Approach from the ship channel between the #122 stand up marker and the #122A nun bouy to the north of it. Depths of 10-12 feet there. Run across the lake but don't get too close to the south shore as there are old pilings under water if closer than 50 yards or so. When approaching the marina line up near the western most docks end L to avoid the shallow areas to the south. This usually gives 8-10 feet of depth unless northern winds are prevailing for several days.

Tide & current additional info

Normal moon tide is 2 feet but an additional 2 feet could be seen due to wind tide.

Approach: 8
Transient dockage: 8
Fuel dock: Unknown

Other depth info: A and B docks have the best depth towards the ends of docks. C dock is rather shallow and the east side of B gets shallow. The closer to shore you are the shallower it gets. On very high wind days from the north at low tide there is sometimes only 6 feet at the end of the docks.

Nice facility with limited services, 2016-07-30

Nice floating docks next to a lovely public park, so a great place to walk the dog. Boating neighbors were friendly but we got rocked by numerous boat wakes on a busy summer weekend. We tied up on the end of pier A due to our size (53', 17.5' beam); had ample water depth for 6' draft. Key code access gates keep the public out, but dinner cruise boat docked for a Saturday evening event and left the gate propped open when they left for their cruise and when they left at the end of the evening.

New gates for docks., 2015-02-05

The city installed gates at the entry to each docks over the summer of 2014. Need to call the civic center in order to pay for a slip and get the code.

Fantastic "Marina" with good floating docks, 2014-04-17
Captain: , Houston, TX (110)

I stayed here for many weeks while completing my refit. The folks around here are very nice and there are several boats that like to come out on the weekends for get togethers. Everyone is amazing and I am happy to have spent time with them.

The only real downside to this marina is security. Essentially the town and all visitors of the town think that the boats in the marina are out for public display. I was boarded by people at least a dozen times as they wanted to take a picture of themselves on a sailboat. There was also one time where I felt very unconfortable with a group of 4 men that were jumping on each of the boats and trying to open the companionway doors around 2:00am! They were probably just drunks that were trying to have fun with the boats... but this gave me a terrible feeling.

Otherwise, there are many events that take place in the civic center or on the grounds outside which makes this marina a great staging point for being a part of the festivities!

As a tip, tie up on B dock and not A dock. When the wind gets up A dock bounces around and acts as a wave break for B dock.

If you get a chance, go and check it out! The prices are unbeatable.

Nice stopping place, 2013-11-14

We stayed here on our trip East because there were high North winds predicted and we were in the area. We found the approach to be easy and straightforward. Depths are in the 8 ft. range. Nice floating concrete docks with electricity and water with free wi-fi!

There are no other facilities except for public restrooms close by tht were locked much of the time we were here.

The office to check in is inside and behind the ticket booth in the Civic Center (big building near the marina). The folks there are very nice but don't seem to be comfortable with running a marina.

We rode our biked around downtown and had a nice dinner at Luna. We rode a number of blocks to Market Basket 2830 Ryan Street and found their prices to be very low and good selection. It would be quite a walk.

There is a visitor's bureau about a quarter of the way around the lake past the promenade. There are some nice war and 9/11 memorial sites to visit and a small cemetery to poke around in.

We enjoyed our stay here.

Nice facillities with no services., 2013-08-04
Captain: , Corpus Christi (240)

Great dock with power and water, but no other services. The primary advantage is it is in a park right downtown. Walking distance to several restaurants within walking distance.

The horse drawn carraige ride was a nice alternative to a taxi for going to one of the downtown resaurants with a little bit of the town's history.

We were able to rent bicycles and ride to the Walgreens to pick up meds as well as tour some of the city.

The casino was a casino just like all of them you have ever visited.

A Good Place to Park, 2013-08-03

Who doesn't like floating docks!

Easy dockage, even stern first. Great location. No services other than water, electricity, and free municipal WiFi. But a great stop for the kids with a playground and water park just across the street.

Wonderful, Wonderful Place, 2013-04-19

We so much enjoyed our time at Lake Charles, we really hated to leave! The people were fun and friendly and the City Park was beautiful. Sunsets were absolutely breath-taking on the Lake. We had a fantastic time and it was so relaxing, too. A big thank you to everyone (and they know who they are!) for the hsopitality and helpfulness during our extended "weekend".

Very nice but bit of a distance to get there, 2012-11-11
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

Well, thought I had already submitted a review but don't see it so I'll try again. Very nice concrete floating docks, Denver (harbormaster) was helpful on the phone in advance and upon arrival. Fairways are a little tight for docking, but doable, outside option also available. Beautiful waterfront park in development, first class. Dock fees are $10 plus $10 more with electricity. Nice meal at Luna's, 2 blocks east to Ryan, then north about 8 blocks on your right.

This is a wonderful place to tie up in Lake Charles! No problems coming into Lake Charles from the river between markers 122 and 122-A. No bathrooms/showers, but worth the stay.
