Reviews for Brewer Dauntless Shipyard
Nice marina, 2016-08-16

Convenient to town and very well maintained

First Class Operation, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Wantagh NY (601)

Actually was heading to Brewer Essex Island Marina when we hit a log crossing the sound, put a call in looking for options, once in EIM, Doug the service manager stopped by to discuss our issue and offer options. Since we had family coming in to stay on the boat he had service personnel haul the boat on Sunday morning, pulled props and towed us back to our slip. Doug called into Hale Propellers to expedite reconditioning and they had them done in a day and we were towed back into the slip 7:30am so we could go on with our vacation. I cannot say enough about Brewers Dauntless, from service manager to lift operator they were fantastic!

Excellent Stop, 2013-08-30
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (998)

We enjoyed several days at this marina to rest and have a bit of work done. Being too lazy to hoist my petite one eighth of a ton carcass up the mast, I asked if they would do it. To my surprise, they had it done in two hours. The staff is first rate, knowledgable and this marina is close to all that Essex has to offer. It is somewhat out of the current but there is some.

Love the Ct River Museum..., 2011-09-01
Captain: , St. Ignace, Michigan (236)

Brewer seems to have attempted to gain a monopoly on the Ct river. This is a historically significant marina, good docks, great location, competent, but run as one of many others in the system. You pay for no surprises, even with Brewer card, but why else buy up so many yards?

We docked here for 2 nights for $3/ft. Great staff, close to town, clean showers and pool. We would definitely stay here again but suggest trying to arrive at slack tide. Current is fierce on the t-heads.

Good Marina but Watch the Current, 2011-07-27
Captain: , Marietta GA (416)

We took a mooring for two nights and were pleased with everything other than the 2+ knot ebb current which made landing our hard dinghy at stern davits an adventure.

The marina launch was prompt and the operators were skilled at nestling along side despite the current. Town bus - 9 Town Transit -- made day tripping for provisions easy and cheap.

Subsequently we learned that we should have asked for a Brewer Card of some sort that provides a 25% discount for Brewer visits the rest of the season. You need the card -- a receipt won't do -- according to other Brewer yards.

Captain: , Wilton, CT (47)

This has been our home marina off and on and when it is not, we often stop as a transient. The staff is great. Doug Domenie, the yard manager, runs a very tight ship. Excellent place to get work done as their craftsmanship is superb. Restaurant currently (6/11) vacant but there is one coming in shortly.

Looking for CNG, 2011-03-04
Captain: , Williamstown, MA (335)

We are always on the look out for any marina with a CNG tank exchange service. Dauntless is one of the few on Long Island Sound. Nicer still, they didn't act like it, and could not have been nicer or more helpful. We'll be back for sure!

Can be a little tough to get into off the river in a blow, but decent dock help, and a great place to visit! Very small in-ground pool and a nice laundry facility. A few nice shops, a good couple of drinking holes and restaurants (Griswold Inn and the Black Seal). The marina eating facility is great for breakfast/take-out, as is lunch.

PS - If you have kids...the town ramp is a great place to feed the ducks and mother goose.
