Reviews for Hodgdon Yacht Services - Southport Boatyard
one of the cleanest yards in Maine, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Manchester NH. (245)

Stopped here on 9/19/15. Tried calling on the phone and VHF (we were in Townsend gut at the time) to see if a mooring would be available. We went up to the fuel dock and found Amy closing for the day. We paid for our mooring and she let us tye up to fuel dock so we could walk the dog quick. We spent a comfortable night in settled weather on the last mooring out. Although we didn't use any of the facilities we could see that the yard is still as clean and nice as it has been for years. Looking forward to returning.

Friends home port, 2015-07-23
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (90)

We came here to visit cruising friends at their home port but have loved it here. Great launch with very nice drivers. Laundry at very reasonable charge for washer and dryer. There is even a small grocery within walking distance with a very! ample wine selection. Fuel and water and pump out available at fuel dock Lovely scenery. Short 4 miles thru Townsend Gut to Boothbay Harbor if you need to go there. We were here in very settled conditions so can't say how unsettled conditions would impact sleeping. Very reasonable rates for 49 ft LOA, 6.5 ft draft boat. Also nice clean bathrooms and showers. All in all a great place but would need a car if wanting to go to most other places. Only rated four stars because of potential need to have access to a car. Our friends had theirs here so wasn't a problem for us.

Superb service, 2015-07-07
Captain: , Glastonbury, CT (252)

We stopped in Sept 2014 on our way home to Ct for a mechanical repair. We were so impressed by their service we decided to leave the boat with them for the winter. We had extensive mechanical work done very competently and reasonably over the winter. In the Spring they had the boat in the water in commission a month before I asked for it to be ready. The boat was immaculate when we arrived. This has never happened in some 30 years of patronizing "good" boat yards. We are using HYS As our summer cruising base and Amy Armstrong the dock master and her staff could not be more accommodating. We never enter or leave the slip without dock attenders showing up to help. We came in to the fuel dock last week just to drop off passengers and while there one dock guy took our rubbish and another filled our water tanks while we said good bye to family. Ican not recommend thus yard highly enough.

Now answers to Hodgdon boatyard.

Great people, great service, good prices!, 2014-08-15
Captain: , Longport, NJ (31)

I anchored at the North end of the mooring field with no problems and plenty of water. In the morning, I docked and stayed at least 90 minutes doing various tasks. The dock crew could not have been nicer or more professional. One of them offered me his car when I asked where the grocery store was.

Name change same great place, 2014-08-13

Now part of the Hodgdon Marine Services. Excellent stop on the way to Boothbay. Limited pier space, moorings with launch service (0700-1700). Not much here (reason for 4 stars), but we will be back for a longer stay next season.

Nice people, great protection, very clean, 2013-06-11
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (2982)

Super clean heads and showers, good wifi, launch service included. VERY nice people, but there really isn't much here (except for a thriving boatyard).

Fantastic ervice, 2012-07-25
Captain: , Bristol, RI (139)

We were on a mooring in Boothbay Harbor and had a problem with some equipment. We called Boothbay Regioal Boatyard at 7:30am and were on their dock by 9am. They had the problem fixed by 1pm.

Great people and great service!

I know it is a good yard, but, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Newport (404)

We were anchored in Love Cove and took the dinghy to the yard. Ragtime is there....a work of art. However, we wanted to buy ice. There were two guys in the dockmaster office, and both on their phones. We stood there with ice in hand and money in the other. They looked at us as though we were jerks. Finally just left the money on the desk and left. They were still talking away. Not a warm feeling.

As we left Love Cove for Bootbay Amy, the Dockmaster, literally chased us down with her launch. She came along side to apologize. She was clearly upset with this lapse in customer service and wanted us to know it was unacceptable. So, we are changing to a 4 star and thank Amy for her profuse apologies.

Our Summer Home, 2012-06-13
Captain: , Southport, ME, USA (1158)

We were so impressed w/the yard & the area that we've decided to spend the summer here. The staff is very friendly & their prices are quite reasonable. The area has a lot to offer both on & off the water. Good wind protection from all directions.

Perfectt... simply perfect, 2011-08-14
Captain: , Biddeford, Me. Saco River (90)

Outstanding facility with a wonderful, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. The setting is idealic and exactly what one wants to find in a mid coast marina. This will be a place we will mark as an annual port to visit. Mr. Malone should be very proud of his facility and staff. Makes you want to spend a couple of months there.

A quiet place to stop, 2011-07-13
Captain: , Cassiopea A (507)

We've stopped here many times when we couldn't quite face the hubbub of Boothbay but still wanted a night at a mooring with real bathrooms and showers. The scenery is pleasant, the facilities are clean, and there's a relaxed feel to the place. If you need rigging work, Jay Maloney, reputed to be the best rigger in the Northeast, has his shop on the premises.

First Class Yard, 2008-07-25
Captain: , Edenton, NC (115)

Needed a tow from Boothbay Harbor to this facility for extensive mechanical repairs. This is truly a first class yard with fuel, docks, TravelLift and a full complement of qualified mechanics, carpenters, etc. Also offer storage facilities, indoor or out. Very satisfied customer. A bit off the beaten path in Ebenecook Harbor (access via Townsend Gut) but worth the trip.
