Reviews for Breakwater Cove Marina
Marina is fine but the sealions are a serious problem, 2016-10-04
Captain: , Seattle (140)

The Municipal Marina may be worth a look. There is surge here and the odor is strong. The noise is nerve racking. You may find a large & agressive animal blocking access to your boat.

High quality marina, worth the cost over municipal, 2015-10-30
Captain: , Annapolis MD (170)

We stayed one night here on short notice when we could not get into the municipal marina (which otherwise seems to be the Active Captain favorite and which was very helpful on the phone even when they could not accomodate us). Very pleased with the outcome. Very nice one-boat slips, exceptionally friendly staff (especially on short-notice request for slip), conveniently located between Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row, multiple parks and shore access at the marina entrance, good power, water and security. We were in slip 18 on the dock facing the Coast Guard pier and sea lion resting spot. Docks are constructed with spikes to keep sea lions off and, other than one adorable sea otter napping next to a boat in a slip, we were not bothered by sea lions or their sounds, which we found wonderful and a great indicator that we were in this special place.

Surge and Sea-Lions, 2014-09-23
Captain: , Austin (421)

As mentioned by others the two things that will be memorable about our stay is the surge and sea-lions. Both are 24-7 distractions and color the rating of the facility. Unfortunately there isn't much the marina can do about either. Their service was great from working through our reservations to making sure our welcome package was available to us when we arrived. Everyone was great to us. They have done their part to control the sea-lions, electrifying the docks, and making sure they know they are not welcome. We met a number of friendly folks at the dock and if it wasn't for the surge and barking sea-lions the rating would have been higher.

Beautiful location if you don't mind the elephant seals barking., 2014-08-21
Captain: , Newport Beach, CA (360)

Breakwater Cove is a smaller marina at the upper end of the harbor. They now have Wifi, but it's weak at the end of the dock. Easy walk to everything. Water is pristine. Parks all along the waterfront. We enjoyed Santa Cruz, but Monterey is on a different level. Seals do tend to bark 24/7, but the noise soon fades into the landscape. Municipal Marina is close.

Nice place to stay when visiting Monterey, 2014-04-09
Captain: , Georgetown, SC (616)

We spent two weeks here, waiting for a weather window to continue our southbound cruise. Well maintained facility; very accomodating, friendly staff. The on-site restaurant is good, but a little pricey. I agree with previous comments abut the noise from the sea lions, they go non-stop. Still I find it pretty unique. Had a pair of sea otters just hang out, swimming around the boat for a full day. Pretty cool.
About the only negative thing I can say is the surge is significant. Far more objectionable than the sea lions.

A great place to stay over when visiting Monterey.., 2011-04-01
Captain: , Santa Cruz, CA (10)

This is a great place for an overnight slip when visiting Monterey.

Sea lion noise, 2009-06-20

Great Marina, love Monteray but the Sea Lions drive you nuts, they never stop barking day or night.
Some great resteraunts in town and the aquarium is good
