Reviews for Brewer Yacht Haven Marina
Not Much Here, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Portland, ME (200)

Just another one day stop over, but besides an excellent run marina, there is not much else around. Bathrooms and showers were clean, dockhands excellent and there was a beer garden with food truck a very short walk away, but that was it. Anything else was a taxi ride away, even an ATM.

Four stars because of inconvenient location to anything.

Nice amenities, and a long walk to the land head, 2016-05-05
Captain: , The World (30)

Lovely grounds, everything well kept and attractive. Floating picnic areas with LPG grills. Coin laundry, but be sure to bring your quarters; there's no place anywhere near by to get change. Long walk from the transient dock to the bath house, which is fine unless you came in on the edge of a Nor'easter like we did. Staff is very helpful. About a mile walk to a grocery store and other shopping.

Friendly, well run marina, 2015-06-26

This is my home port in the north. There is a WM and some food less than 2 miles down the road. The docks are modern and very stable. The bath rooms and showers are clean but a bit of a walk. It's a great jump off point for a trip to Block Island or thru Hell Gate down to NY harbor. Long Island Sound is a wonderful place to sail and I can ping pong between three different states on a day sail. The staff is always awesome and you can sail from one Brewers to another if shore power is your thing. I'm always happy to stay at a Brewers yard.

Good Docks - NO Services, 2014-01-06
Captain: , Palm City FL (134)

Stopped October 2013 on our voyage from Maine to Florida. Staff and docks are excellent BUT don't plan on any shore side activities.

No nearby resturants or supplies. Marina surounded by office buildings being renovated and exit from marina was via undergound parking garage. If you stop plan to stay and eat onboard.

No anwer on radio or phone at nearby fuel dock [not at marina] the following morning - sign said OPEN but no staff. No fuel available.

Decent place, friendly, not too many amenities, 2013-09-25
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (232)

I stayed here for one night. The staff were very friendly and very helpful in docking. The place is clean, the heads were clean too. A nice touch is that there are gass grills on the docks. There is no restaurant, pool, playground or that kind of thing but the price was reasonable and the facility was fine.

Comfortable and convenient, 2013-09-03

Madel reservations with Todd who was most thoughtful and helpful with specific needs. Very fine marina staff, three on the dock to assist in arrival. Would return and stay here again.

Very nice marina. Well protected from LI sound waters. Extremely clean. Friendly staff. No fuel. Highly recommended for transients and seasonal slips.

Still in Business, 2013-06-23
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

We used to stay in Yacht Haven West, but that facility is no more. Brewer's have kept operating in Yacht Haven East, and doing a good job of it. Facilities were very clean, though the laundry was a bit dated. Machines were a dollar a load. Staff, as at all the Brewer's we have stopped at, were friendly and helpful. There is a small West Marine about 3/4 mile up the road, but we didn't see many restaurants nearby. The area is being redeveloped, but construction noise was minimal over the weekend we were there.

Always helpful at Brewers, 2013-05-26

We spent several days here preparing our new (to us) 46 Moody for her trip to quarters in the Chesapeake. We had stayed at this marina in 2007 and had very positive memories. The skipper was then sick as was one of our pets, and the marina staff could not have been more helpful. Arranged for a taxi to the hospital, etc. The same held true this time as we took off the winter covers and got ready to head south. It was clear that the season had not quite started%u2014most boats were still in winter wraps with owners starting to strip them. Not a lot of traffic or visitors. Nonetheless, the facilities were clean; the staff always helpful and positive; the other folks working on their boats a delight to talk to. The Brewer chain of marinas are well run, and this one was no exception. A good place to overnight.

Good overnight stop, 2013-04-22

We called the marina on our way north from NY, as we got stuck in bad weather, so we called to seek refuge for the night.
The gentleman on the phone, Rayon was very nice, patient, and extremely helpful. It was early in the season, so not much going on, but we were glad to have a place to dock for the night.

Be careful as you pass Jack Island and turn to starboard: STAY to the left of the white buoy, or you will hit a rock. Keep the white buoy to your starboard.

Easy In, Easy Out, 2012-11-30
Captain: , East Coast (174)

As others have said, it is not particularly close to anything land-based and doesn't have much in the way of facilities, but makes for a very good stopover or even a destination with an easy, straight-forward approach from the Sound. While the clean, modern, floating docks surround a corporate park, it is still a nice, park-like setting and very quiet out on the docks. There are no specific transient slips so you will be assigned one that is unoccupied. The permanents I met there were very friendly and welcoming. Take the dinghy around to the west side of the harbor for a decent meal at the Crab Shell.

Great protection, Great docks, 2012-09-26
Captain: , New York (209)

Very clean and well-run marina. New, large floating docks with many grilling areas with picnic tables and very nice webber gas grills. Todd, the General Manager is extremely helpful. Although they are not a full service yard, he can address most problems that do not involve a haul. Nice clean heads and showers and free coffee and bagels on the patio on weekends. Shoprite and West Marine are about 1 mile up the road.

Helpful Owner, long walk to anything, 2012-09-17
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

We came in late and had trouble finding our slip. The owner was on his boat and came out and helped us dock. Its a very long "mile" to the grocery store and the west marine, but, it's doable.

Superior protection, never a ripple, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Stamford (130)

Great marina with many newly built docks, wifi, and cable; no gas or other services. Great cellular coverage. There is gas up the other west branch at Skip Gardella's. They have ice for $3 a bag. Wind protection is superior but not stifling. There is lots and lots of parking. Great grilling dock on Pier 4 near the island that protects the marina. It is a mile from anything retail on land which is why it is so quiet there, but once you go that mile there is a ton of restaurants, shops, parks, and grocery stores. There are many taxi's in the area.

The water is like glass in the marina, never a ripple on even the biggest weather days. 360 degree protection from wind and waves. In fact, it is likely the most protected spot I've stayed at ever. Although, during a hurricane it might be better on the safer side of the hurricane barrier!! lol.

The deckhands are always around, they seem to always be busy with cleaning bird poop. It shows because the marina is immaculate and my boat never has a bird poop on it.

Great Protection, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Newport RI. (145)

Located immediately before hurricane gate in Stamford. Offers great protection. Docks in excellent shape. Janie, the dockmaster, could not have been more helpful. She was at the face dock to wave us in, help tie up, give information and offer any help needed. About a mile away there is a West Marine and a grocery store. In the same area is a really good Peruvian restaurant, Fiesta Cove. It isn't fancy, but the food is unique and really flavorful. Certainly worth the walk. Brewer Yacht Haven is dog friendly and we had excellent Sprint cell phone coverage. Free wi-fi.

If Brewers says "East" - they mean way over here, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Bristol, RI (766)

Nice, safe, modern facility. I kept looking for it near the other part of Brewers. The view is mostly modern office buildings that provide great wind protection ( and you can probably buy into a good hedge fund too). Sat out a hurricane threat here. Expensive upscale sea food restaurant on the docks. Nothing in easy walking distance but great local Enterprise car rental.
