Reviews for Britannia Yachting Center
Nice visit, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Norwalk CT 06854 (10)

Very nice stay at the marina, nice friendly staff, enjoyable and refreshing pool.
Great food and drinks at the whale tail and purple elephant.

rip off - don't bother, 2016-07-20
Captain: , New York (88)

Incompentent management, no rigger... cathers to power boats... Sub par mechanics. No rigger. Friendly staff. Yamnaha dealer on site is off the wall. Marine Store is excellent.

Great Place to Stay or Visit., 2015-09-30
Captain: , Northport, NY, U.S. (10)

Everything you need except laundry. Go to village for that. Northport is beautiful and family oriented. If you have more than 3.6 ft draft, be careful at low tide.

Superb Facilities and Staff, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Albany, NY (100)

We stopped here for the night on the recommendation of a colleague who said Northport was worth the trip. Man was he right. We only wished we had more time there. The marina is terrific, with a beautiful pool on the water, nice ship's store, and two restaurants on site including one with a raw bar. About 1/2 mile walk to town. Staff was so helpful. Northport is a beautiful quintessential New England town - well worth the stop.

Nice, quiet marina. Super friendly., 2013-09-22
Captain: , New York (10)

Had never been to Northport before, and have to say, the approach to this marina looks a lot scarier on the charts than it actually was. A series of private buoys clearly marks the channel, and getting in was a piece of cake. Still, I would avoid coming in at low tide in a boat with a deeper keel. The dock hands couldn't have been more friendly, helping us into the slip and even loaning us a much-needed 30a power cable overnight. The facilities are quite good, with a few stores and restaurants right in the marina. Anything else can be found in town, which is an easy walk from the marina and is also full of great restaurants, bars and boutiques.

Nice place!, 2013-06-02
Captain: , Branford ,CT (180)

Very helpfully staff, responded very quickly on VHF when hailed and gave us a slip assignment quickly! Nice docks ,deli and store and The Whales Tail was good for lunch!!,

Well Protected Marina, 2013-01-13
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

This is a very nice marina, but slightly expensive. The staff is very friendly. There is a very well stocked ships store on premises, if they don't have the part you need they will get it in 48 hours.

Britannia to the Rescue, 2012-07-13
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (335)

We had problems getting our forestay connected properly, because one it is below deck in the anchor well, and two becase the roller furler has to be connected at the same time. Curt and John at Britannia made it happen. It took two hours and numerous tries, but they got the job done and we were once again a sailboat. It was a tough rigging job, that took considerable skill to accomplish. I would recommend these people anytime. The marina has very nice floating docks, and is very protected. They have an on-site restaurant and bar. In the same complex is a really fine bait and tackle shop for all you who love to fish. The Town of Northport is great with lots of shops, restarants, a deli, a harware store, great bakery, and a laundromat. It's a good walk to downtown, but worth it. In the Summer Northport sponsors all kinds of events which even include closing off Main Street to traffic for arts, music, and food. Every Saturday morning there is a Farmer's market down by the harbor. All of this is well worth a stop for a while.

Good for transient stay, 2012-07-09
Captain: , Setauket (20)

Stayed overnight in a slip. Very friendly and helpful staff on the docks. Approach is tight at low tide but the channel is well marked. Large boats should avoid leaving or entering at dead low tide.
Decent walk into town but very pleasant. The town has a large number of restaurants that are geared towards the middle aged and older crowd. A very pleasant little town, largely intact from the 1950's and earlier. Would visit again.
The whole food restaurant located in mini-mall adjacent to the marina is quite good.

Great overnight stop, secure and sheltered, 2012-01-04
Captain: , Riverview Marine Services Inc. Catskill, NY (142)

We stopped here on an overnight fishing trip, friendly staff, very sheltered location, fishing tackle, dive shop. deli, and a few other shops are next door, upscale area. convienent fuel dock. Nice

Wonderful Marina!, 2011-10-31
Captain: , Newport, R.I. (644)

Flat, still waters while we had our first winter storm of the year! Staff excellent, we stayed 3 nights waiting out the storm.

Dancing w/ Irene, 2011-09-02
Captain: , Grasonville, Md (252)

We were anchored in Northport Harbor when Irene entered our lives and the 100 M people on the east coast. Because we were a long way from home, (we live in Maryland and were cruising LIS for the summer), we decided to haul our boat and contacted Britanica Marine for this service. No Problems. We called on Thursday, were hauled on Friday and were launched on Wednesday. We called and e-mailed on Monday for their status; No answer because they were out of power. At 0820 hours on Tuesady the service manager (Kurt), called and updated us on their status. He called again at 0900 hours on Wednesday, ti verufy our schedule; we arrived at 1230 hours, and the boat was launched at 1245 hours. The entire staff was very professional, and courteous. In all they hauled 24 boats, and accepted 67 boats at their floating docks. This marina looks like a very good hurricane safety location. I would use them again.

Great Diesel Mechanic Here, 2011-07-01
Captain: , New York Harbor (495)

Came here on the recommendation of a trusted friend,
Jay the mechanic here knows his stuff and is a good guy.
Also the marina is attractive andwell run with a marine store, dive shop fishing shop and deli.

Northport's Only Dock N Dine, 2011-06-08
Captain: , Northport (20)

Britannia now boasts a deli, bait shop, marine store and a restaurant called The Whale's Tale. They have live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and a beautiful view overlooking the pool and marina. Dress is casual and the bar is always hopping. The food is inexpensive and quite good- do not miss the Killer Whale Fries!

Winter haven, 2009-07-22
Captain: , Oyster Bay, NY (74)

I keep my boat in water for the winter and have stayed for two summers in the past. The approach is rough given the low water of around 5' but overall the marina is well protected. Depending on who is on duty the level of assistance varies.

Good place to hide but if you are looking for a quite spot rather drop a hook in Northport harbor.

Nice place, 2008-05-04
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (232)

I stayed there in 2006. The staff was nice (I ran aground right near the dock, remember to stay close to the docks). The grounds are well maintained and clean. The pool is excellent. The small cafe is fine too. The walk to town is a little on the long side.
