Reviews for Brewer Stratford Marina
Nice stop in Stratford, 2016-08-09
Captain: , Fernandina, FL (428)

Stayed one night on July 23, 2016 in a slip. Breezy coming in so two dock hands provided good help. Nice facilities. Had to leave a $20 deposit for the rest room key and as we left early, they had to mail the refund. Couldn't put it on a card for some reason. Said they were working on a code for the door which would be more efficient. Walked a couple of blocks to main st for a good local restaurant.

Nice marina, 2016-05-28
Captain: , Newport Beach, CA (360)

As with most Brewer marinas, Stratford is very nice. Quiet, helpful staff, GREAT Internet. Our bow thruster was out so they put us on the fuel dock for two days while Naiad fixed a fin problem. Closest marina to the Naiad home office. Only had take-out dessert at the on-site restaurant, but it was packed at night.

Friendly, helpful staff - loud restaurant, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

Facilities were clean and well kept. We needed groceries - the store is about a mile away. We opted to walk over, but had too much to carry back easily. A phone call to the dock office produced a ride in short order from a young man who made it clear that they were there to help out, and if we needed anything else, we should speak up.

Update 2 August: The restaurant has live entertainment on some nights. Tonight (Friday), a particularly gruesome duo was performing with very loud amplification. We found this quite objectionable, as we had to close up the boat in an effort to attenuate the noise. This is not a part of the marina, but be aware.

Nice marina, could use stand some improvement in service, 2013-07-01
Captain: , New Castle, NH PGI, Florida (300)

The dock hands were great, check in was a breeze, the restaurant was quite good, landscaping is pretty, pool looked inviting. However, when we went to shower at 6:00 in the morning, the porch on the bath house had a large garbage can spilled all over it (animals?) so it obviously was not emptied the night before. The shower room was nice, but lacking in simple things that transient boaters need - like hooks outside the shower on which to hang your towel and bath kit? The trash was overflowing so again, don't think anyone cleaned the bath room overnight, which I would expect in a marina of this caliber and cost. I really appreciate a nice clean bathroom that someone has given some thought to designing!! It appeared that there was an on site manager who may live upstairs from the bath house (mattress on floor) . . . or at least sleeps there at night.

Great Restaurant, Good Marina, 2013-05-25
Captain: , Mattituck, NY (74)

Just to reiterate what everyone has said. The onsite restaurant is great. We have a family of 4 and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The current is really strong. The facilities are nice and well kept. Did not have much interaction with the staff, but they seemed friendly enough

Nice but Expensive, 2012-11-15
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1523)

While delivering a boat to Norfolk, VA from Falmouth, MA this was my second night's stop. The marina was in good condition after hurricane Sandy on Sun. 11/4/2102. We were welcomed with an info package and the staff was friendly and capable. The only complaint I had is we were not given any off season on dockage and they do not offer any discounts on fuel.

A very nice marina, 2012-08-12
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

2012-08-12 Staying five nights, tonight our last. Previous reviews have covered it very well. Just want to repeat that the current is quite strong and the marina is open to all winds, and the little black flies can be annoying. Also, the local boaters either don't seem to understand "No Wake" or they just don't give a damn - 50% of them will rock you. Onsite restaurant food is quite good.

Very nice Marina, 2012-08-06
Captain: , New York (187)

Be careful of the current, it is very strong mid tide. Nice onsite restaurant.

Great Place to Stay, 2012-07-28
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

Nice marina, courteous staff and within walking distance of malls and downtown. The current can be interesting.

Great stop over, 2012-05-28
Captain: , mamaroneck (140)

Not enough can be said about the marina itself. The current and wind can be difficult and if you can time it to arrive at slack tide you will be ahead of the game. But, if you can't, gain comfort in knowing that the dock hands will help you in and are patient if you misjudge on the first attempt as did yours truly. The inlet is narrow at times and some of the boatsman coming out were not as courteous as one would wish. We were pushed by wind and current and people "hogging" the lanes, beyond the channel markers; so be careful. Having said that, the estuary on the starboard side, made for beautiful scenery. There is a restaurant, The Outrigger, not affiliated with the marina, but a definite welcome addition. The food was good, the waitstaff very friendly and efficient and the music great. Note, watch for those little black flying insects. The restaurant provides the off, but long sleeves and socks will serve you well.

The town is a short walk up Broad Street, but there is no much to do. There is summer theater but the productions are geared to the older crowd. There is a magnificent War Memorial paying tribute to those Stratfordites who served and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. It is worth the walk. The historical society house is only open two days a week, so if you are interested in history, time you visit; we weren't so fortunate.

All in all, it is a good layover; I would not make it a vacation destination spot.

Nice marina, 2011-12-24
Captain: , Huntington (455)

Well maintained dock with stunning sunrise views of the marsh land. We used this as a stopping off point from Newport since we had not been in the Housatonic. The current is amazingly strong if you enter at the wrong time. Nice stay and no reason to go into town.

Great Brewers Service, 2011-08-02
Captain: , Mount Sinai, NY (41)

My wife and I visited Brewers Stratford this weekend for a 2 day stay. What can I say other than the staff was as professional as they come. Could not be more accomodating and the dockmaster Josh is a true professional.

The Outriggers restaurant was very enjoyable and had a great selection of food and the view and service was excellent. One suggestion, don't try to get seated 10 minutes before closing. The hostess and a clerk in the front did everything they could to discourage my wife and I from staying. They said we could stay if we decided on what we want to eat within 2 minutes, otherwise the kitchen closes at exactaly 8PM on Sunday. In my book this is under the heading of the tail wagging the dog and the restaurant has too much business. The funny thing is that we saw main course meals going past our table as late as 9PM. I guess they ordered in from another restaurant....By the way..Outriggers is NOT part of Brewers...

Anyway, back to boating... taking the tender up the Housatonic was magnificent once you get beyond the power plant...

Brewers Stratford will be on our itenary every year for years to come...thank you Josh and the gang for making our stay an enjoyable one!!!

Nice Service Too, 2011-07-30

Ceol na Mara, July 2011

Pulled in here with engine problems, Rob and the staff could not have been more helpful. Spotless facilities and a good meal at the restaurant also contributed to a great experience.

Slooow service, 2009-09-23
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

Nothing special, but certainly adequate. Took 1/2 hour to find someone who could give us our key deposit back when we were ready to go

Nice Marina, 2009-08-21
Captain: , Sag Harbor, NY (605)

This is a good quality marina. All the facilities are in good shape and the staff is friendly and knowlegable.
The onsite restaurant is very good and it is only a short walk into town center which has a variety of stores, restaurants and entertainment.
On the downside, not all slips have working cable TV and it was obviously the 1st day for the dock hand that helped us tie up. He was very friendly and enthusiastic, but just did not seem to understand how liness, electric and water had to be connnected. He did have a more experienced person with him when we actually entered and tied up to the slip, so that was not a problem.

Heaven on the Housitonic, 2007-07-23

I pulled in here with engine problems during a recent cruise. They had a diesel mechanic on board within 15 minutes. Once the problem was fixed, I stayed overnight and enjoyed their great hospitality and clean facilities. Outstanding.

Great place to be, 2007-02-01
Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

This has been our "home" marina for 7 years. Great location, good docks, friendly staff and dockmates! Kids love the smallish swimming pool and Outrigger Restaurant is worth a trip from anywhere on the sound.

The only downside is the strong current on the river which makes docking a challenge, but the dock staff will make you look like a pro.
