Reviews for Breakwater Marina
Great service, 2014-11-23
Captain: , Tacoma (60)

Some of the reviews talk about the gas dock and fuel, this is a older marina with a awsome service department but they dont have fuel anymore. Kevin the service manager will go the extra mile to make sure your boat is well taken care of.

Nice folks, good facility, 2013-04-26
Captain: , Seattle (120)

The staff is very friendly and helpful. we caught them on a busy day but they still found a spot for us. The fuels are top-notch. If they are full you can tie-up at one of the finger piers at the nearby boat ramp right next to the ferry. The ferries run their diesels all night so get as far from that as you can if that bugs you. The zoo area is amazing. The bus service is excellent thanks to the ferry connection.

perfect place to stop and sit for a bit, but best for service, 2012-08-02
Captain: , Seattle (402)

We go in and out of here often. They always find room for us at the last minute. We avoid the weekend crush. They have the best service folks anywhere in Puget Sound! Also, Fred at the fuel dock will work to shoehorn you in if possible! Both the service department and the marina operators are first class. The marina itself is funky - they can't get any long term commitment from the parks dept as to whether they'll be there tomorrow. Makes improvements tough! Meanwhile fuel prices are as good as they get!!

Fuel dock is small, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Gig Harbor, WA (469)

They have changed their marine fuel to valvtech, which is treated and a much better product. The fuel dock can get busy and one large boat can take up the entire fuel dock.

The head pumpout is not to be used. It is portable and when you are finished pumping your boat out, you have to pumpout the pumpout. I would recommend bypassing unless you absolutely need the pumpout.

Consider alternatives, 2011-08-03
Captain: , Seattle (250)

No doubt folks who call it homeport have a fondness for Breakwater, but this transient boater had an indifferent experience. We called 5 days in advance to reserve a slip, and were assured they could accomadate us. We looked forward to walking to the zoo.

We called about 30 minutes before arriving, and they didn't seem to be expecting us. We were told to check in at the fuel dock. We arrived at the fuel dock which was completely occupied by one boat. Called again, and they were still clueless. Someone was going to walk around an look for a spot.

While we held position off the dock waiting, we observed the somewhat decrepit conditions. Very narrow finger piers, some many degrees off level. After sitting there for 10 minutes we decided to head on to Thea Foss Waterway, and the outstanding Dock Street Marina. We called Breakwater on the way out, got voicemail, and left them a message. Never heard back.

If you're looking for an overnight stay in the area, we recommend considering alternatives.

Good Prices - Great Place, 2010-02-03
Captain: , Day Island Y.C. (47)

We always fuel up here - it's easy access, lots of fuel dock space, good prices, w/ discounts, and good prices on ice, pop, snacky food. Nice bathrooms, and showers if you stay the night. And they recycle! Their Service Dept even helped us real quick when we had a clogge fuel filter - that was nice!
