Reviews for Bridge Pointe Marina
Super marina with a great staff !, 2017-05-30
Captain: , South Padre Island, Texas (30)

Nice floating docks, clean and attractive clubhouse & showers. A short walk over-the-bridge to the pleasant and friendly downtown of New Bern. Harbormaster, Jesse Schmucker, is the icing-on-the-cake: a true professional- friendly-amiable-and always willing to help! Do yourself a favor and venture a bit up river for a delightful experience in small town North Carolina.

Super solid pilings & docks, 2017-05-05
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7375)

Stayed several nights May 2017. Got hit with high winds and heavy rain early morning, docks very solid even with some waves coming in from the Neuse River. Super clean boater's lounge, restrooms, showers. Good dog walking area. Few Transients here, mostly long-term rentals. New Bern downtown just across bridge, easy walk or use Uber.

Great Marina with friendly staff, 2016-10-19
Captain: , Lake Texoma (81)

We loved our month at the marina, great people everywhere, even had mail deliver to our boat - talk about a pleasant surprise!
The only things needing work are WI at the dock is weak and our 6 1/2 ft draft made it tricky to get a pump out, we had to wait for a day when the water was high. Easy walk to New Bern and it's great restaurants . Would recommend this marina without reservation

Spent what turned out to be a year here. Great floating slips, clubhouse, showers, short walk to cute town. Above all, the best dockmaster between Bahamas and Maine. Jesse will go out of his way to help. Quite apart from the other two marinas in town, there's a community here with Saturday night potlucks, etc.

Great Stop in a Great Town!, 2016-08-31
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (51)

Stayed here three months during the summer and enjoyed it. The floating docks are in great shape and facilities are well maintained. Dockmaster Jesse is awesome. He and the entire staff go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. A short walk over the bridge brings you to historic downtown New Bern with many good restaurants and shops. We will stay here again!

Would visit again!, 2016-08-23
Captain: , Tracys Landing, MD (266)

Spent two nights here before heading down the ICW. Stayed on a catamaran at the end of the T-dock. Even though boats were going by, we didn't feel any rocking or rolling at all. Most of their wake disapated by the time it reached the marina. The "captain's lounge" had good showers and a nice place to relax on land. One thing to note, and it's not the marina's fault, the bridge horn goes off early in the morning! So don't be scared!

Best Marina in Historic New Bern, NC, 2016-04-13
Captain: , San Juan Capistrano, CA (20)

We spent a winter in New Bern, NC about 20 years ago at the, then, Hilton Marina. It was a great stay. This past summer we returned to New Bern intending to spend huricane season at the marina. We spent one night there and decided that things were not the same and we needed to find somewhere else. A short walk across the bridge took us to BridgePointe Marina, where we met several of the guests there having a morning coffee in the cruisers lounge. Their enthuastic welcome and praise for the marina encouraged us to relocate. We were not disappointed. We stayed for 7 months. Jesse and his staff go out of their way to help you. The marina is immaculate. The cruisers lounge is comfortable and bright. Great value for money. New Bern is a charming, historic town. Good restaurants, hardware store, social activities and vibrant community theater. All within easy walking of the marina. Good selection of other stores and services, including West Marine, but you need transportation to reach them.

The Best in the Bern!, 2016-03-23
Captain: , Deep Ellum (101)

My husband and I have been living aboard at Bridge Pointe Marina since August, 2015. This is the best marina in the area by far. Floating docks, cable tv that can be parlayed into excellent wifi for a small extra fee, pump out dock, good bathrooms and showers, good laundry, and within walking distance or biking of New Bern historic district. Jesse and his crew are professional and run a wonderful facility. Packages and letters are delivered to your boat most days and they will bend over backwards to help you in any way. Can't find much better than this....especially for the price.

Great Facility!, 2015-09-14
Captain: , New Bern, NC (10)

We lived aboard across the river at the New Bern Grand Marina for 3 1/2 years and moved the Bridge Point in June of 2015 because of many issues including security concerns and loss of ammenities that were part of the deal when we got there in 2011. Jesse and his crew are wonderful! They go the extra mile every day. As far as the review that complains about mail....not true in fact sometimes Jesse or one of his crew will actually delivied it to the boat! The WIFI is sketchy but now they offer Sudden Link direct connect (for a small monthly fee). There is a sense of community here that didn't exist at the Grand Marina. We couldn't be happier!

Great Place - Very Reasonable Rates, 2015-07-21
Captain: , League City, TX (173)

We moved from New Bern Grand because it was such a disappointment. Bridge Pointe, while further from the downtown area (a 15 minute walk) is a much nicer facility with good amenities. The only thing lacking is a gym. While there is no wifi on the docks yet there is great access in the beautiful Captain's lounge. The bath/showers are immaculate and they have an adequate laundry facility. The docks are new, the dockmaster and his assistant are great and go out of their way to be helpful. All things considered, I'd say this is the nicest place in the New Bern area

Great everything except no 240VAC power, 2015-06-26
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (605)

This is a marina I suggest to others when in this area as long as the boat does not require 240VAC power. They do have 208VAC power which at the end of the dock is usually only 206 VAC however when the air con units on the boat are running the power dips down to 201 to 200VAC and tend to shut down due to low power. The staff is great and location and price can not be beat, just be aware if you require 240VAC power. To be fair they do not list their power as 240VAC either and this is the purpose for this review.

Great View, 2015-03-27
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

Great option as a jumping off point, especially if you have additional traveling guests with the hotel immediately adjacent and ample parking. Short walk across the bridge to beautiful downtown New Bern.

Great Place for a Great Price, 2015-01-23
Captain: , Port Lavaca, TX (120)

We're overwintering at Bridge Pointe and have been mostly very satisfied. The docks are in great shape. The dayroom is large and sunny with 2 clean bathrooms and two clean showers. The staff are friendly and helpful and the liveaboard community is welcoming with potlucks every Sunday. We also think the idea of designating the pumpout dock as a work area is great. Maintenance requires occasional messes.

We have only two suggestions for the management and for the consideration of other potential vsitiors.

Firstly, the internet service at the marina is truly lacking. We've never been able to receive wifi in our slip, which isn't such a big deal, but we often can't even receive wifi in the dayroom. The signal is often good in the morning and abysmal in the evening which leads us to suspect it may be due to throttling by the adjoining hotel. Sometimes I can get a stronger wifi signal from New Bern Grand Marina across the river than I can from our marina! Most of the liveaboards have expressed a willingingness to pay a little extra for a better connection, so I'm not sure where in the chain of management the resistance to a good connection lies.

Secondly, liveaboards are not allowed to receive letters (though they are allowed to receive packages.) PO boxes require a separate physical address. The UPS store is the only option for full time liveaboards and it is 5+ mi from the marina on an unbicycleable road. A few slots for boater's mail would make life a lot easier for boaters at a very small expense to the marina.

We are still pleased with our experience overall. I mention these criticisms as the cost of rectifying both these issues seems disproportionately small to the huge improvement in the quality of the marina in the eyes of boaters.

A Real Bargain, 2014-12-15
Captain: , Pungoteague, VA (227)

Brand new floating docks, a courteous, professional dockmaster, and a great rate. We'll be staying here twice a year.

Thanks, Jesse!

Easy access into town, but much lower rates. Staff is excellent. Docks are immaculate. They clean the spiders off every day. Good Washer Dryer. Outback Steak House on site.

Great Stay!, 2014-10-28
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (10)

We stayed at Bridgepointe years ago before Irene, much better now, good management from Gary at the hotel and a professional dockmaster, Jesse Shumacher, who makes your stay his priority.
This is a very improved marina, in a great town.

Perfect in almost every way, 2014-10-25
Captain: , Bayfield, WI and the ICW (1400)

Perfect docks, restrooms, lounge, wifi, protection, dockmaster, etc. If only we didn't have to walk ten minutes to the perfect town we would give it a ten

A great place, 2014-09-25
Captain: , Miami (58)

This is an excellent new facility with new docks, showers, lounge along with a very friendly and helpful staff. Since we were planning to stay in New Bern for a month, we checked the prices in the area and found this marina to be well within our budget. The location "across the bridge" was not a problem since it was just a nice walk into town. We want to thank Jesse for making this a wonderful stop for us. The Sunday evening BBQ was just an added bonus.

Nice - Least Expensive Place in Town, 2014-06-29
Captain: , Fort Myers Florida (190)

We had a car available, so the "across the bridge" location was not a problem for us. Sunday cruisers parties were a nice plus, not often found in US marinas.

great stop close to Town and Airport, 2014-06-05
Captain: , Buzzards Bay (391)

Everything is new. stayed for four nights at a $1.00 a foot with everything included, (slip, Pump out, electric and a RIDE to the Airport). plus a long term slip holders offered his car for a run to the food store / West marine. local West Marine is small with low inventory But will have what you need the next day. Jesse and Paul will do what it takes to keep you happy. Jessy recommended Bill Zobel to work repair a smelly situation in one of the heads, all done the next AM and at a very reasonable cost.

First Class Marina, 2014-05-23
Captain: , Anchorage (30)

Decided to try out BridgePointe Marina while headed South this year. Arrived the day after their Grand Opening late Oct. All brand new docks, crew facilities, and even outdoor patio furniture with BBQ's! The easy small New Bern airport perfect for travel to visit our family. Jesse, the dockmaster, and Paul, his assistant, were both more than accomodating! We had such a pleasant experience we decided to stop again on our way North for a month. This time we also were able to relax and enjoy their very clean pool. The quaint town of New Bern is fun to visit and also convenient for using USPS, restaurants, etc. We will definitely be stopping here again on our way South in the Fall!!

Great rebuilt marina, 2014-05-21
Captain: , Charleston, SC (30)

Very courteous and customer oriented dockmaster Jesse, he will catch your lines! Facilities clean and new. Leaving on 5/25/14 after a month here. Friendly and helpful as well.

An undiscovered gem!, 2014-05-14
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (20)

Immaculate docks & amenities, easy walk to charming downtown New Bern. Jesse, the marina manager, could not do enough for us...drove us to the airport to pick up rental car!

Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

We stopped here for a 2 night stay which we won at the MTOA rendezvous. While it is 25 miles off the ICW it was worth the trip. The marina is brand new and everything is first class including the staff. The city of New Bern was also a surprise. Many good restaurants, lots of history, and several gift shops. Definitely worth a couple of days break off the ICW.

Nearby Airport is very helpful, 2013-12-23
Captain: , Boston, MA (20)

I had to make an unscheduled trip North. The few hours motoring up the Neuse River was well worth it. The Airport is aabout a mile away I could have walked there if I had to but Jessie the dockmaster who is friendly and helpful had no problem giving me a quick ride. Amtrak has a bus on the other side of the bridge which will take you to rail links. Excellent docks, with new amenities being added and improved every day.
New Bern is a nice little city the downtown is interesting and an easy walk. Mitchels hardware store has supplies and a rental car will get you quickly to almost anything else you need, there is also a West Marine a few miles away.

Great Marina, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Portsmouth RI (275)

After close to 3 years at the New Bern Grand Marina, there is finally another choice of another marina in protected waters close to downtown New Bern. We have left the NBGM (See my NBGM review) and moved to BridgePointe.
We spent over 3 hours interviewing Jessie and Paul the dockmasters, and Gary the Hotel Manager.
Both Jessie and Paul have marina management experience and it clearly shows. Gary was helpful and appreciated our comments and input.
In general we got the feeling that the staff care, will listen and will do their best to help.
Their rules show that they want a quality marina and will not tolerate dangerous or derelict looking boats.

Pretty unique is a work dock which boaters can use for boat projects so that they don't disturb other boaters. This dock is close to the parking lot, so easy access and it has electricity.

The bathrooms and lounge are new and impressive. There is a large flat screen TV. Good laundry facilities, free ice, internet and an ugrade of the present cable to 50 channel cable TV coming later this year. Price is $6.50/ft/mo plus pedestal charge.

The space between the docks is enormous, no problems in docking.
Floating docks with cable, power and water. Gary told me that from later this year, residents can if they choose, to arrange their own personal high speed Internet via their dock cable connection. WiFi internet is already supplied.

There is video monitoring and rounds by the 24 hour hotel porters.

Location is not downtown but it is a short walk over the bridge to downtown. Its about the same distance to the Galley store as it is from the NBGM.

I believe they are planning on loaner bicycles.

I will update the review after we have been there for a while.

Very Nice Rebuilt Marina, 2013-10-22
Captain: , Quoset Daviseville Naval Yacht Club (250)

Watch water on Neuse River above the ferrry crossing area. Stay within channel - outside channel my GPS and Charts showed 12 feet but my depth sounder showed only 6. In channel not a problem and watch markers carefully - channel turns in unusual way as you enter New Bern. With care not a problem just caution is the word.

Easy entrance to marina, bridge opens on demand, rates are very good, paid $150 wk plus $25 for electric. Bathrooms and laundry not open yet but they expect they will be any day. Floating docks, good electric and water, and everything well done. No fuel or pump out.

Outback Steak Restaurant adjacent to marina and hotel.

Nice and helpful staff, Paul is dockmaster twice a week and he was very helpful. They have 24 hour security with camera's to monitor marina. Although I do not believe security is a big issue in this area.

Marina is on opposite side of historic area but a short walk or easy bike ride over the bridge on a nice walk way. Several inexpensive shuttles will come and take you anywhere you want. Beautiful little city with lots of shops, several museums to visit, little parks, and beautiful buildings. A must stop if you like history, make sure you visit Mitchelle's Hardware Store, a trip back in time.

Wireless internet is excellent, easy access to airport and car rental.

Reopended, beautiful renovation, 2013-10-16
Captain: , Shorewood WI (244)

With the exception of a few minor items the marina has reopened. It is much nicer than its previous iteration - destroyed in Hurricane Irene. Rates are very competitive $1.50 per foot per night, $6.50 per foot per month with a small pedestal charge.

There is also a nice bar in the hotel. Each of us has our preferences and I would avoid both Captain Rattys (food and service very spotty, I have had great and terrible) and Chelesa - in my opinion overpriced. New Bern is not the cullinary captial of the world but the local resturants do a decent job.

Grand Re-opening, 2013-08-16
Captain: , Saint Augustine (180)

We stayed at the Bridgepointe Hotel and Marina last week and the marina construction is nearing completion. They are doing a fanastic job and hope to open by the end of August. The hotel staff are the most courtesy and helpful of any we have met both on land and water. You can't beat their rates. Rooms are clean and location is safe. If you are staying take a walk across the bridge and try out Captain Ratty's or Chelsea's. They are grrrreat eating establishments. Reasonably priced, good quantit of food, and fast service.

Our new home, 2012-01-20
Captain: , New Bern, NC (466)

We picked Bridge Pointe Marina for our new home because of the price and because it is close to home. We will continue to stay because it is such a nice place. Last year a storm took out some of the docks, but repairs are underway. Captain's lounge is small but nice and the showers (2) are clean. Docks are in pretty good shape and the gym and pool at the hotel are included in the dock fee. After paying close t a grand a month in California for a slip. the under $300 a month seems like heaven. There is a steak house right next door and I understand tha it is a short walk over the bridge to down town.

My boat MOONSHINE lives here, 2011-03-10
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1422)

The bridge work is finished so the town of New Bern is in walking distance again. This is a fine place to stay, as proved by the many live-aboards that do. Much queiter than across the Trent at the New Bern Grand Marina. A kind of family place with kids and dogs and an easy ambience.

Nice place, 2009-05-19
Captain: , Fort Myers (769)

Stayed there for two months. Floating docks are in great shape. Easy in and out. Very nice people there. Facilities are clean and updated. The bridge over to New Bern in under construction until late 09 so you cannot get there without wheels. One restaurant (Outback) next door. Courtesy car is available.

Very happy with staying here..., 2007-02-21
Captain: , MV Red Head (61833)

We kept our boat here for 4 months (11/06-2/07). The facilities are very well kept. There is great shopping in the vicinity including many restaurants, etc. West Marine is just a couple of miles away with a Wal-Mart, Lowes, Target, all a couple of exits from here. Kim, the dockmaster, does an excellent job.

We've also stayed across the river at the Sheraton. Bridge Pointe is quieter and has way fewer pedistrians just walking around the docks. I think it's a better place to spend the winter if you have a car here.
