Reviews for Brewer Pilots Point Marina
Excellent Service, 2017-08-28
Captain: , Transient (206)

You can do as much or as little of the work yourself. Worked with yard to design and fabricate custom solar installation. Extremely professional and great end product.

Not what it was?, 2017-08-10
Captain: , Glen Cove, NY (62)

Been to Pilots Point several times in past. Stayed there 8-4-17 and noticed a difference - new ownership? First they want you to use "Dockwa" for a reservation for transient slip, and the not very fine print says, like a hotel, if you cancel a reservation within a week (yes, 7 days) prior to the date they'll charge you 50% of one night's stay. (Apparently you can join something and then it's within 24 hrs that they charge 50%.) Refused to give credit card info, I just went to the fuel dock and got a slip. They have no laundry facility, got no welcome package as in the past. And they've cancelled Brewer's multiple stay discount. The dock crew was friendly but seemed less so than a year ago.

Management response:
Hi Cap! Thanks for your review. I am sorry you had some concerns about our policies, but I can assure you everything we do is to try to make your experience better. We moved to Dockwa this year to make reserving a slip easier and possible 24 hours a day- in fact, we the marina actually pay for this service to try and make the boater’s life a little easier. You are correct on our cancellation policy- with only so many slips available, it is important that we hold both ourselves and the boater accountable for that space- it is tough when we turn someone away, and then another boater cancels. As for the laundry facility- you are correct that we do not have one on site, however we do offer a free courtesy shuttle that can take you to one nearby. I am very sorry that we must have missed giving you your welcome packet- we still offer one to every transient, I'd be happy to ship the package to you if you could provide me with an address. Finally, everyone on our staff is dedicated to being as friendly and helpful as possible to each and every one of our boaters. We are here to serve you and make your experience with us nothing short of excellent. I hope that you stop in again and we can live up to the reputation you know. Sincerely, Josh Bagnati.

Beautiful facility.  Beautiful location.  Nice staff. , 2017-08-08
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (470)

We will return to Brewer Pilots Point Marina.  As with other Brewer marinas we have been to, this one is well run, well maintained, with an excellent and helpful staff.  Wifi works well in and around marina buildings, but mostly not so much on the docks.  Toilet and shower facilities are ok, fairly standard washroom.  Certainly could use an upgrade, but it%u2019s fine.  No laundry facility.  The Brewer boatyard was prompt and most friendly to assist us with a bad battery problem, but it was not cheap.  Being a cruiser without a car comes at a cost, as too many of us know.  The battery cost probably $160 more than if I could have purchased it myself.  But the labor charge was very fair, and most welcome to get us back on our way.  The approach from the Sound was straight forward and easy, just follow the ActiveCaptain reviewer comments.

Definitely First Class, 2017-08-02
Captain: , Lincroft (184)

Stayed night of August 11, 2016. Everything is in tip-top shape here and service is first-class. If you have a deeper keel pay attention to your approach to the transient docks. There is definitely shoaling at the entrance to the first set of transient docks that is immediately to starboard. Don't be fooled by the private pier that is on the right of this entrance under the house. The tip of it closest to you is aground most of the time. Take your turn to starboard late, favor the tip of Brewer's piers and you will be fine.

Stayed again night of July 23, 2017. Same as before however Brewer's was acquired and no longer offers discounts on multiple stays at different marinas

Best Brewer Marina!, 2016-08-20
Captain: , Stony Point, NY (20)

We stayed at a few Brewer Marinas in Long Island sound and this was the by far the best of the all, great freindly staff and awesome clean facilities! Thank you all for the great stays.

Management response:
Thank you for coming, it was pleasure to have you guys! We hope you can make it back next time you're in the area.

Great Marina, 2016-08-06
Captain: , Annapolis MD (260)

Stopped here twice in the last month, once going north and the other on our return. Excellent floating docks and good wind protection. Dock hands were excellent. There is a little shoaling as you turn into transient slips but the dock hands warned us of the shoal. We had 10 ft coming in and at the dock just above low tide. Nice bathrooms. Restaurant on site and a tapas place within walking distance. Better depth here than at Old Saybrook.

Perfect stay, 2016-07-27

Would not change a thing

It's A Brewer, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Portland, ME (250)

Great stop, diesel was 3.00 (2.95 with AC discount). Assigned to a face pier in front of the restaurant. Restaurant patio overlooks the face dock, we were offset enough that we had privacy, but the boat infront was not as lucky. Plenty of slip space available, but was told it is reserved for larger boats.

Bathrooms and Shower were excellent, good ships store and very friendy dockhands. Only in for one night but enjoyed the Brewer experience to stop the next day at another Brewer along the CT coast.

Too Expensive, but otherwise Great, 2016-07-18
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Nice shuttle service, easy docking, great staff, facilities are first rate.

Management response:
Thank you so much for visiting! We strive to give you the best possible experience you could hope for. We hope to see you again soon.

Excellent customer service!

Very nice marina..., 2016-05-28
Captain: , Newport Beach, CA (420)

As with most Brewer Yacht Yards, PP is very nice and comfortable. All the amenities. Great Internet, helpful staff and the slips are spread out so you feel like you're in a small marina. Store was able to get competitively priced hydraulic oil within an hour and delivered directly to my boat.

One of the best marinas, 2016-05-05
Captain: , The World (30)

Clean, neat, attractive, with well cared-for restrooms (though the shower controls in the women's room need replacing). A rare feature: recycling. An excellent program, in fact. Staff is friendly, goes out of their way to help, and they even had a push boat ready to move us around the corner into a slip for a more comfortable night.

Layover and haul out, 2015-11-27
Captain: , Annapolis (532)

On a dleivery, the bopat I was deliverying broke down. Marina straff were very helpful. Nice place to stay and and very accomodating. These guys are caring and ensure everything is shipshape.
The boat eneded up being hauled and trucked to its destination.

Best Kind of Big Marina, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Wickford, RI (560)

They have everything; pool, restaurant, club house, and it's all nice. Good floating docks, pleanty of water, and helpful, knowledgable, pleasant staff. Stayed just one night and enjoyed it. Walked about 20 miuntes to a good Med. tappas restaurant. First rate marina.

Brewers Pilot Point, 2015-09-02
Captain: , Scarsdale, NY (190)

I've stayed here a half dozen times, on my boat and on friends' boats, most recently in July, and for me Pilots Point remains the standard by which all other marinas are measured. Great facilities, friendly and helpful staff, easy navigation, and great restaurants -- and the train -- nearby. Also, easy access to the Menunketesuck River, part of the coastal park system, where we kayaked up to the I-95 bridge. Once we were past the marinas, it was just us and the birds. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Place to Stay, 2015-08-03
Captain: , Pittsburgh (80)

Totally enjoyed our stay at Brewers Pilots Points...All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice floating docks. Very good restaurant right at the marina. Clean showers...First class place..

Best on Long Island Sound, 2015-07-30
Captain: , Beaumont, TX (669)

Had problems with xantrexinverter/charger kicking off, the manager Chick got us in and had his electrician, Don on it within an hour and by the afternoon of the second day they installed 4 lifeline batteries, bench tested and repaired the xantrex with in stock proprietary xantrex parts and cleaned the carburetor on our dingy motor all at a very reasonable cost. Don was not only highly skilled but polite, courteous and took time to explain and show us exactly what the problems were. A beautiful facility with clean showers, bathrooms and free pump out boat. The dining room provided us with an exemplary lunch. Ths is THE place to stop on Long Island Sound. The only negative thing I could say is be careful of the black lobster pots navigating into the channe; wjem approaching from the east. Well done Brewer Marine!

Very nice spot, 2015-06-25
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

First night our on our Great Loop adventure. Very nice spot, little current getting in, clean facility and easy in and out as they put us just inside the gas dock.

Best marina I have ever been a member of, 2015-06-15
Captain: , Westbrook (10)

Been boating for years in Pilots point is my 5th marina and is by far the best. Location to sound, clean, great staff, events, pool, it is all I could ask for.

1st class all the way, 2015-06-04
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

One of the finest stops ever. Josh the dockmaster and his staff are all very professional and friendly. We pulled in for a day or two and stayed a week waiting for good conditions. The place is clean and well cared for and everyone is friendly and asks how they can make your stay better. We look forward to coming back again.

Huge Marina, 2015-01-12
Captain: , Newport, RI (360)

This place is like a city with gated security - plenty of docks to walk as they all seem to be interconnected - there are 2 pools and multiple shower/bathroom sites - great restaraunt and breakfast cart on site or plenty of others close by (long walk or take a dighy ride up the inlet) the transient docks are near the fuel dock/dockmasters shack near the entrance to the marina

Huge Marina, 2014-11-11
Captain: , Portland, Maine (845)

We came in to sit out a strong nor'easter. The dock staff was great. They have a courtesy car we took advantage of to go to west marine(flagship store), grocery and walmart. Facilities clean. Pool and restaurant were closed so cannot comment on those.

Excellent staff an facility, 2014-10-13
Captain: , Long Island Sound (10)

Entered during a heavy rain Dock staff had us follow them to the slip. Did a great job getting us docked secured and making sure we had power. Can not say enough good things about this place great location well maintained very clean. Alwyas look forward to stopping here.

Top Notch - We'll be back., 2014-09-17
Captain: , Oceanport, NJ (11)

Exceptional. We will certainly return here anytime we are traveling.

Beautiful marina, 2013-09-28
Captain: , New York, NY (470)

Everything about this place is top notch. Beautiful docks, manicured lawns, great on-site restaurant.

Great Marina, 2013-08-14
Captain: , Glen Cove, NY (108)

Being a Brewer Gold card holder I was entitled to free transient dockage here. This is not only one of the largest Brewer Marinas, but also one of the nicest. Friendly staff, manicured grounds, clean amenities. The "Boom" restaurant on site just reopened, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Service and food was a cut above the usual dockside restaurant. Pricing was also a bit high, but well worth it. I will definitely be back to this Brewer's Marina in the future.

Great service and facilities, 2013-06-24
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (121)

Friendly helpful staff, spotless marina and large service/repair yard. Flloating docks in good condition. We walked up to Bill's Seafood and Bliss Gourmet on Boston Post Rd, maybe a mile but the marina does have a courtesy shuttle. Bliss Gourmetr is well worth it for some very good food to make back at the boat or prepared to go.

Great amenities, 2013-03-02
Captain: , Boca Raton (40)

Loved this marina and would recommend to anyone. Great pool, clean showers. Like all the other Brewers marinas in N England, it's clean & well run. Just be cautious if you're bicycling into town. Very busy main street ( Boston Post Rd), with a very narrow bicycle lane. You'll love the gorgeous setting here.
We enjoyed eating at Booms.Big thank you to captain Jay who was super friendly and a huge help.

Nice place, 2013-01-31
Captain: , Gloucester, MA (807)

Nice place, convenient car service to local west marine

Excellent facilities but Service Costs Excessive, 2012-11-15
Captain: , Pilots Point (466)

Been at the Yard for five years and enjoy the location, the well cared for facilities and the friendly dock neighbors. But when it comes to service costs, I can't say much good about this yard.

It feels like they've got a profit plan and expect to reach it by overcharging their clients. Even small jobs become exorbitant at their hourly rates. I also wish they had more of a preventative maintenance mentality, to short cut major repairs. They bill on time and materials (like most yards unfortunately) and in doing so they pass all the risks onto their clients and have no reason to make their own operations more efficient.

All this has caused me to become knowledgeable about boat systems and maintenance and to limit the time I ask them aboard for help. That's a good thing really but I did it because their practices and bills leave a bad taste.

Great Customer Service, 2012-10-15
Captain: , New York (209)

This marina is part of a huge full-service yard- one of the largest on the East Coast. The service here is great and the yard staff is really willing to go out of their way to help you. The yard isn't near much, but they have a full restaurant and breakfast/lunch cart onsite as well as excellent facitilties. It's a great stopover spot or the place to go if you need some work done.

Nice stop on the CT side of the Sound, 2012-08-07
Captain: , Barnegat Light, NJ (210)

We ran into people on Block Island and were lamenting the lack of decent, reasonably priced spots on the CT side of the Sound. They gave us this was a nice tip. with our Brewers Cruising Discount card (free) our cost was ~$2.75 per foot (very reasonable for CT). Access depth is excellent (we draw 5 1/2) and the transient slips are nice-sized. Lots of amentities but this is just a stopover for us. My one comment to my wife was that the dock hands need training and - I was impressed - the dockmaster witnessed a couple of new hands make a mistake handling lines and he stepped in, corrected the situation, and then spent 10 minutes training them. Nice.

Awesome Marina, 2012-07-31
Captain: , Seattle, WA (445)

In our opinion this is the best marina's we have ever stayed at! Everyone at the marina was so friendly and helpful (James, Alex, Cristy). Cap Jay was especially helpful. The marina is a beautiful setting with well maintained and managed docks. The bathrooms/showers are great plus a pool right there to use. We had a excellent meal at Booms and the hot dog cart was a nice addition (2.50 for a hamburger) for a mid afternoon snack. They also gave us a card for 25% off any of their other Brewer locations in the northeast which we will certainly use while up north. Can't say enough
good things about this marina. Give them a try

they get it!!!!, 2012-07-15
Captain: , Branford ,CT (220)

From dockmaster Kris Schmid to the rest of the staff they understand customer service. The place is well run,the docks are top notch, the restrooms/showers very clean and the rates are fair for the services provided.

Early season review, 2012-06-11
Captain: , Boston (148)

Clean marina and good services the dock crew are being trained but were not informed about the Active Captain free night offer. No free breakfast as offered. Things will improve as the season progresses.

Quick fantastic Repair - wonderful marina, 2012-05-02
Captain: , Philadelphia, PA (40)

Had the opportunity to come here last September after picking up my new to me sailboat in New Bedford, MA. Had water in the diesal tank and ended up with a dead motor at Port Judith. Got towed into the main marine there and sat for 2 days with NOTHING being done!. Got out of there and sailed down here to the Brewers yard. What a great place, great yard and wonderful people. Had a mechanic on board my boat first thing in the morning, shuttle bus to grocery, West Marine and liquor store. Then on top of that gave me a free night slip! Engine's been great since then!

HOTS from Maine, 2011-11-13
Captain: , Maine (73)

We are making our way from Maine and this is the 2nd Pilots Point Marina we have stopped at. I must say with less than a 24 hr notice Emily who works on the Dock was great. Price was great for off season and this time of year. Facilities are great. Would def. stop in again. If I was staying in the area I would inquire about seasonal.

Love it. Would suggest to anyone, 2011-09-08
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (10)

My first season here and I could not be happier. Def on the pricier side but well worth it. The staff is great and the marina is kept in great shape. Can't wait till next season and this season is not even over yet.

One of the best, 2011-08-23
Captain: , Milford (530)

We spent a lovely day and night here docked with other transients next to the fuel dock. That was a little noisy and the pump out boat berths there as well, but the upside is the constant stream of boats to watch entering and leaving the river and marinas. Certainly a nice way to spend time with a cocktail and the sunset.

We ate at BOOM restaurant and were very pleased with service, food, and prices. Docks, bathrooms, showers, everything was clean and just a few steps away from our berth.

Brewers also offered a courtesy van ride for my wife to visit the outlet mall -- sweet deal for her (bad for me).

We will return to Pilots Point South marina sometime.

Great stopover for overnight or longer., 2011-06-28
Captain: , Mamaroneck,NY (46)

We stopped in twice so far this summer. The staff is always helpful and accomodating. The restaurant, Boom, at the South Marina, is excellent. Call ahead for a reservation on busy nights. The marina's location right at the entrance to the river makes it a fast stop when in transit. However, the great facilities also make it a fun place to sit for longer. We will definitely be back.

Great Marina, 2011-05-04
Captain: , Deep River, CT (251)

We visit Pilot's Point a few times each summer. We always feel welcome. The dock staff is professional and attentive to all needs.

Notes from a slip customer, 2010-04-25
Captain: , Madison, CT (11)

We've kept our boats (power and sail) at Brewer PPM since 1977. I also worked as a Service Manager at the South Yard from 2006-2009 and have seen this yard from several perspectives. I still consider it to be one of the finest marinas in the Northeast. The facilities are immaculate, and staff is obsessed with customer service and the Dock Staff is one of the best anywhere. After "living" there for over 3 decades I am spoiled, I guess!

Brewers Pilots Point, 2009-08-04
Captain: , Monches,wi (330)

Brewers hits another home run with this facility. We've stayed at 5 different Brewers facilities throughout New England and found all to be well run, clean, and friendly. This one is no expection.

Only downside (that's not marina-related) is if you don't dink or bike, it's a long trip into town for groceries, etc. I do believe Brewers has a van service from their marina(s) but we did not take advantage.

One precaution: If you do choose to bike into town be aware that the main street is Boston Post Road, aka US hwy 1. It's BUSY, traffic is FAST, and the bike lane is NARROW.

Former Home Port, 2009-03-09
Captain: , Nantucket and Miami (67)

Brewers Pilots Point is a huge marina broken into three yards - North, South and East. North and South both have pools and tennis courts. The East yard, the farthest up the river is the quietest and has neither. I keep my 42 footer in the East yard. It is a three minute dingy ride to "Bill's" the local seafood place. The bathrooms and shower facilities are very well maintained and very clean. The dockmaster and his staff are friendly and professional. They have extensive facilities for haul-out and repairs if needed.

Nice people all around and transients are made welcome.

Fantastic Response to Emergency Service, 2009-02-12
Captain: , Rye, NY (1)

The propeller on my sailboat captured a submerged polypropelene line which melted around the shaft bearing.and dislodged the coolant hose on my dripless shaft seal; bilge filled quickly with water just outside of the Pilot's Point breakwater. Pilot's Point crew had me hauled in less than 15 mnutes and the unit replaced within 24 hours.

Operated by one of the most competent sailors and boat people in the world, Rives Potts. My emergy service response experience was exemplary. Highly recommended.

Additional info, 2008-09-08
Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

Just to add to what has already been said: We stayed her over labor Day weekend, 2008. They run a courtesy van to local shpping and restaurants. This is a huge bonus and made our stay all that much more enjoyable.

Full yard Services, and fun food, 2007-08-01
Captain: , Onset, MA (2)

The marina has nice ammeneties (swimming, clean showers) but the 2 highlights are the water taxi convenience (24/7) to local seafood shack, and the quality full service yard.

BFPM, 2007-02-21
Captain: , Connecticut (7)

Nice place for kids, crabbing, SMALL playground, swinning in the pool and overall pristine cleanliness. Drawbacks are cost and the lack of proximity to town or stores. Running the dink to Bill's seafood or to duck isalnd can be great fun too!
