Reviews for Bonnie Castle Marina
well protected marina with very helpful dockmaster , 2016-08-25
Captain: , Burlington, VT (80)

stayed 1 night after visiting Boldt Castle - Ports cruising guide suggests "they have many slips for transients" - probably an overstatement so call ahead! Docks are solid, protected from wake as well as the usual SW winds. We were at the N end of the fuel dock and found good power pedestals for both 50

This place is great., 2016-07-22
Captain: , Sodus Point, NY (50)

We aboard Freedom spent 2 nights here and were welcomed like old friends. Lonnie is wonderful, helpful and a treasure trove of local information. He even gave us a ride to the grocery store. If you are in Alex Bay this is the place to stay.

Wintered for 2 seasons never again, 2015-02-16
Captain: , Gananoque ,Ontario Canada (288)

This marina was competative in their rates for winter storage but severely lacking in competence both in mechanical and service. The first year I was charged $1100.00 to change 2 impellers from a mechanic Harold that has been in the business 40 years. Charged 8 and 12 hrs labour for each impeller. I stayed and questioned the cost. The next year I had a list of work to be performed but weekend after each weekend I would visit the boat only to see stuff not completed in the winterizing. The manager Norm would say oh it will be done on Monday. Canvas was torn, the electrical hookup was hanging from 2 screws and the explanation from Norm was I dont think we did that. I insisted they fix it but everything they touched they buggered up. The next weekend I would come back and still not done. I have written letters to the owner Bob Lauzon with one response asking for details and never heard back from him. Do not store your boat there I spent the better part of last season 2014 repairing work half done or incorrectly done.

Dockmaster Lonnie still runs the place and is very helpful. When we were there, local TV was interviewing him for a story. WiFi, cable TV, etc still working.

Great Crew, Good Facilities., 2013-11-10
Captain: , Union Spring, NY (85)

Stayed here for a about month during the summer of 2013. The facilities are good, not great, but good. The staff on the other hand is great! They worked very hard to accommodate us and always hustled to keep up with a busy fuel dock. They are at the same time laid back enough to make transits feel very welcome and they are always willing to share their excellent local knowledge for interesting day trips.

Great Stop & Base for Touring Area, 2013-09-08
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We spent six nights here and used it as a base to tour the area. Harbor Master Lonnie is a super guy who goes the extra mile for his customers. He even owns an Island. There are actually 1,864 Islands here. It is a short walk to town, restaurants, bars, tourist shops and Uncle Sam's Boat Tours. We used U.S Boat Tours to visit Boldt Castle which is our view from our saloon windows. Also visited Boldt Castle Yacht Center and Singer Castle. Be siure to take the Two Nation Tour with Uncle Sam Boat Tours. Captain Helen enjoyed not having to drive ALLEZ! but sat back and took pictures and enjoyed the tour boats. This place stays busy in summer season with a lot of regular locals so be sure to call ahead and make a reservation with Lonnie. Good Working Cable T.V. and Free Wi-FI

Great stop from Boldt Castle, 2012-07-05
Captain: , Jacksonville, Fl (245)

We were here 7-4-2012, this is a great stop when cruising the Loop. You can check in to US Customs if you have been in Canada at Boldt Castle and cross over into Bonnie Castle Basin for Fuel. It was nice to see $4.00/gal again. We paid $6.00 a gallon in Canada two weeks earlier. The staff is well trained and we were fueled up and pumped out quickly.

Lonnie is the dock master and made us feel welcome, even squeezed us in for the night.

Caught the fireworks that night and had a great evening.

The basin is tight but we called before going in to be sure there was room at the fuel dock.

No space, tons of mosquitos, 2011-07-03
Captain: , Oak Park, Michigan (123)

Was told no problem to dock there by the hotel, but got there and was squeezed into the gas dock area.

Busy weekend, but..., 2010-07-05
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (1038)

Called these folks by phone about transient overnight, told us OK, come to fuel dock. Got into a very tight fuel dock, dragging bottom with 5' draft, only to be told they had no space. Benefit of doubt, it was July 4th, very busy, but they had all our info prior to our entry into the basin. Had to back out due to shallow water.

Best marine for the tourist town, 2009-08-18
Captain: , Port Ontario, Lake Ontario (410)

Located with a healthy walk of downtown. Has some covered slips but not sure about transient access to them. Facilities in nice shape.
