Contraband bayou 14-16 feet depth.

Watch for Cypress knees, especially if the tide is high, they may be hidden. Favor the left side of the channel after the tug docks. There is a shoal spot on the right just before the bend.

It is reported that as of August 2016 the channel/bayou into Bowtie and Olmstead's, starting at No Wake zone, has been marked with large PVC pipe with red and green reflective tape all done by the local USPS squadron. Stay in the middle and you will have no problems with stumps or shoals in bayou.

Reviews for Bowtie Marina
Fuel Stop / Very kind & Helpful staff, 2017-03-21
Captain: , Beaumont, TX (310)

Transit from the main river down contraband bayou is has many turns. Stay in the marked channel and you'll be fine. Take it slow, its narrow but deep. I never saw less than 10 ft in the middle of the channel and that was during a North wind & Low tide. Marina was very friendly. They pumped the fuel on my boat and pumped out my holding tank. They accept all credit cards.

Great Mom & Pop Marina, 2017-02-07
Captain: , Kemah Texas (389)

Very nice folks. Got fuel and then they had us stay tied up at the fuel/pump out dock for the night. Electric available even at the fuel dock. USCG Lake Charles station next door. Laundry and Dollar Store within walking distance.

FANTASTIC!, 2016-10-22
Captain: , Milton, GA (322)

Doug, Tammy, Ryan, and Caleb were all fantastic! Super helpful and friendly team at Bowtie! HIGHLY recommend. We particularly appreciated the help getting Mr. Fluffy Olmstead (from Olstead Marine) over to help with a few minor mechanical concerns.

Great fuel stop, 2016-08-14
Captain: , Port Isabel TX (640)

We came in here early to fuel up realizing that Doug did not open until 9 AM. We had a nice visit with the USCG crews as they were changing shifts. They helped us tie up to fuel dock. The weather was not good to continue on our way after fueling so Doug assisted us to move over to a long dock next to fuel dock. Very nicely offered us to stay until weather cleared. What a deal thanks to Doug and crew for their hospitality. As I write this Louisiana has had record flooding and rainfall for the past three days. Glad we are here in these protected waters.

Excellent staff!!!, 2016-05-27
Captain: , League City,Tx (20)

Their pumps were broken when we arrived in the area. We were stuck until we got fuel. They took out phone number and kept giving us updates. the pumps were fixed the next day and we went over and filled up. Great facility. Super friendly and accommodating staff!!!

A Gem On the Bayou, 2015-05-12
Captain: , Houson, TX (20)

This Marina on Contraband Bayou is outstanding because of Doug, the Dockmaster, who on his day off, accomodated our two 34' pleasure boats for an overnight stay, even opening up the store and turning on the fuel pumps.

Excellent Spot - Nice People, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Fort Collins, CO (107)

ONLY place to buy diesel and pump out in the area. Dock boys were professional and all over getting us fueled, pumped out and water in the tanks. Told us we could stay right where we were when we said we wanted to stay for the night. Slip including electric was $25. Miss Tammy is as nice as they come.

Great place for fuel and pump out, 2014-04-17
Captain: , Houston, TX (110)

I never got to stay here but the people that work here are fantastic. Very friendly and willing to help with anything. I got fuel here a few times along with a couple of pump outs. Easy to get into with good wind protection.

Staff makes this a good stop, 2013-08-04
Captain: , Corpus Christi (240)

Unfortunately we only got to stay one night as they were full for the weekend, which is typical in the summer.

The big advantage for us was the pumpout and fuel.

Valet Marina, 2013-08-03
Captain: , Galveston, TX (599)

The entrance is a challenge, largely unmarked, but trouble free once you arrive.

Not far from West Marine, Ship-to-Shore, Olmsted Shipyard, and many restaurants and gas stations on Prien Lake Drive.

Great Stop - Super Service, 2013-04-24
Captain: , Galveston, Texas (30)

A safe, protected and some of the best Customer Service you will find. Stayed here going East and tried the Casino while heading west. Should have stayed with Captain Doug for sure.

Will not make that mistake again...

Great guys and a nice place, 2012-12-07
Captain: , Lake Travis Texas (85)

We actually spent the night at L'Berge then went to Bowtie for fuel next morning. Wished we had stayed at Bowtie. Great folks, cheap fuel, nice marina and well protected. The store is small but has the basics. On our way back it'll be Bowtie for the night.

Great Crew, Great Fuel, Great Help!, 2012-10-25
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1421)

Just remember, Closed Monday! Great place to get fuel and some marine supplies as it is a boat yard. Coast Guard station right there. Watch as you enter the river. If you go at low tide, it is easy to see the thousands of Tree Stumps but if at high tide, it is important to stay in the middle otherwise, you'll be going there to get your props changed. Had a small problem and they jumped at the opportunity to help! Great crew. Also interesting house as you enter the river... has a small driving range in the back yard and too big of a boat next to it.

Great Hide away, 2012-07-20
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (170)

Doug and his crew are super! A little "depth challenged" and only room for a couple of transients, but a great out of the way stop.

Every Marina Should Operate like this., 2012-06-07
Captain: , Kemah, TX (230)

Can't commend the staff enough for being such a great place. FIll up and enjoy yourself.

Wonderful hide away!, 2012-03-09
Captain: , Rockport, Texas (130)

We came here to fuel up and spend the night. That was 2 days ago. This is a great place to spend "weather days" Owner and staff are most helpful and thoughtful.

Lovely Little Marina, 2012-03-05
Captain: , Kemah Texas (90)

Great little marina. Doug and friends were on hand to handle lines. We filled diesel, water, ice and emptied the holding tanks right at the dock. Coast Guard station right next door - very safe. Took taxi to town for dinner at Casa Ole. Taxi number for Checker/Yellow cab is 433-8282.

Quiet little marina, 2011-11-30
Captain: , Houston, Texas (63)

This is a much appreciated place to stay. We stayed there one night on our eastward trip and two more nights on our return trip to Houston Yacht Club. It is out of the vessel traffic but close to area restaurants. There are no restaurants in walking distance but taxis are easy and Doug, the owner, will recommend a good one. The Coast Guard station is on-property and can be a bit alarming when these guys start doing their morning checkouts of their boats and hit the siren for a moment in the wee hours of the morning. This is a pleasant hideaway though if you've been navigating ICW with barge traffic all day.

Bow Tie Marina, 2011-11-15
Captain: , Galveston (20)

The marina owner came in to the marina on his day off to sell us fuel and let us pump out. He had limited transient space, but let us tie up on the fuel dock for the night. Very helpful staff and pleasant stay, well worth the effort to wind through the bayou. NO power lines overhead as per most recent Skipper Bob's publication.

Great staff, great service, great marina., 2011-09-22
Captain: , Crestview, FL (170)

We stopped here on August 8, 2011 with diesel troubles. When we docked, I asked the dock master Doug to recommend a good diesel mechanic. An hour later, the mechanic was knocking on the companionway hatch. That%u2019s the kind of service I love. Good prices for dockage and fuel. Interesting to wake up and watch the Coast Guard boats headed out on patrol. No worries about anyone messing with you here. Dominoes wouldn%u2019t deliver here due to the questionable nature of the street headed to the marina, but Pizza Hut had no problems delivering.

Great place, 2011-02-25
Captain: , Kerrville, Tx (20)

Fees are resonable, cab is reasonable and staff is WONDERFUL. Scenic - you think you're out in boonies but your on the edge of Lake Charles

Great Marina, 2011-02-12
Captain: , Kemah, TX (188)

You have to stop at this marina and experience the great southern hospitality offered by owner Capt. Doug Sherman and his staff at this marina. This is our second time here and we highly recommend Bowtie Marina. Capt. Doug offered to stay late and help catch a line. They have a small ships store and offer gas and diesel ($2.97/gal) at very reasonable prices. They will assist you in making minor repairs. The Coast Guard is next door so security is not an issue. It is a short cab ride to the casinos and Capt. Doug or his staff will help make arrangements. We love this place and hate to leave.

Great "back country" marina, 2010-04-23
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

Very friendly and helpful staff. Small marina but has some limited grocery items, gas, diesel, and a pump out. Right next to Coast Guard station which makes it interesting. This is our third time here and recommend it highly.
