills. Carl next door is very friendly.

BBQ Destination, 2016-05-07
Captain: , WELAKA (40)

As a boater I am always looking for places to go and things to do. Welaka has such a destination and the town dock makes it very easy to indulge. Just park your boat at the dock (watch the current, it can be strong) and take a short walk to Hawg Wash BBQ Joint. Be aware that if you are there on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday you will be out of luck as they are only open Thursday through Sunday--and close early on Sunday. Basically, walk south one block from the dock and turn left (east). Go two blocks, through the traffic light on Elm St., and it will on the right, just east of the Kangaroo. BBQ aficionados will have found heaven. The brisket is world class but honestly, everything is good, even the sides. Portions are very ample; it is unlikely you will leave hungry.

I do not have a stake in this place but I do loves me some good BBQ. Good BBQ you can reach by boat is even better.

Great stop and free dock, 2016-05-01
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

We stayed here 4-14-16 through 4-16-16 very nice floating docks but fingers too small for 39 ft boat. We secured to the T-head and it is a good step from the boat to the dock but managable. The park restrooms are clean and a short walk from the boat. A gas station, General Dollar, Shrimp R Us, post office, and Hawg Wash BBQ ( of the best ribs I have eaten), are within a mile or so of the dock.

A big thank you to the City of Walaka!, 2016-02-13
Captain: , Montgomery MN (171)

No services but a free slip on quiet public dock with access to clean restrooms and showers only a short walk away was perfect for us. Great food at the Shrimp R Us restaurant.

Good Free Stop, 2015-07-25
Captain: , North Charleston, SC (752)

We stopped just for lunch and to stretch our legs in May 2015. We used the restrooms, let our puppy run in the fenced in tennis court, and ate outside at Shrimp R Us. Shrimp Us seems to be as much a bar as a restaurant but we didn't challenge the chef and our burrger and salad were just fine and a good change from boat food.

When we returned to the boat there was a small alligator hanging around the docks so we carried the puppy back to the boat. It looks like the locals have been feeding the alligators.

Great stop, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Heber Springs, AR (146)

Shower and bathrooms clean and stocked. Used both. Only restaurat open is Shrimp R Us. Open every day but Monday 7AM to 9 PM. Gas station/grocery still open. Dock i n good condition.

Welaka Town Dock, 2015-04-23
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Floating docks are short so difficult to secure the boat properly. Lot's a small boat wakes. Not much of a town to see. Shrimp R Us is a great restaurant & an easy to walk.

Free Dock, Hot shower and friendly people, 2015-03-12
Captain: , Florida (235)

We docked her for the night and walked up the hill to shower. The bathrooms were clean and shower Hot. We then walked to Shrimp R Us and had a very good meal. There is a Kangaroo convience store three blocks from ramp and makright. You can't miss it. The Shrimp resturant is just about two blocks from that. Peoples seemed very friendly and we were amazed for public bathrooms how clean.

Hard to beat free dock Very quiet and laid back, 2015-03-04
Captain: , Jekyll Island Ga (482)

The docks are short and the South is tight to get in. We pulled in the first North slip and tied off with easy current. Good depths. Locals very friendly. Nothing here. Other than a floating dock that is well lighted at night. Most boats on River slow down but wakes are minimal. The town appears closed up there is a store a few blocks East. Resturant is closed. A Shrimp cafe is a hike. We did not go there. Nice people locals checked on us.

SAFE SECURE DOCK, 2014-04-10
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1633)

I agree with the other posts. We tied to the south side of the dock. It was a little difficult getting my 47' (LOA) in as a float sticks out past the entrance, but we had thge ebb current to push us into the dock. In the AM, we had the flood to push the stern out and then back out. I would not have even tried it without my 2 engines and a bow thruster as it was very tight. We didn't go to the restaurant, but heard from other boaters it was good.

Nice Place, Easy & Worth It., 2014-03-16
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

First, it is labeled with large sign saying "Bryant's Wharf" and the smaller sign saying the Town of Wekala free dock is hard to find. The dock is great, well made and in a good location to explore the town. The space is limited, can take a 40 foot boat at the end and a mid-30 boat on the south and inside. The north side is finger piers for smaller fishing boats. The town is a nice walk and the Cafe at the head of the dock is a great find.

Free dock Welatka, 2014-02-12
Captain: , Camp Lejeune, NC (180)

Spent 3 days waiting out bad weather. Police Chief stopped by and said "stay as long as you would like". Shower and toliet available at top of the hill along with tennis court and playground. Small gas station with store a block away. Dock had a 1 mph current with short finger piers

Good Overnight Stop, 2013-11-06
Captain: , The Villages, FL (368)

Small but well done dock. No elec, but hey ... It's free! Showers & toilets w/in 1block. At Shrimp-R-Us, probably the best Reubin sandwich I've had, and the next morning we had a Great breakfast for $13 (2 people). We'll be back!

The city is great, people are fantastic. We are sad that the museum is closed, the aquarium is well worth the price, Cafe Bleuu is fabulous and colorful owners. They are fun. The mayor came to the docks and spoke with us. Great place. We hope to visit again soon!

Nice stopover for the day and overnight, 2013-01-05
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

Docks floating concrete -5 star
Groceries, none except a gas station convenience store. If you have containers you can get gas or diesel. 2 stars
Things to do, not much, there is a hatchery/aquarium nearby
1 star
Bathroom facilities are up the street by the park. They are clean and neat, but spartan. Very institutional. 3 stars
Environment, nice. 4 stars

In general a nice spot to stop. If you want lunch or dinner you must go to Cafe Bleu. It is right up from the docks and the food is all home cooked from scratch, even the rolls. The food here is 6 star.
My average rating for this stop is 4 stars.

Nice Docks - Good Food, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

We spent 3 nights tied here after tropical storm Beryl blew in. The town is small but has several good restaurants. One right by the dock (open thur - sun). Our favorite was Shrimps R Us.

There was some confusjion about being able to spend the night on the dock. One police officer stopped by on the second day and told us they really didn't want overnight docking (there is nothing on the sign indicating one way or the other). The chief of police came by later in the day and said we were welcome to stay (especially with the nasty weather rolling around). I would strongly suggest calling the town hall (number is on the sign by the dock) just to let them know your intentions.

Apparently there have been some problems with houseboats staying for a week or more. They want the traveling cruisers - just not the locals who perhaps tend to overstay.

Great city dock., 2012-03-11
Captain: , Illinois (2471)

We plan to return to this very clean and scenic village. The people are friendly and 'Shrimps r Us' served a great breakfast. The docks were modern and new.

Bryant's Landing - City Dock (free dock), 2012-03-10
Captain: , Lewisporte, Nl. (619)

We stayed overnight for 2 nights. A police officer came over the second day to ask what our intentions were. He said there is no set limit but they don't want homesteaders. The showers are clean. We enjoyed the live music on Friday night at Shrimps R Us. They also have it on Saturday nights. We found the dirt James E. King recreation trail for bike riding through town. The local fishermen arrive before sunrise in the morning but they are quiet and pleasant. They fish at the dock all day and into the evening.

Nice for a short visit, 2011-11-30
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1659)

We stopped for a couple of hours to have the $2.95 breakfast special at Shrimps-R-Us. Breakfast is good. Docks are only about 20 feet long, so have lines ready to potentially hang out. There are toilets and a basic shower in the town park about a block east.

Great free dock, 2011-03-23
Captain: , Stratford, CT (658)

Safe dockage with good tie up but no electric or water. Bathrooms and showers are a short walk up the hill and are primitive but clean and the water was hot. ShrimpsRus Restaurant is three short blocks away and worth the walk-inexpensive and tasty! Friendly locals fishing on the dock.

What do you want, it's free!!!, 2011-03-22
Captain: , Hertford,NC (180)

Fantastic concrete floating dock. Very short fingers with face dock protected with piles. Walking to limited shopping, but there's food, ice and beverages. No facilities on dock other than to tie up, walk to bath and restrooms. Is lit at night, not too brightly. Very quiet town.

Nice small docks, 2010-11-24
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Agree that a 40 footer would work there, with some effort. Nice new, but smaller docks.
town has fantiasitic wooden boat musem, a few resturants,be sure and visit Shrimps r US, also has a scarry bar, and a quick shop, all walkable. Great trees in town.

Welaka City Docks, 2008-11-21
Captain: , On the water (1501)

We put our 40' trawler in one of the slips, she stuck out 20' but we made it work and had an enjoyable stay!

City Dock, 2008-03-13
Captain: , Jacksonville Florida (125)

This is a free floating dock that will accomidate vessels up to perhaps 30' or dingies. There are no electrical hookups or water but you are allowed to stay here for two days. There's a nice restautrant on the hill right in front of it and another about three blocks south. There's also a really neat wooden boat museum about 3 blocks away plus a convenience store. The museum is really worth seeing.
