Reviews for Brooklin Boat Yard
Just great people, 2014-08-02

Stopped in because we had alternator trouble. The staff was incredible. We got a tour of the facility by one of the project managers and we were given a car to get our alternator to the best guy in Ellsworth. They may not have everything you need, but you will not be treated nicer.

Picturesque Harbor & Excellent Service, 2013-12-09

Steve White and crew at BBY do excellent work - very pleased with their work on Latitude.

Great Boat Yard, 2013-07-25
Captain: , East Boothbay Maine (61)

Had alternator problems shortly after leaving a BBY mooring. Returned to mooring after BBY said they could repair. They removed alternator, sent out for repair, reinstalled in a bit more than 24 hours. Very professional and friendly folks! Highly recommended. BTW, there is now a deli/gormet food shop, "The Cave", at the top of the boatyard driveway that is pretty good.

Quiet, restful spot. Great finds, 2012-07-31

A nicely protected mooring, @ $25/ night. No amenities., but a terrific shop, left, at the top of the hill "the Cave". Fresh baked goods, roasted & ground coffee, cheeses, wine, chocolates. Beautiful Library, 100 years old, within 1/4 mile walk, accross from the General Store. Would stop again.

In July 2011, we arrived on Sunday when no one was at the boatyard to ask about a mooring. We asked a gentleman at the dock and he offered us his mooring as his boat was spending the night at the dock. Monday morning we asked a boatyard employee and he said any mooring that did not say "reserved" can be picked up when no one is there to ask.

We rented a mooring form Brooklin Boat Yard - nice people. Wifi, dingy dock but no other "amenities". We happened here on a Thursday and there was a nice Farmer's Market in Brooklin.

Just up the hill at the end of the block to the left is "the Cave" Wine, cheeses, chocolate and fresh roasted coffee to die for!

Mooring was $25.00 (Aug 2011)

Not a Marina, but a wonderful boat yard, 2010-10-13

It is a misnomer to think of BBY as a marina. It is a world-class builder of wooden boats with a sizeable storage, maintenance and repair business as well. The owners have always been generous to the community and visiting cruisers and have become the heart and soul of this lovely small harbor. The harbor overflows with their lovely craft in the summer so you may have to anchor in the mouth of the harbor, which is still reasonably well protected. There is probably no breakdown your boat could have which BBY cannot fix.

Everything said about the food at the Brooklin Inn is true as well. If you are feeling like a less formal setting than the dining room, The pub in the basement is the place to go. And if you need a shower or a night ashore, they can help with that, too.

Guest moorings with dingy dock. Brooklin Inn will pick you up for a great dinner.

Located at entrance to harbor, have 2 guest moorings ("CHYC")

Not a marina, but a nice stop, 2007-07-23
Captain: , Camden, Maine (741)

BBY is a service yard and custom boat builder. There's no showers, etc. but they permit dinghy tie up, rent moorings when available, and are nice about letting visitors see the lovely boats they build. A short walk away is Brooklin village where you'll find a general store, the Morning Moon Cafe, lots of little galleries, and the must-eat-here Brooklin Inn.
