Reviews for Brewer Stirling Harbor Marina
Excellent Marina, 2017-08-02
Captain: , New York (262)

One of the nicest marinas I have stayed in
Docks are clean and well maintained.
There was a problem with one of the breakers on my pedestal but there were several unused ones so it was not an issue.
Bathrooms and showers are clean, there are also a couple of private ones that sometimes have a short wait.
Good resturant on site and a short shuttle ride into a very nice town
Mind the No Wake bouys that strech out all the way to the tip of the jetty

Quick and easy stop, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Montreal (717)

We just came in for fuel and water. That was quick and staff helpful.
There is no pump out available, so then, we had to go the Mitchel to finish the job.
With a 40 footer sail boat, we had to backup to access the dock. You will not be able to turn around in front of the service dock.

Stayed on G dock. It was in terrific shape, with new power and water and a choice of twin 30 or 50 amp service. Very nice landscaping and a new building under construction for additional restrooms. Speaking of which, the restrooms/showers were spacious, clean and air-conditioned. Two ply toilet paper is a quality touch, thank you! We had a problem with our fridge which couldn't be fixed on short notice (we were trying to beat the weather to Nantucket), but not for lack of trying. Thank you, Brian. Shout out to Ricky at the gas dock. Best service I've experienced this season. Not only did he pump the diesel, but carried ice aboard (needed a lot, given our fridge issue), helped out with water, rinsed his own foot prints off the boat, pulled out an app to help find the perfect two stroke mix for my Dinghy. Yes the diesel was expensive - $3.80 - but the service was excellent! Thanks, Ricky. Wish we had more time to stay. Will return.

Nice and quiet marina. Town was quaint and welcoming. Great seafood restaurants on the docks.
Cab rides expensive though.....fixed prices because everything is a short ride. Our last cab ride back to the boat was 13.00 for literally a 10 minute ride!

Another Good Brewer Marina, 2014-09-23
Captain: , Deep River, CT (250)

Spent the Greenport Maritime Festival weekend at Sterling Harbor marina. The dock hands were very helpful and all the facilities were very good. We did not go to restaurant but others raved about it.

Nice facility, 2014-07-21
Captain: , Wantagh NY (601)

This is a very nice facility and in the old days really catered to transents, now seems more of you standard marina. The biggest down side; far from town to walk, they had shuttle bus, but not as convienent as just walking to town. I gave it four stars, but really it is 3 1/2

What we expected, 2014-07-16
Captain: , New London, CT (51)

Stayed one night and found it up the Brewers standards - although showers/heads were not as nice as other Brewer locations.
We encountered the same dockhand several times - helped us come in, saw him at the pool and he checked us out. He constantly complaiined about how "busy" he was - needs to work on his customer service!

If you like calm, 2013-08-28
Captain: , mamaroneck (140)

this is the marina for you. The waters are still and the harbor protected. The staff is courteous and professional. The bathrooms and showers within are clean and spacious. The pool area is very inviting. There is a restaurant on the property, but more importantly there are plenty of bbq's calling for picnics. They have a shuttle to drop you off in Greenport, a town that has cute stores, a good chandlery and great ice cream shops. A great family spot or just to enjoy with your other half. A return trip is a definite.

Good Location, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

Responded well to our phone reservation, answered promptly to radio calls upon arrival and dock hands at the slip to assist. A nice quiet stay, great town to visit by bikes, marina wi-fi would not stay up and operational. Would return for revisits.

Best Service, 2013-07-17
Captain: , Little River, SC (1987)

We were stuck in Greenport with a transmission leak in our single engine trawler. Called several marinas and they would not look at it for several weeks. We called Stirling Harbor and the following day they had a slip for us and agreed to look at the transmission. They had a mechanic come in on Saturday, diagnosed the problem and determined that a new rear seal was needed. He could not order it until Monday. It arrived on Tuesday, was installed and problem fixed. The marina did not charge us for five days use of the slip; only the repair charges which I thopught were very reasonable. Beautiful facility, great pool, very clean restrooms and a courtesy van to get you downtown where there are numerous excellent restaurants, grocery, shops, etc. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous and always kept us informed regarding the status of the repairs. I highly recommend this marina for service work and as a stop if your are just passing through.

A very positive experience, 2013-07-16
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

Here for two nights. Docks are in great shape (contrary to other 2012 comments here), large and seemingly two finger piers, port and starboard for most slips. The attendents are very capable and attentive. Nice laundry facility. Can't speak to the showers, etc., because we didn't use them. Great restaurant on site.

couldn't be better, 2013-03-09
Captain: , Glen Cove, NY (108)

I am a Brewer Gold card holder from another Brewer marina, so I took a transient slip here for free in late June 2012. I was given a spot in the new section near the bathrooms, so the long walk that other reviews refer to did not apply. The showers were spotless, the rest of the facility, from the docks to the parking lot were maintained to the same high Brewer standards I am accustomed to. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Best perk: go next door to Billys Restaurant at the other Brewer Marina for a super casual lobster dinner!

Not the best of Brewers, 2012-08-22
Captain: , walpole, me (101)

I have liked what I've seen at other Brewer Marinas but this physically is not up to par. The dock staff is great but the transient docks need updating and something needs to be done about the long walk to the showers/rest rooms - maybe another one on that side of the marina?

Nice, but not so nice if you are a transient, 2012-08-19
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

As said in another review, the new section for the live aboards is a great place but if you're a transient it's not the greatest. You will definitely get your exercise walking to the bathrooms and the pool, which closes at six so there goes your evening swim. It is quite a distance from town, but they do have a shuttle unfortunately it stops at six. They do have cable hook up unfortunately that didn't work either. Maybe that shutdown at six also, I don't know, because I used my regular antenna instead.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The neighbors were very quiet, but I couldn't find the name of the cemetery.

Expensive and overrated , 2012-06-29
Captain: , Rumsey Island (330)

I thought all the Brewer's facilities were top-notch, this place was so-so. Highest fuel prices on our NE trip ($4.69/gal). I know it's NY, but come on...

Everything Done Right, 2012-06-16
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

We enjoyed a 3 day stay in late June. Still off season for this area but we were treated well and continue to be impressed with the professional up keep of Brewer marinas in all of our visits along long Island Sound. Greenport is a bit far to walk for supplies but just a few minutes by cab. Great restaurants but chose carefully.

New Slip holder review, 2012-03-21
Captain: , Greenport, NY (81)

Recently moved from Huntington NY and looks like we%u2019ve found a new home!So far the Brewers staff could not be nicer, the conditions of slip, grounds etc. could not be better and the cost is no more than the no-frills slip we had in Huntington.
I would give it 5 stars if we were there longer

As we have just entered into our 2nd year & I bumped this to 5 Stars since the Brewers staff has always gone above and beyond with any request we had.

Top Shelf Facility, 2012-02-12

Stirliing Harbor is one of the group of Brewer Marinas and one of the few 'hurricane holes' in the area. Sat out a hurricane two years ago and did not see 60 kt at the mast or more than 25 on deck. As a consequence, you have no view. Small creek, entirely filled with boats. Had my 100 hp diesel replaced there last season, they did an excellent job. Very clean heads & showers, nice pool, but town is too long a walk; tansients might prefer town marina in the middle of town.

Brewers Sterling At Greenport, 2011-07-29

Sterling's new section is nice. But if you're a transient beware of the old historic(60's) section. It's a hike to the facilities. At $3.75 a foot ask for a discount.
The GM, Jesse, appears to be trying to remedy.

beautiful and clean facility, 2011-06-23
Captain: , Milford (530)

We came midweek in a rainy June so there wasn't much activity. The restaurant was closed, Brewers people were hard to find, the shuttle to town ended at 4pm - it was a ghost town there. But the docks, power, water, bathrooms, showers, crowds, pool - everything was spotless and nice. It was also absolutely protected and peaceful up in the head of this cove. We slept well and will return someday.

Greenport is a 30-40 minute walk - we love it there since there is shopping for the Admiral, nice cafes and fancy restaurants, Prestons Chandlery, wonderful homes and pleasant walking paths.

Stirling Harbor Marina overview, 2011-03-28
Captain: , W. Islip (1025)

Once known as the %u201CJewel of the North Fork%u201D, Stirling Harbor Marina is again sparkling. Acquired by Brewer Yacht Yards in 2002, Brewer Stirling Harbor Marina has returned to its former grandeur through steady capital reinvestment. Improvements include brand new docks, a new pool, new landscaping, new bathrooms and poolside cabanas, new picnic areas, and a new exercise room. Creature comforts are plentiful and the setting is secure.
Located on its own peninsula in the northeast corner of the harbor, Brewer Stirling Harbor Marina sits on approximately ten acres. Two hundred slips offer protection from the wind and from yachting traffic for boats up to 90%u2019. Uniquely, the entrance to Stirling Harbor is home to a memorial for those lost at sea.
On site, a full complement of marine services is available. While the yard%u2019s strength is in carpentry and fiberglass work, a diverse and skilled crew tackles most any project. Adjacent to Brewer Yacht Yard at Greenport, Brewer Stirling Harbor Marina enjoys the benefits of a close sister port relationship. Between the two yards, extensive storage, maintenance, service, and restoration opportunities exist for boats of all sizes.
Ashore, Porto Bello, a fine Italian restaurant, beckons boaters to dine within the comfortable confines of the marina setting.

It's a Brewer, 2007-04-15

Bought by Jack Brewer a few years ago. Expensive very protected... no moorings, dinghy dock. For very rich folks only.

Stirling Harbor is a hurricane hole with no anchoring and lots of smallish moorings... perhaps 6 transients. Alice's fish store is accessible by boat on West side of harbor.

There is a dinghy dock at the entrance to Stirling Harbor which is a short walk to Greenport. It's handy.

Joe Angevine, the Harbor Mater is a major thug and creep. Expect no help from him for anything. Where do they find these "helpful" guys for these jobs?
