Reviews for Brewer Yacht Yard at Glen Cove
Nice & Friendly, 2017-06-13
Captain: , Phoenix, AZ (379)

Nice young dock crew, very helpful. Docks are solid but aging, not every slip has cleats, but has posts instead. Back part of the basin is silted in - our 6' draft was in the mud (but we got out anyway). Facilites are nice & clean, excellent "Cove" restaurant just to the East.

Management response:
Thank you for your comments.

If draft is an issue, please make a request to dock at the west side of the Marina for future stays.

Great disappointment, 2015-10-07
Captain: , Boonton (75)

We spent 4 of July at the docks.
The Crew did not have enough info about the area and the Fireworks.
The marina is very close to the sewer treatment plant and the wind and hot temperature brought fleas and bugs.
The town is not in a walking distance so we left early in the morning with no plans to come back.

A Disapointment , 2015-08-07
Captain: , Cape Cod, MA (179)

I base my reviews on two major factors: the quality of the marina facilities (docks, showers, amenities, courtesy, etc.) and the environment (ambiance, walkable resources, etc.). On the first metric, Brewers is 4 stars - friendly, competent staff, quality docks, good ships store, pool, travel lift if needed, showers clean but not a/c. On the second it's close to zero. A very industrial (but uninteresting) setting. On site restaurant a mixed bag (my lunch of a fried shrimp sandwich was good, my wife's of an open-face Reuben was terrible), only other resource within walking distance is another restaurant which looks ok but we didn't try. The next facility down the road is a sewage treatment plant (only a scenic problem). To be fair, we arrived late morning and spent the whole day, so ambiance was a big downer. Arrive late in the day, take a taxi to the Cedar Creek Grill for a nice dinner (taxi $10 including tip), and don't look around.

Can't go wrong with a Brewer Yard, 2015-06-25

Nice spot. Easy docking and very clean showers. Nice one day stop.

Have been Brewers Customer for more than 20 years. Brewers GC is now my home marina. Mark Friel, Gen Mgr, manages this very large, complex facility so that it works like a well oiled machine! There is a spirit of teamwork among the Techs and Staff that makes this a great place to keep your boat. Brewer Marinas get top dollar for their work; however, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR here and if ever anything is "wrong" Mark is sure to make it right and treat every customer fairly!

Service Staff Great, Dockmaster Horrible, 2014-12-02
Captain: , San Francisco (10)

Great yard/marina for: engine service, supplies, and rigging. The full time staff knows the marine trades proficiently. The "dockmaster" was awful on the other hand...There was incorrect communication on slip assignments, and Brittany made us feel unwelcome. I observed Brittany the "dockmaster" belittle the dockstaff. Time for the boss to hire someone else! Best to call on the land line before coming into this port....

Quiet Layover, 2014-09-01
Captain: , Rochester, NY (200)

Perfect for a stopover between Liberty Landing and LI Sound. Nice restaurant on site, nice pool, decent restroom and showers. Bit of a walk to town. Nice docks and super friendly staff. Full service yard.

Nice facility, 2013-06-07
Captain: , New York, NY (470)

Spent one night here. Dock hand was helpful, guided me into slip and was there to handle lines. No ice--ice machine broken. Good showers. Nice docks. Asked if there was any restaurants around, dock hand said just the one on site. Food so so, service lousy, but it was better than starving. Although the place is nice, seems a bit short on charm.

Great Staff, 2013-06-07
Captain: , New Bedford (10)

Great place! Everything you would expect from Brewers and more! We stayed here for two nights while making our way east from NYC. The staff was very helpful and cater to all my needs. Brian, in the ships store can get you any part or marine supply you need. If it isnt in stock he can special order it for next day. Great full service area with all the trimmings. Lovely shops and reasturants in the nearby town of seacliff. On site reasturant was a delight but a bit pricey. Can't wait to return on our trip home!

Awesome Service, 2013-01-13
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

The first time we stayed here, we had just bought our boat a week before. The staff was friendly and professional. I ended up having to spend 10 hours in the Emergency Room. The staff came down and regularly checked on my wife, who did not know the systems of the boat and brought treats for our dogs. The marina is well run, clean, greta laundry, showers and pool. One of the staff even lent us his car to get to a store. We have stayed there a few times since then as a layover when transiting east/west. I have a firnd who has had a slip there for years and loves it.

Easy in, Easy Out, 2012-11-06
Captain: , Pilots Point (466)

Made this a first stop after heading East from Chelsea Piers Marina in NYC. Easy acess, great shower facilities, lovely nearby town. all in all, a very nice stop.

So-So at best, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Sea Cliff, NY (1075)

Made a 1-night reservation for a Monday. Upon arrival no one would answer the VHF. Tried calling by phone, and no one at the dock would pick up. Finally just pulled up close to the fuel dock and caught someones attention. They tried to put us in two different spots, both totally unsuitable for our boat. Finally they put us in a slip with plenty of room. Showers are fine, and the small town of Sea Cliff is a delight (easy, though uphill, walk).
Just had the feeling that we were more of a bother to them than a welcome visitor. Certainly not what we expected from a Brewer yard.

Update. 8/3/12, 2012-08-03
Captain: , Glen Cove, NY (108)

Since purchase of marina next door improvements have begun. On-site restaurant is very good, although the location in the parking lot is not picturesque. Kayak and stand up board rentals available. Mgr. Mark Friel is very accommodating.

Modern and Picturesque Setting, 2012-06-05
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

We pulled into Glen Cove to get out of the weather on the sound and were pleasantly surprised. Brewers Glen Cove location is neat, modern and friendly. The repair facilities are extensive and we'll keep this place in mind if we have need. The floating docks and hookups are updated and they have the best water pressure I've experienced. Free Wifi services are frustrating with difficult access via "beacon" and slow response. If you're in need of supplies, best to arrange a shuttle or taxi but there is a very good grocery store a couple of miles away. We will likely come back on our return trip in the fall.

Great short haul facility, 2011-12-31
Captain: , Huntington (465)

I have Brewers short haul my 55 foot Ocean Alexander every other year (almost 10 years now). Mark does a great job with his crew making sure the project is appropriately managed. This is a very professional yard with fiberglas and woodworking capability. They do not have a temperature controlled paint shed. Facility is relatively new and friendly staff. Highly recommend Brewers. For a major refit project I had to go to Derecktor in Mamaronek.

First class docks and service, 2010-02-02

Typical great Brewer service (with commensurate pricing!)-nice docks and an on-site eatery for lunch.
