Reviews for Brewer South Freeport Marine
Nice stopover, 2017-07-21
Captain: , Occoquan Harbour (225)

Good place to stop and tour. Marina staff was very nice and accommodating as our one day stay turned into three with the fog. Marina graciously drove us into town to shop and picked us up later. Thanks Joe! Docks were all floating and in good shape. Nice strong wireless which was needed as cell phone coverage was spotty at best. Very nice shower, laundry, captains lounge area that was kept spotless. Would definitely stay there again.

First rate facility. Very friendly and accommodating.

Very good for a transient stop, 2016-09-18
Captain: , Cassiopea A (507)

Brewer's has excellent facilities and dock crew for a transient stopover. However, it's mediocre as a full service boat yard. The workmanship can be sloppy, and over the years, the trend seems to be less service and higher prices.

Terrific Marina, 2016-09-11
Captain: , Northport, NY (20)

We stayed here in July 2016. Dockhands were very attentive and so professional providing information as soon as we were tied up. The new Customer Lounge building is awesome with private showers, great laundry facility and terrific TV lounge area. Complimentary transportation to the grocery store or outlets is available until 6pm but we lost track of time and found ourselves stranded at the grocery store after 6pm. The owner's wife, Stephanie came and got us anyway - so gracious and accomodating! We will definitely return.

1st Rate Marina, 2016-08-24
Captain: , Northort, NY (20)

Marina is typical of Brewer facilities. Excellent! Staff extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. New 'visitor center' is wonderful with clean, private, and modern showers; washers and dryers; and an upstairs room with seating, tv and kitchenette. We ordered takeout food and sat up there to eat. Staff drove us into town to shop and picked us up. Highly recommend!!

Excellent Service & Facility, 2016-08-17
Captain: , Jamestown, RI (10)

As a transient I was very impressed with the facility and all of the employees that I had the pleasure of interacting with during a three+ week stay that included time on their moorings as well as time on the hard for maintenance. After 25+ years John Brewer is still personally running the lift and pressure washing vessels himself. He enjoys his work and it shows in all aspects of the facility and the employees. There is a beautiful separate building with showers, laundry, tv and a nice collection of books. The internet connection is good.

nice like any Brewers, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Montreal, Canada (140)

A1 service, nice place, clean and new equipment.

super experience, 2016-07-11
Captain: , Charlotte, Vt (60)

we had to wait out 3 days of rain here and it was a great experience. From the and and munchies to the heated bathroom floors it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was helpful and friendly. The boaters lounge was great except the TV didn't get the Red Sox. Kudos to the staff our stay was exceptional

Lousy work, 2015-12-21
Captain: , Portland, ME, USA (21)

Fuel, moorings, transient dockage are the only reasons to come here. Do not get any mechanical work done here. They are lousy.

For the area - 5 stars, 2015-09-20
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

If this was a different part of the country, it would need a great (heated) swimming pool to get 5 stars, but this is Maine. The facility and staff are great. The lounge and heads/showers are some of the best we have encountered.

We came here mainly for the admiral to visit Freeport and all the shopping and stayed 2 nights on a mooring. Everything was very nice, and even the wakes from the harbor weren't too bad.

The food at the adjacent Lunch and Losbter was good with the fish sandwich a good value.

Marina's don't get any better, 2015-02-13
Captain: , Newport, RI (20)

Brewer Freeport is as good as it gets. I have visited a dozen times over 8 years. Top notch dock staff, great service staff, and overall very good people. Superb facilities including a brand new building for laundry, showers, and customer relaxing, reading, internet, etc. Service staff and ships store can handle anything. Taxi ride to town, launch during working hours to moorings. Classic Maine lobster shack immediately adjacent the marina and it is a "must".

Nice services, 2014-09-02
Captain: , Galesville, MD (1341)

Brewer South Freeport has what appears to be a fairly new, two story customer lounge building on the property. It has wifi, laundry, showers, a mini kitchen, desk/computer area and cable tv.

We stayed on a mooring with no issues. Large dinghy dock area close in. Staff was helpful.

Nearby is a very casual seafood restaurant with outdoor (and indoor??) seating and take-out.

One of the best., 2014-07-23
Captain: , Belfast, Me (10)

Usually it is easy to find fault with a boatyard. Grounds strewn with toxic waste, unhelpful personel, poor and dirty facilities for the cruiser, an arttitude of being too busy to help and a focus on the regular customers and not the cruiser! This is NOT Brewers South Freeport. Here the stranger feels welcome and appreciated. No task is too small for helpful assistance. Our outboard stopped functioning and was fixed immediately and well. A previous repair failed immediately after we left the dock so I was prepared for the same but got much better.

Since we arrived at night and low tide, it was a bit tricky getting past Pound of Tea Island as chanel is not marked by bouys that are lit. However we did not run aground and found our reserved mooring quickly. It might have been a bit easier if we had been given the coordinates of the mooring however.

One more accolade before ending this review. The e reservation system is wonderful. it is simple and it works well.

Bottom line, if you are in the Portland-Freeport Maine area and need a place to get service for your boat and/or a quiet place to moor I cannot think of a better place than this yacht yard.

Great Marina, 2013-08-26
Captain: , salem ma (380)

Very professional service. No launch service however.

Excellent mechanics, 2012-12-01
Captain: , South Freeport (750)

If you have an engine or other problem, you will find knowlegeable and honest people at Brewers. This is not cheap, but it is most likely you will be on your way, both quickly and satisfied. Good people

Moorings at Brewers, 2012-09-27
Captain: , Annapolis (264)

We arrived after the marina was closed so we received our mooring assignments when we made the reservation earlier in the day. Mooring balls are white with a green stripe and the number written on top (hard to read!) They are located in somewhat of a diagonal line heading east from off the marina. There is one washer and dryer. The showers are very nice. You can take a taxi to town for around $7.

Don't plan to revision unless you go to Freeport, but the marina is quite nice, 2012-08-20
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (3112)

Great staff, very accomodating. Freeport has most anything you could need (and a lot you don't....think in terms of the worst outlet mall you've ever been to). Shaw's is actually much closer than Freeport, and could be walked if you are's probably 1.5 miles each way. Good showers, and good place to get live lobster.

Great staff!, 2012-07-27
Captain: , walpole, me (101)

I nominate the staff for the best in Maine. They were very helpful and accomodating even though they had to move us twice.
The facilities - docks, heads, showers, laundry, lounge (one outside, one inside) were all in excellent condition and clean.
My only complaint would be that there is not much to do without some sort of ground transportation - there is taxi service available.

Great marina, 2011-08-06
Captain: , Boston (232)

Brewer's South Freeport is a wonderful marina. Helpful staff and a beautiful location.

Can't say enough nice things, 2011-07-19
Captain: , Narragansett Bay, RI (416)

Staff was extremely helpful, including a briefing of the facility and nearby attractions once tied off. Good clean facilities, including showers. Lobster shack virtually on top of the dock. Probably different owner. Breakfast stand as well. Order up a couple steamed along with their lobster bisque and bring back to your boat. Current in the river is noticeable, but manageable.

Friendly, competent Service, 2010-12-08
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (199)

This is a wonderful stop especially if you are interested in visiting, (shopping) at all the stores in town like LL Bean. Brewers friendly staff provide many repair services, clean laundry, WiFi and fuel / water. A nice outdoor/indoor lobster resturant is next door that also has takeout. We love this facility and make it a regular stop during our summer cruise to Maine.

Great Place, 2010-10-16
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

If you are a Brewers member, the price is very good. Good staff, facilities, etc. Shore cab ride to LL Bean, but make sure you have cab give you cost in advance. One cab company is high, and the other is decent.

Helpful Staff, quite marina, cab to town, 2010-08-07
Captain: , Naples Fl. (100)

On a 112' yacht, Freeport marine was able to accomodate us on fuel dock
Great shopping nearby, outlet stores, world famous?
Harraseeket restaurant close by always busy (picknic style BYOB)
plenty of water as well as lobster pots

good marina, nice place to stay, 2010-08-03
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1164)

We were scheduled to arrive after normal closing. We kept the marina updated on ETA. Staff waited for us and helped get us settled. Well protected harbor. Watch the current going around the island that forms the harbor entrence. Good docks, solid power, but water pressure is a little light. Easy cab ride to LL Bean complex and town. There is a resturant next door.

very nice, 2009-09-30
Captain: , prudence (30)
