Reviews for Brewer Wickford Cove Marina
Wonderful spot!, 2017-08-18
Captain: , Barrington RI (536)

We stopped here for a one night stay, and liked it so much that we stayed for two. The mooring system is a little different. There are a series of pilings set with a line between them. Attached to this line and the pilings are bow and stern lines. To grab a mooring, pull your boat inbetween the pilings, and grab the bow and stern lines off of the overhead line. Much easier than in sounds, and it keeps you from swinging in the narrow harbor.

Dock staff is VERY helpful. They have helped fend me off another boat when my attempted docking went south, and they are usually at the fuel/pumpout dock to lend a hand.

Very pretty spot, with much to see if you take your dink to the town dock. Good food, or provisions (bakeries, ice cream) in a quaint little town.

42 min for gas, 2016-09-26

We had to wait over 1/2 hr for the girl to come for gas.

Tricky moorings, 2016-09-15
Captain: , Charleston SC (120)

We ended up here due to a hurricane...asked for a mooring and got put on "piles"...whatever that was going to be...turns out you navigate your boat between two pilings and tie up bow and stern. This is tricky without wind...if its blowing I would demand assitance or take a dock. There is also a pesky line that runs between the two poles which is of no use to you but constantly gets in the way. One washer and dryer, four showers at the marina.
Town is cute three restraunts. Use the town dock to get to town. Grocery is about a 3-4 mile round trip walk...make sure you plan for the liquor store stop on the way back to the town dock.
Great quiet stop...but be prepared when going to tie up!

A must stop, 2016-07-07

Well run Brewer location. Great dock staff, easy walk to Wickford which is a quaint New England town. No cable but very good internet. Awesome fireworks viewed from our flybridge. Best fuel price around.

Winter re-treat, 2016-04-29
Captain: , Newport, RI (40)

Larry and his crew are flexible and supportive in our shoulder-to-off season, haul-out, and winter storage needs. Their shrink wrap work was reasonably priced, and access to the yard is excellent all winter. All the amenities you want and need for spring preparation and launching are on-site, without the higher prices of comparable yards in Jamestown or Newport. Love those 2016 fuel prices!

No transient slips, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Cape Cod, MA (203)

The 1 star is to get your attention. BWC no longer has dedicated transient slips. I called to reserve for the next day and was told that I'd receive a call back within an hour informing me if any seasonal slip would be available. Never got the call. Came to Wickford Cove Marina instead. A great find.

Another Great Stop, 2013-08-10
Captain: , Philadelphia, Pa. (201)

Stopped for an overnight due to crummy weather. Anna & Anders handle our boat as if it were theirs. We had their frequent customer card so cost was good, but even if we didn't it would have been cheaper then some of the other marinas in the area. Docks were in great shape and the best showers. If you stop there make sure you order pizza from "The Place" pizza shop. If you give them your slip number they'll deliver right to your boat. Also Sue in the office was nice enough to help us get our propane tank filled for $4.80!! She deserve a bonus. Very nice quiet place to stop.

Brewer Wickford Cove Marina, 2013-07-25
Captain: , Newport, RI (230)

Brought my boat here for bottom paint and to have the topsides detailed. The customer experience was fantastic. I got the impression that the staff viewed my boat as part of my life rather than just an object. They were very accomodating and engaging. It was evident that they took great pride in their work and their high degree of professionalism. I have been looking to build a long term relationship with a full service yard in the Bay for a couple of years and I found mine here.

Lovely town, ok marina, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

We really liked the town. It's quaint but not overly and the people are as nice as we've met anywhere. Every time we thought about crossing the street cars would stop and wave us by. The marina is nice, great, air conditioned showers but the deck hands are a bit raw so I'd probably recommend waiving them off and tying up on your own. Altogether though a nice place to visit.

Enjoyed an overnight visit, but no moorings, 2013-03-24
Captain: , Barrington, RI (183)

We stayed overnight in season in 2012. When calling to make a reservation, we were told that in lieu of moorings they had wooden pilings on which to attach. Upon arrival, it was clear that a very young person--it sounded like a child, to us--was giving us directions on which piling to approach, and they were not clear. In addition, we called the office to get some instructions about how to tie up, also by a VERY young sounding person who gave very vague information. Not having encountered this configuration before and frustrated after a couple of attempts, we asked to speak with the manager who was nice enough to give us an outside-facing slip instead.

We also received conflicting instructions from a local man who had just tied up, adding to the confustion. Basically upon arrival you'll see you pilings with some ropes strung up between them.

Strong suggest that you obtain clear instructions as to how to deal with this configuration if you've not encountered it before....Brewers should routinely email same to all who reserve there for the first time, to eliminate any confustion.

that said, we enjoyed a parade of well decorated club boats, a tasty dinner ashore, and friendly dockside neighbors. If we return it will likely be on a slip.

Great marina, 2013-03-12
Captain: , Rhode Island (20)

Great marina, very clean, great staff. Quiet great location. Docks water depth

Very nice marina, 2012-11-17
Captain: , Portsmouth Ri (260)

We stayed 3 nights the summer of 2012. It was a little tricky getting our 30' sailboat in the pilings that were 70' apart with no lines set up, but we managed. The marina is very neat and clean with private showers and batherooms. The fuel dock is very easy to land on and staff is very helpful and friendly. Restraunts and shops are right there and very nice. The only down fall to this location is that if it's hot there is no air flow where your boat isn't facing into the wind.

Shore dinner in Wickford, 2012-09-20
Captain: , Greenport, LI, NY (35)

The marina is still first class. Friendly and helpful staff, nice clean heads & showers. No ship's store, but they ordered an unusual fuse I needed and had it the next day. The closest food provisioning is a 15 minute walk.
A short walk to town where we stopped into the Quahog Emporium. Linda, the manager, offered a taste of their seafood corn chowder. We ordered a quart to go immediately, it was so good. While sitting outside, we noticed a sign for their clambake to go. A complete clambake with lobster, steamed clams, fish warped sausage, baked potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, and corn on the cob. Linda was good enough to deliver it right to the dock. The price was right and it was delicious, and enough leftovers for two more meals! We will go back just for that.

Great place to have work done, 2012-09-12
Captain: , Deltaville (124)

Had extensive engine work done there and will be going back next year for more scheduled maintenance. Their mechanic is excellent and conscientious. Also very good electronic tech. The billing is very fair. Well managed and run marina/yard. They sent one subcontractor for a refrigiration issue which was in line with the rest of service there. So they clearly work at getting an even level of high quality service.

Good Place to Stop, 2012-08-02
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1020)

We were given a "preferred rate" for some reason (we had stopped here about ten years ago) which made this an economical stop. Pump out didn't quite empty our tank but that's happened before when the pumps are tired. Dockhands very helpful and friendly and office staff eager to help. Docks are in good shape and they are rebuilding the decking in front of the marina office.

Wickford is a really nice little town and this marina is very convenient to downtown. The best part for us was Gardiner's Fish Wharf which is just past the east/west split in the channel. They offer convenience docks for tying up a dinghy and the market has all kinds of fresh and frozen fish, plus clams, oysters, and lobsters. The first night, we had steamers and little necks. The second night, we had them boil up a couple of lobsters for us. And, the best part were "stuffies" - quahogs stuffed with scallops, deluxe seafood, regular, or spicy. Delicious!

Very Nice Marina, 2012-07-15

Another very good Brewers marina. Well maintained. Heads/showers are private and clean. Short walk to charming little town.

Charming New England, 2011-02-11
Captain: , Pawtuxet Cove, RI (272)

Although this is not far from our home port it make for a good weekend away. The marina is a great facility with all the amenity and very helpful staff and close enough to town. Wickford is a great little community with good shopping and enough to do that you weekend will be well spent. Also a great harbor to explore by dinghy and if you are using the dinghy, tie up at the town dock for provisions and ice cream.

Nice & quiet. Very helpful staff. Facilities are clean and adequit. Most Brewers have pools, this one did not.

Brewer Wickford Cove Marina, 2010-07-12
Captain: , Plymouth, MA (245)

We have stayed here many nights over the years, and the place stays the same. It is clean, friendly and 1/4 mi to town with all amenities. No pool, and a little pricy, but a convenient and picturesque stop on the Bay. If you give directions to friends, make sure to say the whole name,as our visitors went to the wrong place. Thank goodness for cell phones.

Great overnight, 2009-09-22
Captain: , Greenport, NY (437)

Friendly and professional staff. Very well protected marina. The village is close by with many small shops. However, the grocery store is closed and out of business (2009).

Convenient Stop, Boater Friendly, 2009-07-21
Captain: , Bristol, RI (132)

This marina is within easy walking distance of the village of Wickford, RI. The area is full of shops with antiques, clothes and souvenirs. There are many places to dine, both casually and more formally. The marina is cruiser friendly and will usually have room for a night or two at the service dock.
